Fantastic evening in Rome

Benjamin_C, Oct 2024
We did this talking food and drink tour with Gian Luca our first evening in Rome in late September. We had arrived by train a few hours before and thought this would be a great way to see some parts of the city outside of the main tourist destinations that we might not otherwise get to see while at the same time getting a chance to chat with a local guide and other tourists. We've made a habit of adding a tour like this in cities we visit, especially abroad, and they never disappoint. Gian Luca was very friendly, funny, and informative. It was a perfect mix of walking history and city tour with frequent stops for delicious food and drink. We started in Camp de Fiori and made our way across the river and into the Jewish Ghetto and Trastevere. All of the food and drink were delicious but some highlights included sparkling wine and caprese salad on an island in the middle of the Tiber, a visit to the oldest wine cellar in Rome, and ending with gelato. It was plenty of food and drink so don't think you need a dinner reservation after the tour. I would highly recommend working this tour into your Rome itinerary, especially if you may not get to these neighborhoods otherwise.

So incredible Tye place we stopped had a line of over 50 people waiting for the store to open at 7 pm but we were lucky our guide had called ahead and had our food waiting for us

Best way to start a trip to Rome

Linda_L, May 2024
Catherine was the most amazing guide. 3 hours of chatting, eating and learning. We had 6 delicious snacks along the way with special treatment at each stop and invaluable insight into Roman food/culture. An absolute hit with my 22 year old daughter too.
