Tour with Limited Mobility

Dennis_R, Nov 2025
The crowds were tremendous, Kate lead us thru the maze. We had a car waiting after each sight we visited, with limited mobility it was the best way to see the highlights.

Horrible, very misleading Rome tour.

Yvis_D, Jul 2025
Horrible… Misleading description of tour. It was not described as a walking all day tour. We got lost in the first stop and no intention of finding us. It was six of us, including 2 kids. Tour guide never counted in stops. After calling Ricardo several times, he finally picked us up after 50 minutes. When I confronted the guide after rejoining with the group, I just her how could she lose 6 people, her nonchalant answer, it’s normal to lose people in Rome. I have been traveling intensively for 40+ years and have NEVER been late to a meeting point time or especially gotten lost in a tour group.

We regret to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations. Please allow us to address the concerns you raised: 1. The Additional Info section of the tour description clearly states that this tour involves significant walking and is not accessible for wheelchairs, mobility scooters, or travelers with limited walking ability — such as elderly seniors in your family 2. According to the guide, mobility issues caused your group to consistently fall behind, which affected the overall flow of the tour. 3. The center of Rome is closed to tourist buses and is pedestrian-only for tour groups. If you’ve been traveling for 40 years, you’re likely aware of this regulation 4. For future travels, we highly recommend booking private tours rather than shared ones. Private options can be adjusted to a slower pace, ensuring a more comfortable experience for your family and avoiding delays for fellow cruisers without walking issues but with limited time ashore. We wish you safe travels ahead.

Worst shore excursion ever. Considering never using Viator again

Tammy_A, May 2025
If you value your life do not book this tour. Also the guide does not speak English, and you are squished into a small van with 8 other large people. He didn’t tell us we were at the Vatican so we missed it. Almost crashed several time due to aggressive driving. Hit the side wall breaking the side mirror. Road rage with another driver. Wouldn’t stop to use restroom. Tour was supposed to be 7 hours. Was 8.5 hours, almost missed ship. Many more problems.

Response from Host, May 2025

We regret to hear that your experience did not meet expectations and would like to address the concerns you raised: 1. Cultural Differences in Driving Style — If this was your first time in Europe, please note that driving styles and cultural norms differ significantly from those in the U.S. In Italy, driving—like many aspects of daily life — is expressive and energetic. While it may feel unfamiliar, it does not mean it is unsafe. 2. Perception of Safety — we understand that the driving style in Rome may differ from what you’re used to in Louisiana or elsewhere in the U.S., but it does not equate to danger. Having spent several years in the U.S. myself, I’ve witnessed many road incidents there, often caused by drivers who were unable to make logical decisions or to react quickly. 3. Language Proficiency — our guides speak international English, which is widely used and understood across Europe. While the accent may differ from American English, it does not diminish their fluency or ability to communicate. We recommend frequent international travel to help expand comfort with different accents and communication styles. 4. Van Capacity & Comfort — Mercedes Vito 2024 accommodates 8 passengers plus the driver, which meets European standards for small group comfort. Your comment about "8 other large people" is puzzling— If you include your own party as part of the 8 passengers, then it becomes clear. For those “large” guests seeking additional space, we offer larger group tours by bus as an alternative. 5. Restroom Access — we apologize for any discomfort. Unlike in the U.S., public restroom availability in Europe can be limited. While it wasn’t possible to stop immediately, we made every effort to reach the nearest available facility as quickly as possible. 6. Tour Extension — please rest assured that the tour extension provided was complimentary and came at no extra charge. 7. Concerns About Returning to the Ship — after 24 years in shore excursion planning, I can confidently say that one of the most common concerns—especially among first-time cruisers—is getting back to the ship on time. While we guarantee a timely return to the ship, it’s understandable that some guests may begin to feel anxious as early as noon, even when the ship’s departure isn’t until 7:00 PM. Fortunately, with more cruise experience, this concern usually fades. To conclude, we truly hope that with more travels through Europe, you'll feel increasingly comfortable with local customs, diverse accents, and the richness that comes with cross-cultural experiences. Wishing you safe and enjoyable travels ahead.
