Awful tour

We paid $250.00 each…we originally booked same trip for half the cost and it was cancelled last minute and this was the trip to replace it. Guide did nothing but drive and drop us off with one other couple. He also had a couple from the cruise as passengers to take and drop off in Rome. Basilica was last stop with no time there. He was hard to understand and walked with a cane. I will be calling Viator

The mentioned cost you paid was for a semi-private tour available on that day rather than originally booked group tour, that unfortunately had to be canceled due to insufficient participants, which is common during the low tourist season in December 2. It is correct that the guide had other participants on the tour. This is because the tour was semi-private, not private, as clearly stated in the tour description. 3. Basilica admission is not included in this tour. Due to the limited timeframe available during cruise ship docking, we explore the exterior of the Basilica only. 4. Regarding Giovanni, it is true that he uses a cane due to arthritis. Despite this, he is notably faster than many local guides and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the tour. As for his accent, please understand that in Italy, guides typically speak English with an Italian accent. While we currently do not have American-accented guides, we encourage embracing these authentic cultural experiences and hope that frequent travel will make understanding different accents easier over time.
