Overview
Learn to paint while taking in Maine's natural beauty with this private painting class for all levels. Your instructor will meet you and your party and take you out to a beautiful, scenic spot within a 15-minute drive of Portland. Once you've arrived, your instructor will be on hand to teach you tricks for capturing the scenery in front of you.

What an amazing experience we had. Our first outing while in Portland was so peaceful, serene and a wonderful part of nature. Our instructor was very informative with watercolor painting, knowledgeable and helped us to understand the beginning of water color painting. All the while during the sketching to in and outs of painting. It was so much fun!

Joanne was a delight! She had all the necessary supplies and found us a perfect out of the way spot. She was kind and patient with a couple of newbies. We learned lots of good techniques and can’t wait to do it again! 10/10 would recommend.

Our plein air painting with JoAnn was the most perfect day! Even though we are both beginners, we learned so much! JoAnn is a fantastic artist and teacher, she inspired us, as well as the joy of being outdoors in the gorgeous Maine setting! We cannot imagine a better way to experience Portland, meet a more lovely artist and actually learn in the process. Don’t miss this experience, as it was the highlight of our 16 day New England tour, a lifetime memory for sure!

It was a lovely day and I enjoyed learning how to see the perspective and how to watercolor with techniques to add dimension. She was very patient with me when I messed up! We spent several hours by the Portland Headlight and I pretty much finished my project before leaving. Paint, paper and supplies are provided. Bring water.

Instructor was incredible! She gave helpful hints in an easy to u destined, positive manner. So surprised to find we could each select whatever we wanted to paint and each got individual assistance. Instructor didn’t rush us, made us all feel we had accomplished a miracle, and proved that we actually had some talent! Best experience in a very long time! Wanted to upload photos, but app didn’t seem to work.

My daughter and I had a great time painting in this beautiful location. Our teacher showed us many techniques and allowed us to be creative as well. It was a great balance of being taught and still being able to express ourselves. I would highly recommend this experience!

It was chilly but a wonderful experience. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to try anew experience. The beach we painted on had a awning which helped because it did rain while we were there.

Your groups' paintings captured the mood and mystery of the Maine coast perfectly! As you know, Maine weather in summer varies greatly from day to day. I'm glad that we worked together to find a location that provided enough shelter to make your outing a memorable one. Because this is a weather-dependent activity, I always give my customers the option of cancelling 24 hours in advance. If weather reports indicate, I may also cancel the outing and work with my customers to reschedule or provide a refund. I am so pleased that your experience was a positive one!
