Your bike tour starts by meeting your guide at a central location in Rome. You'll be paired with an electric-assist bicycle, which looks like a regular bicycle but takes out most of the work of pedaling up Rome’s famous hills. Pedal away from Rome’s busy traffic, following your guide past sights like the Circus Maximus; ride through the colorful neighborhood of Trastevere and visit popular piazzas like Saint Peter's Square. Climb on the Janiculum Hill for a breath-taking view of the Eternal city and ride down to the square of Saint Peter’s Basilica and to Castel Sant’Angelo. Finish the tour by going on the Capitoline hill, for a view over the monumental ruins of the Roman forum.

The tour was just as described- the bikes were so easy to use, our guide was great and very knowledgeable, and we saw Rome from a whole different viewpoint!

E-bikes make exploring the city easy with a great guide!

Kate_W, Nov 2024
We’d booked a panoramic tour and were offered an alternative when there weren’t enough people on our route. We were glad we went. Nima was knowledgeable and fun and we felt well-briefed and safe. We saw so much more of the city than we would have done on foot and yet the pace was relaxed and we didn’t feel rushed. There was even time for ice cream. One tip: we wouldn’t recommend this for peak season. Even in November, it was as crowded as we would have wanted to experience by bike. But for this weekend? Just great!

Panaramic ebike tour of Rome

renee_c, Nov 2024
Amazing and fun tour. Our guide, Klass, was very fun, enthusiastic, and informative. While the activity level is “easy” you still are biking and moving your legs for 4 hours so while the e-bikes do most of the hard work you still need to be able to manage riding a bike for a lengthy period of time. It can also be a rough (bumpy)ride getting through the small cobblestone of Rome. That being said, seeing Rome on bike was amazing. We did the Panasonic tour of Rome and the views we got to see were spectacular. We would not have been able to see the back roads and streets we travelled had we been in a car. And being on an e-bike sure beat walking! Loved the tour!

Response from Host, Nov 2024

Dear Renee, Thank you for taking the time to write us a review! We could not agree more: Rome has some breathtaking views and being able to reach them by e-bike makes everything more enjoyable! Hope to have you ride with us once back to Rome! Kind regards, Caterina

Our tour guide Fabio was incredible, the sites were stunning and we learned so much. Recommend this to anyone looking to see the best of Rome. The e-bikes were a lot of fun too

What a great way to see Rome! The bikes were great fun and our guide was not only very knowledgeable but provided a safe and fun experience on the busy streets of Rome: we saw many sights that were even more enjoy late from the perspective of a bike. Highly recommend!

Rome ebike tour — explore off the beaten path

Christine_F, May 2024
A fantastic, small-group bike tour to see the hidden gems of Rome. We were so glad we had booked this particular tour—everyone at TopBike was great, from the office folks to our knowlegeable and friendly tour guide, and we appreciated that this longer tour allowed us to roam beyond the usual tourist sites in the city center. We did stop at the Vatican and Colosseum, but also explored neighborhoods across the Tiber River, crossed the Bridge of Angels, visited an orange grove, learned all kinds of interesting history about Rome, and visited an amazing overlook of the Forum at sunset—plus much more. If you’re comfortable on a bike (the tour does go on some cobblestone streets and in areas with pedestrians) and seeking some adventure /a unique tour experience, this is a good choice. We did ride up a lot of hills, but the e-bikes made that easy, and our daughter (19) loved the tour as well. Our guide was great. Highly recommended.

Wonderful ride; spectacular views.

Rebecca_D, Apr 2024
Fabio was a knowledgeable guide; passionate about Roman history. The ride was magical, taking in beautiful vistas from around the city. We had a fantastic time. Lots of cobblestones. A few alleyways where pedestrian-dodging was necessary.

A great view of Rome!

This was a real highlight of our trip to Rome. We had great fun following our guide, Emanuel, and listening to his local insights. The size of the group was just right. We seemed to cover the whole city. Despite the warmth of August, the electric bikes made it effortless.

We had an awesome tour. The electric bikes were fabulous it was so hot and they were of great assistance. We explored amazing ground using the bikes. Our tour started at 4pm which was perfect because we would be starting to enter the cooler part of the day. The back alleys and side streets were a thing we would never have explored. For this we are truly grateful we did the tour and would strongly recommend this to anyone who wants to explore the true Rome.

I would highly recommend this as a way to see the majority of the main sites. Make sure to be well versed on how to ride an assist bike so that all of the shifting comes naturally as you travel on several busy roads. A bad rider in the group could cause major issues. Our guide was fantastic but we got behind schedule and had to rush the end.

The tour was the highlight of our trip to Rome, We went with Top Bike Rental and they were so friendly and professional . We popped in 2 days before the tour to check the details and the lady behind the desk was a gem. She gave us hints and tips to enhance our stay and by then we knew we had picked the right tour. Our tour guide was Valeria who was friendly and had so much knowledge throughout the tour she made our week. We felt safe at all times on route and believe this is a great way to see Rome.

A friend and I were staying in Rome for just two days, so we chose this tour to get our bearings and see as much as we could. Our guide, Frederico, went out of his way to give us a totally unique, honest and informative experience of the city. It really made our trip. Thanks so much!

Absolutely fabulous experience. A small group (just two riders plus the guide), we got a great look at the city. The spots we stopped (for coffee and later pizza) were top notch, and ones that I returned to on my own. This tour made my trip! I ride a road bike at home, so this was not a stretch. If you haven't ridden in 15 years, this is a pretty technical undertaking. It's not the up- and down-hill that challenge -- although there are hills -- it's the crowds. (I chose a touring bike with an electronic battery "assist", so going uphill was easy.) Unlike a walking tour, where you are listening to a guide (usually through a headset) while you walk, on this biking tour you ride for awhile, then stop and listen to explanation. This tour made my trip!

Great way to experience Rome. Aside from wonderful panoramic views of Rome, we took small alley ways into the various sections. We saw sights in Trastevere, toured the Pantheon, and went to the Vatican City. Caution: Some were on electric bikes that lurched forward when the rider tried to slow.

Our Panoramic tour of Rome was outstanding! Gederico the guide was a fount of knowledge and was very considerate of all levels of riders in our group. We learned so much on this tour and saw intimate sights of Rome that normal tours on buses cannot see. I cannot recommend this tour enough and it is enjoyable for all level of riders. Next time we are in Rome we will do a different tour and request Gederico to lead us.

We recently joined Bruno on the Panoramic Bike Tour of Rome. Bruno was a great guide providing us with pointers on how to safely navigate traffic in Rome as well as having great knowledge of what he was showing us. We really enjoyed our time and wouldn't hesitate in taking another trip with Top Bike Rental should the occasion arise. We would recommend these tours to others :)

Mrs_L, Oct 2013
What a great way to see the sights of Rome. We ride a lot and have ridden in other parts of Italy but were a little hesitant to ride in Rome so I suggested to my husband that we take this tour. It was raining on the day we booked and we were given the option of riding, booking another day or getting a refund. As we had a week in Rome we decided to book another day. While we don't mind riding in the rain we wanted to be able to capture some good photographs. The tour was mostly on quiet streets or pedestrian only streets. We had two guides looking after us, stopping traffic when we needed to cross a busy street. The pace was easy, allowing for beginners and the tour guides were fun and informative. I am so glad we took this tour and would highly recommend it for those who like to ride.
