Marco our guide knew exactly where to guide us. Our private tour seemed more VIP than if we had booked it that way. He was such a gem. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with him!

If you want a tour guide who's efficient, knowledgeable, and great with finding photo spots, go with Alessandro. We wasted absolutely no time throughout the tour and learned so much. He's excellent at what he does.

Alessandro was an excellent guide bringing to bear his vast knowledge as an archeologist along with personality and humor. The 2-2.5 hours flew by because it was such a fun time learning about the history of the Colosseum…..excuse me, the Flavian Amphitheater. ;)

This is the way to see the Colosseum! The large groups were lumbering along and didn’t have as much personal interaction. Having a small group of 4 of us with Alessandro, our guide, was a much more intimate way of seeing the Colosseum and Roman Forum.
Alessandro is an archeologist who is part guide, part professor, and part comedian. He’s hilarious and provides information in an informative and entertaining way.
Unfortunately we couldn’t get into the underground portion as we were told prior to our trip that the Colosseum administration had oversold underground entry tickets and were not able to fulfill all those sold. We got a partial refund but that was okay. We still saw and learned plenty!
I would recommend this experience. It was well worth the money to get such a personalized experience instead of one of those large groups with the whisper radios of the guide walking along and talking into everyone’s ear.

Elisa was a wonderful guide for this 3 hour small group tour of the Coliseum that included the underground. One couple cancelled so there were only 3 in our group which felt like a private tour. I learned so much and the time flew by!

Basically, the only thing they need to know is where to find you at the beginning. There were so many people I searched for over a half an hour and could not find you. I do understand that the underground tour is fantastic and I’m sorry I had to miss it. I did not have Wi-Fi to receive your phone call. I have done many tours and never had a problem before.

The architectural designs of the Forum and coliseum were impressive. The ingenuity, design elements, and grand scale of the coliseum was breathtaking. It was a marvel of its time and we can learn something from the drain system developed from that time period. Our guide was knowledgeable, encouraged questions, and even assisted with capturing those crucial moments in photography. A guide is the best way to tour this relic and gain knowledge and insights. You will learn more during this experience than what is taught in the classroom.

It was a great tour. The guide was very knowledgeable. We were late getting to the meeting place. We were able to contact the tour operator by phone, and the guide waited for us patiently. She was also good about taking group photos for us. We really enjoyed the experience. Highly recommended!

The underground experience is totally worth it! It is limited to how many people can be down there at once so this sells out fast! Our guide Katie was unbelievably knowledgeable, funny, kept great pace, and one of the best guides we have ever had! I have been to colosseum before but my family had not and we all give this tour 10 out of 10! If you are going to splurge on one tour, this is it for your family!

The tour of the colosseum was amazing. Def recommend going underground. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable. As for the forum I was kind of disappointed the tour ended a little early and I felt like we saw one main thing and we were dropped off. The forum has barely any signs or information on what you are looking at so definitely get a guide! The forum is HUGE. May need a separate tour. I would use this company for the coliseum but maybe would have done a different tour for the Forum.

We booked this as a private tour, and since it was just the two of us, we expected a more relaxed and unhurried pace.
For us, the experience felt somewhat rushed. The guide shared a lot of information, which may be helpful for others, but it became difficult to absorb or retain while also trying to take in the surroundings.
I had messaged ahead hoping for time to take photos and brief moments to pause and observe, but the tour remained quite talk-heavy. One of the few things I remember was the guide mentioning his background as an archaeologist and referencing an excavation he had worked on. Later, seeing similar details mentioned in other reviews made that part feel more standardized than personal.
We booked a guide mainly to skip lines and have clear guidance, while still having space to observe, read, and enjoy what we were seeing. Instead, the experience felt more structured than we had anticipated.
Even as a private tour, headsets would have helped. They would have allowed more freedom to move slightly, look more closely, and take photos without interrupting the flow of the tour.
Overall, this experience may suit travelers who prefer detailed, continuous commentary. For us, a small group tour with headsets would have been a better fit, offering a better balance between information and comfort.

Gianluca Pica was an amazing tour guide and I liked the small group aspect so we could actually all hear him and not have to use a headset. I felt more comfortable asking questions about the history since it was a small group and he did an excellent job at answering them and providing visuals in a binder he brought. My partner and I did this tour in December 2025 and would recommend to others.
