It is just a funexperience for two hours with a friendly crew. The schooner left on time and returned as expected. The fact that we had winds that day allowed the sails to go up - a plus

Simple, lovely cruise. The crew shared info and conversation with the guests. It was quiet, a real treat to hear the ripples lapping against the hull as we glided thru the water. Our favorite of 4 short cruises we enjoyed along the Maine coast!

Nice Sailboat… No History.

Paul_P, Jun 2025
The boat is historic and the bay is pretty but your crew may or may not tell you much… and if there is low wind they don’t use the motor to get to any sights you just float.

Portland Tall Ship tour

This was such an amazing experience and everyone was so knowledgeable and safe. We also had the best weather too!

Best 2 hours!

Fabulous boat/ship with knowledgeable crew! Make sure to layer up even though you don’t think it will be necessary.

The Captain and crew were great. Let us help pull the sail up and briefly steer the boat. This is not really a narrated trip, but the crew will answer any questions about the sites viewed. The Captain also had lots of stories. We would certainly do this again.

Cool experience!

Ruined months of planning

brian_c, Oct 2024
This excursion never happened. Waist of my time & planning My credit card was charged day before the trip & confirmed for the 12:00 noon tour. I called & a left message to inform tour operator that we had to clear customs at 11am in Portland also that we would be there for our 12:00 sailing. We were first off our cruise ship. Then morning of tour operator texted. informing us they did not have a 12:00 but had room at the 11:00 sailing. Also had a 1:30 sailing. We accepted the 1:30 only to be texted after informing us there was no room in the 1:30 tour for 4 passengers. Then no room for 2 passengers. Our tour was booked months in advance with zero contact from Viator or tour company of any changes. Also this was the only tall ship tour listed so we had no options to even book a 1:30 My advice would be find another port. Pass on this one.

New England sailing

It was a great experience. Many thanks to the crew. They were professional friendly and a lot of fun. We are so glad we did this. Sailing in New England was fabulous.

Wonderful fall sail on Casco Bay in a Schooner!

Barbara_C, Oct 2024
The water in the bay was very calm giving us a nice peaceful ride. The Schooners are beautiful and well cared for and the crew provided great information and were very professional and friendly!

Stellar experience with a fun crew

Deborah_A, Oct 2024
So glad we booked our schooner cruise with this company. Great communication prior to the cruise. Every staff member, from dock check-in to the sailing crew was friendly and personable. Seating is on the wood cabin roof, so bring a jacket to sit on. You can get up and walk around and help hoist sails. The crew know a lot of history and general knowledge about the bay area. We had so much fun. Our weather was sunny with a light breeze, so they did use the motor once in a while just to keep us cruising along. We saw seals, loons, lobster boats and several lighthouses. I would definitely recommend!

Exhilarating Experience

Kathy_K, Sep 2024
Heeling was amazing! Had never been on such an exhilarating sail. Captain and crew were nice and seemed to handle windy/chilly conditions well. Quite a thrilling ride!

Nice historic boat

Donna_H, Sep 2024
The “captain” shared a brief history of this lovingly restored boat before setting out for our 2 hour cruise. It was a sailing vessel, but we were motored the whole trip. 4 star rating due to overcrowded feel, lack of and water, snack etc/ even for purchase, uncomfortable seating, no shaded areas to escape. The crew was young and friendly. Woman at ticket office not so much. Didn’t feel like the thrill it could have been.

Beautiful!

Kelly_O, Aug 2024
Very relaxing and great views of the bay. I highly recommend! The staff was amazing as well. You can bring your own drinks and snacks.

Great experience on the water, less so with customer service prior to trip

barbholtcamp, Aug 2024
Beautiful weather, crew friendly, experienced. Only negative was getting correct info about parking prior to trip. Theyvdid not mention all day parking for $25 adjacent to wharf.

Beautiful cruise!

Todd_G, Aug 2024
Great scenes! Wonderful guide! We’d love to do this again. The scenery in Portland was spectacular. We would do this again.

A quiet break away from the noise

Lesley_S, Aug 2024
It was so serene as we quietly sailed across the bay. We had a lovely breeze and it was like a like break from the noise on land

Great sail around Casco Bay

Jacqueline_B, Aug 2024
The crew and captain were amazing. Sail was pleasant and we learned at lot. The crew was very knowledgeable of the sights.

EXCELLENT ADVENTURE

Mitchell_D, Jul 2024
If there were 10 star ratings they would have earned it. This is not a fru fry fake tall ship. It’s the real deal. The crew were helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. What an amazing experience. Seriously, just book it!

Sailing at its best

Super nice staff. Great smooth ride. Plus we had a gorgeous day of suneshine. Everyone on board was happy!

Our Portland, ME Honeymoon!!!

Carlos_D, Jun 2024
My Wife and I had the wonderful oportunity and experience to join Capitan Chelsea and her crew on the Bagheera on this really relaxing and romantic sealing, her and her crew really engaged with all passengers they did make sure everyone was well enjoying the ride and get to know a little be our surroundings and what is to be a Capitan of a boat, what I love the boat was Capited by a woman, she did really lead us all to have the best experience possible, definitely will recommended and we will repeated again.

Great cruise; beware of Viator mark-up costs.

Richard_J, Jun 2024
The cruise was excellent; nice boat and crew. However, be prepared for the "Viator Highway Robbery" as we had no idea that their fee would be $140 additional for our group of 4 Seniors. Use Portland Schooner web site direct! Some small Viator service fee would have been fine.

Relaxing

Bob_B, Jun 2024
Beautiful sunny day. Crew was engaging , courteous, knowledgeable, and encouraged All on boat to help with sails , but not required. Thank you Bob & Eliza Bushn

Awesome trip

Thomas_H, Jun 2024
Super friendly crew! The trip was amazing and so awesome to have such a highly competent captain and deck hands.

A must while in Portland!

Robert_T, Jun 2024
McKenzie was amazing and made us feel quite welcome! It was one the major highlights of our trip to Maine! 👍🏼❤️👍🏼

A great day on the water!

Robert_C, Oct 2023
Seeing the forts from different angles and just being on the water. Also knowing the schooner was 99 years old and having it still in use. It was a perfect sailing day!

Great day on the bay

Kathye_S, Oct 2023
What a fun way to just get a feel for Portland. If you are looking for a "guided tour", this isn't for you, this is just a wonderful trip across the bay under sail. The captain and crew will answer any question you have about the area but mostly they just let you enjoy the ride.
