Excellent Class

Great chef and guide. Delicious food. It was soooo much fun. Only 4 of us so we got personal attention if we needed it!

Denise D, Feb 2018
This was very dissapointing to say the least. Although our tour guide was knowledgeable, the venue for which the class occurred was not conducive for 'learning' how to be a 'Roman Chef for a Day. The restaurant was busy and so was the kitcen where the class was taking place. We felt like we were in the way of the kitchen staff. In addition, we kept getting up and sitting back down in the restaurant after each course. When it came time to cook the pasta and make the sauces, we had no part of that. It was done prior to us getting into the kitchen which took all the fun out of learning how to make it. One last thing, the kitchen was very dirty. While I understand that sometimes this occurs, you probably shouldn't have invited guests who paid for an experience enter a kitchen that isn't prepared for guests. I wouldn't recommend this tour/class.

Delicious dinner! Felt rushed in the kitchen by the chef who was also trying to make meals for restaurant guests. Only made pasta both of which were delicious but was under the impression that we would be making the bruschetta and dessert too. Would recommend just clarifying that in the information about the tour.

Krystm J, Nov 2017
This cooking course was fantastic, it was in an actual restaurant kitchen and we had a translator as the chef didn't know English. Only down side to the experience is we didn't get sent the recipes. Definitely recommend..

John L, Nov 2017
Interpreter was great, knowledgeable of what the chef was relaying to me. Chef was fun to watch and learn from him on the making of pasta. The picture shows what looks like some ones house, you actually go to a restaurant to cook.

Rhonda_G, Sep 2017
My wife's and my favorite tour in Italy, and we did 4 different tours. When I signed up I thought Small Group meant 10 people max, but it actually was just my wife and I. The translator/organizer met us in a public plaza near the restaurant we were going to cook at, and she was very friendly and spoke excellent English. My wife and I made carbonara, gnocchi, and bruschetta, and we ate all 3 plus some tiramisu. After our whole trip, my wife and I agreed that this was our favorite part of the entire trip. The chef himself was really nice, although he didn't speak any English. The restaurant we cooked at was a nice restaurant too. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone. The organizer promised us the recipes, but it's been over a month and we haven't got those yet, although she did say there were always problems getting the recipes to email inboxes, because they are frequently marked as spam, so I suspect that is what happened. Other than that, a 10/10 experience!

Overall, we enjoyed our time together it was just too pricey and not as described. The experience ended an hour early, we didn't make the sauces, tiramisu, or bruschetta just the pasta, and only got 1 glass of wine. The guide was great and a good translator. The chef was also great. Still no recipes

Gillian L, Aug 2017
What we did do on the tour was great! Loved the experience. However what we did do is not what I purchased from Viator. Didn't get to go to a home kitchen, make any of the sauces and only learnt 2 pasta shapes when the voucher said 3. Only got half what I paid for. Very dissatisfied with Viator.

Was a short walk from the meeting point. Quiet restaurant. Lovely translator. Well worth it

mat.vallone, Jun 2017
The lessons and the food in this small-group four of us total cooking class were so good. The tag team of Richie the translator and Loretta the chef were a good pair, and Loretta spoke more English than I expected. The time flew by quickly, and all of the food that we made was very tasty. The room could have been a little stuffy if we hadn't gotten along with our fellow classmates so well a little background music would be great!. The restaurant is outside the heart of the city, so we followed Richie on the subway, which was a nice experience.

A fun evening We were at a small restaurant and it was just the two of us. Our chef did not speak English so we had to rely on our tour guide to translate which was a bit awkward although she did a fabulous job. We've made gnocchi since we've been home and it turned out almost as good. Still waiting for the promised recipes though....

Cushla_B, Apr 2017
This course was held in a cooking school which lacked the ambience of being in someone's home or a more intimate setting, the instructor was lovely (as was our tour guide) and if you have never made pasta before this would be a good course to do

Meloni D, Dec 2016
The food was yum. Good small group. We were hoping to do more cooking and prep, which was very limited to cutting and very quick explanation of what they were/had done, good for beginners or children. Also got told we would get emailed the receipes however this never happened.

The only reason I'm giving this 5 stars is because I cannot give it 6 stars! Our initial guide, Richie, was very helpful and a great translator/navigator in getting us through the metro and to the restaurant. He then supported the real star of the evening, Laretta! Her class was absolutely fantastic, and very fun for my whole family. The food was delicious and plentiful, and I would recommend this as a MUST DO for anyone visiting Rome.

Great class. Enjoyed it quite a bit. If they had offered more wine after we finished the bottle, would be 5 stars :

Lauren Z, Oct 2016
My fiancé and I were very excited for this tour. The class was supposed to be for the second night that we were in Rome, but it was rescheduled due to one of the chefs being sick. I completely understand this, however it was unorganized after that. We waited in the center of Piazza Navona and met our guide who informed us that all of the other couples weren't able to make it so it would be just us. We didn't mind this considering it was our honeymoon, but when we got to the restaurant we waited for 45 minutes before the chef came out to start our class. After waiting about 20 minutes they finally gave us a glass of water. We soon found out that the chef never wrote down that we were coming, so we were entirely unexpected. They set us up on the small table in the back where we made pasta and ravioli, which was great. The description of the class did mention, however, that we would learn how to make multiple pastas, bruschetta, and tiramisu. We put pre-made bruschetta on toast and then we were merely served tiramisu for dessert, this was slightly disappointing considering I paid 175 to make only a dish of pasta. My husband and I sat down with the guide to eat and we saw two cockroaches during this time-- ruining our appetites a tiny bit, as you can imagine. Lastly, we were promised the recipes for everything that we made and didn't make, which I have not received and it's been 3 months since the class. Overall, we enjoyed each other's company and loved making the pasta together. However, we were both disappointed after leaving there that we had spent so much money on something when there were comparable cooking classes for around the same price that were most likely more organized and included more actual cooking time.

This was a lot of fun. The only issue I have is with your write up of this. This cooking class was in a cooking school not someone's home and we had 10 people in the class not the max of 6 people you alluded to. It appears everyone booked through Viator as well and were expecting the above. Once we got over the change of venue and what to expect, the class was lovely and the chef was wonderful. Lots of fun. You may want to include the approximate time for the class as well. It is from 4 to 5 hours long.

Our tour was great! Our guide/translator Holly was awesome! She was very informative and knowledgeable! The restaurant also was able to deliver the tiramisu that was on the trip details so she gave us one of each of the desserts that the place made and then took us to a place that is known for the best tiramisu in Rome, which I must say was amazing! We enjoyed the class, had a great time and were very satisfied!

This was great! The chef was very friendly and our tour guide Holly was wonderful. We met outside and went into a restaurant and got started. Then dinner the food we prepared! was served to Holly, my wife, and I in a private dining room. 100 recommend this and will likely be doing it again the next time I am in Rome.

Just the experience is worth everything to me. I Learned how to cook n I ate food with a chef. The onLy thing I did not Like was cooking at the chef's house however, we were given a paid ride there and the house was nice, but it's better to do it at a restaurant to see a reaL atmosphere.

This was a perfect sized class of 5 with a great host, a great chef and great people. Holly took the time to take pictures for everyone, Chef Laura was amazing and so kind. Everyone was able to learn, participate and eat some of our great food. If you want a cooking class that isn't a full day this is TOP NOTCH!
