Guide was very knowledgeable however spent an hour talking and not showing the group of 22 the actual site. We had 15 minutes at the conclusion of the tour for a photo before the Colosseum closed for the day. We visited the entrance level and the 4th level … that was it.

Abysmal experience. Avoid

Initially scheduled for 3pm. Was called and told to come at 1:30 so adjusted our itinerary for the day. Upon arrival was switched to a different tour company and then we waited for over an hour for another group to show for us be split into two groups. We were promised an hour in the colosseum and was rushed to 45 so they could show the entry to the Roman forum. The guide was decent but ultimately was rushed and stressed from being set up for failure by the company. Overall a pretty sketchy experience filled with excuses, long waits, and many others who were not able to experience what was promised. We were told we had 24 hour Roman forum and palatine hill access, but doesn’t really help when you have an early morning departure. Also make sure to get everything in writing on WhatsApp because they will call you with promises and expectations so they will not have it in writing. Avoid.

Hello Mr. J We kindly asked you if it was possible to come and join the 2:15PM tour and requested your arrival shortly before departure, you have decided to come way before the tour start time and ended up waiting for a longer time. There was a slight delay in the departure because the Colosseum blocked the access to visitors due to SECURITY reasons, since it has reached the maximum capacity of visitors multiple times throughout the week. We CANNOT overrule the Colosseum decisions, we just had to wait for clearance and maybe that wasn't communicated and we do apologize for that. We did not wait for another group - the groups have a maximum of 7 visitors with different reservations times and access to different areas inside. Maybe it just happened for other groups to depart at the same time which isn't uncommon. Since the Colosseum's closing times have changed on October 27th, closing two hours earlier now - caused overwhelming crowds and unpleasant delays. We'd love to have you again on a tour someday, wishing you all the best in the meantime! Thank you

Handlers were sketchy and disorganized, but actual guide was good

Very disorganized, seemed sketchy at first because people were not wearing uniforms and did not have identification. We signed up for a 2 pm tour, and they called us asking us to come 20 min early, but then the tour didn’t start until 2:40. The actual tour guide with badge that we met right at 2:40 was good, but she expressed being stressed out that the “handlers” who organized the participants wanted to make extra money so they sold 9 tickets when she was only allowed to take 7 people at a time, and she could be fined $1000 for taking 9. The man in charge was pushy with the tour guide, and how he treated her made us uncomfortable. The advertised 1.5 hour tour was only 40 min. The tour itself with the professional guide was good despite the sketchy people who organized it.

Hello there, We apologize for the delay in departure time, Colosseum has been extremely busy and on such days Colosseum can decide to block the access for security reasons if the maximum capacity of visitors is reached - which happens multiple times throughout different days this week. We do apologize if this was not communicated and you were not let know the reason of the delay. As for uniforms - most tour operators don't have their employees wear one, everyone is free to dress in the most appropriate manner for work, the way people were dressed doesn't make them sketchy, that's quite an assumption there! The duration of the tour as advertised is 1hr tour of the Colosseum and 30min between Forum and Palatine Hill, self access. Thank you for your review

Switched Tour Company and Significant Delays

Booked with Viator who advised it was one tour group and to arrive by 11 am sharp. Was there on time. Was switched to another tour group. That group did not leave for the tour until noon. Tour was ok but this review is of Viator, which the tour company said was completely separate. I tried to email Viator to complain, but every email bounced back. Caused us delays in further events for the day.

Hello, On extremely busy days the Colosseum may decide to block the access of visitors if the maximum capacity has reached, for SECURITY reasons and we can't do anything about that. We have informed the two ladies which were booked with us that there will be a delay in the departure of the tour. We have apologized for the inconvenience, the two ladies were understanding of the situation and we had them sit in the office while waiting for clearance. The tour departed and they had a tour inside the Colosseum,in a small group of 6. However, Mr. Barry you were not booked with us and yet decided to be rude to staff and threatening us with bad reviews. More than 30,000 people have visited the Colosseum on the same day as the two ladies you were accompanying, we are truly sorry for the 30 minutes delayed caused by the Colosseum itself, hope you do understand we cannot overrule the Colosseum's decisions,
