From the moment you are picked up, until drop off this tour is great. Our driver Brian, was a burst of fun energy who kept us entertained the entire time. You have to hear his laugh.
On serious and humbling note, the Whitney plantation was well done and educational and I felt honored to to experience it.
The airboat tour was very surprising. I actually loved it. The airboat was fun. Lots of gators and learned a lot about the demeanor of gators. Ear covers are provided for the sound and wind. People brought their beverages on the boats (yes, alcohol). So if u want to bring water or alcohol, u can. I didn't need bug spray, but could because weather was cooler and light breeze. Would recommend sunscreen or u can wear a hat, just hold on to it.
Loved this tour all the way through and highly recommend!

Informative and moving experience. The Plantation and exhibits are well maintained. The audio tour was easy to navigate
Daisy_A, May 2026
Great informative tour with a lot of historic value. I was also able to get cute items from the gift store.

Plantation was interesting, educational and humbling. So very sad to see the history of the treatment the slaves, even children, endured.
The air boat was also cool, our guide was great!
We had 2 awesome bus drivers, one was in training. They were informative, polite and very nice gentlemen.

This is the only plantation where the story is told from the slave POV. That is why we picked this one. Glad we took the self guided tour with audio. We could take our time and the audio was so informative.

We had a great driver that always looked out for us and making sure we were taking care of at every stop. He knew we would need a drink for the boat tour and pulled over at a state for us buy some.

This was such a great and informative tour! We were picked up at our hotel and our tour guide driver (I can’t remember his name) was a wealth of information! He talked about Hurricane Katrina, the swamps, the history of many different people that make up New Orleans and the different plantations in the area.
The plantation tour was self guided and very informative! We were able to explore at our own pace. We even saw a baby alligator in the property while we were walking around!
There is a gift shop on the plantation that has items made by women in Ghana. They had some beautiful jewelry, fans, headbands and many other items.
My favorite gift store item is a small book of quotes from the children of the Whitney Plantation. There are many statues of children who lived on the plantation and the quotes are from those children.
I highly recommend this tour!!

This was our first time going to New Orleans. MY friends, who have been there several times, told us about this tour and said it is the best. We would agree! We paid a little extra for the smaller size boat (6-10) passenger, and it was definitely worth it.

Very meaningful and eye opening. We learned the real history about how plantations operated and relied on slavery. It was important to also learn how blacks rebelled and fought against slavery and paid for it with their lives. I felt saddened but hopeful because true history was revealed and not whitewashed. Well worth experiencing.

My girlfriend and I went with our favorite third wheel and we had a fantastic time. The shuttle pickup time varies depending on where you are in the quarter but the service is excellent and both the swamp and plantation were great experiences.

Whitney plantation was great, airboat was fun, but driver forgot to take us to a lunch spot by the plantation and instead dropped us off at the airboat place 1.5 hours before the airboat time. Had to walk to place in a sketchy area. Not great. Need to improve this part of the tour!
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Thank you so much for taking time to leave us a review. I can assure you this is not a normal practice. This is one of our newer drivers. We are so sorry that you didn’t get the experience that we outlined..
Larry_W, Dec 2025
Unfortunately we chose one of the coldest days for our tour. Made experiencing the plantation a challenge but still educational. We all froze during the airboat ride but had so much fun anyway because of Garrett. He put us on the two gators that were visible and we had a lot of laughs with him during our tour. Highly recommend!

If you enjoy history, Whitney plantation is a good place to start....don't let that be the only you visit! Also, we did the swamp tour -that airboat ride was outstanding. We have done a lot of those in Florida and this was so =much fun - driver was so knowledgeable. Seen lots of swamp creatures! Be sure and put this on your list!

This is a must do visit, very informative and interesting at Whitney Plantation. Then onto the Airboat Swamp Tour that puts fun into the trip. Our guide Mick on the swamp airboat was fab knew everything you would want to know, easy pick up and drop off from hotel, driver (cant remember name so sorry) was helpful, polite and very informative on route to Whitney. This is a must do experience when visiting NOLA😊😊

This was a great two part experience! The Whitney Plantation is frankly indescribable. Part of Americas history and extremely well done. It will leave you thinking about things for sure.
We had a great time at the Fan boat alligator tour as well. We had the absolute best fan boat driver who was extremely engaging and actually made the effort for us to have a great experience. So fun!!

The pick up experience was very poor. Be there at 8 and got collected at 8.30 and with no comms to say that the driver was running late. Appalling.
Response from Host, Jan 2026
I’m sorry about your experience. But we actually say in the itinerary that your pick up is between 8 AM and 8:30. We suggest everybody be ready for eight.. the driver has to make a series of stops at other locations. So if you were picked up closer to 8:30 AM then everything went as designed. I understand that you have found this appalling, but we are one of the few companies, if not the only company that still go door-to-door for the pick up service. Most companies have a meet up point. They tell you to meet in a certain spot at a specific time. They don’t care how far you’re away from that spot if you have mobility issues if you’re handicap or elderly at Crescent City Tours, we have always pride ourselves on putting people first so as a business owner, these are the reviews that I lose sleep over. We’re not a perfect company but when we drop the ball, we hold ourselves accountable, but people are always first and foremost at Crescent City Tours. I am so sorry you did not have a better experience. But at the same time, I don’t know what we could’ve done to improve the outcome. But we are definitely always open to suggestions.
So if you have any ideas on how we could improve the service for a better customer experience, we always invite you to call and we can certainly have a conversation. I’m definitely open to having a conversation about the ultimate customer experience. That has always been the goal. But thank you again for taking time to leave us feedback..

Great way to spend a day. The Whitney is a wonderful history lesson of slavery. The grounds are beautiful. Audio guides make the experience pleasant and easy to follow along. The Airboat tour is so much fun! We saw lots and f alligators and our captain made the ride through the swamp so much fun.
Response from Host, Feb 2026

This was such a fun day. Brian (our driver) was so personable and had fun stories. He also gave us a lot of history of the area which we both appreciated. The self guided Whitney Plantation tour was very informative and well done. I appreciated the fact that we could take as much time as we needed (within the allotted tour timeframe). The airboat swamp tour was fantastic!! Our guide made sure we got to see lots of wildlife and was very knowledgeable on the flora and fauna of the area.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Thanks for coming Monica. We enjoyed having you until next time. Stay safe and keep smiling. 😊

The Whitney was an experience I won't forget. Somber, yes. But the facts are told and we should be listening. Teach your children. Take them here. It was well worth the time.

Thanks for coming Katrina. We enjoyed having you until next time. Stay safe and keep smiling. ☺️

I loved this tour. I would highly recommend touring the Whitney Plantation. There are multiple plantation tours; however, the Whitney Plantation Tour, gives you the true history of slavery. It was an emotional tour.
Brian our tour guide was great.
The swamp boat was also part of the tour and was truly fun.
The alligators were scary and cute to look at.
This was money well spent!!!
Response from Host, Oct 2025
Thanks for coming Gevana. We enjoyed having you until next time. Stay safe and keep smiling. 😊

The tour operator needs to provide more clarity and transparency as to how the logistics of the day actually works.
Pick up at our hotel was quite timely...appreciate that.
From there we had to transfer to another shuttle bus that took us on the actual trip.
It's one hour from the city to Whitney Plantation.
We had plenty of time at the Plantation. Which is a must do....do not miss this experience. Really learned alot there....very important museum.
From there we went to another Plantation to have a snack or lunch at the café on its premises. We had 20 minutes tk make sure we were on time for the airboat tour.
Only to sit and wait 30 minutes for the airboat tour.
I would have rather had ths time to maybe eat a better lunch at the restaurant at the Plantation!
Raging Cajuns airboat tour was fantastic. So fun.
But....it was a 2 pm tour that lasted 90 minutes.
The listing said back by 4 pm which is why and how I planned the rest of my evening.
We got back by 430 but that was only because we got off the shuttle bud early and walked back ourselves.
All in all....the actual 3 hours of experiences we had a today were great. The logistics of the rest really put a negative side to the whole day.

I am sorry about your experience. I’m floored by this review. We have been doing it this way for 33 years. I don’t really know what to add to this. I wish your experience could’ve been better. But it sounds like you would prefer a private tour where your driver can go as directed. We do have that option available. You said the pick up at the hotel was quite timely. You even mentioned that we took you to other plantations none of which is included in the price. We also took you for lunch. And we have to get you to the swamp tour early so you can be checked in give you time to use the restroom view the gift shop and whatever else you need to do. I mean, I just don’t really know what else we could do to have made this better. I really do believe that a private tour option would have been a lot better. And we do offer that as an option. It gets confusing as an owner to respond to reviews when on the same day. We have multiple five star reviews. I hope you can understand my confusion in my disappointment. We aim to give the best tour experience as possible. These are the reviews that I lose sleepover as an owner. But I tell people all the time if all you want is a ride to the plantation and back there are plenty of companies that are more than willing to provide that. At Crescent city we are trying to deliver experiences as opposed to just selling tours. Anybody can put up some pretty pictures on the Internet and sell a tour. That’s not our goal. And I’m heartbroken that you didn’t get the experience that we desired for you to have. But if there’s anything that we can do to make this right, please feel free to reach out to us at 888-424-8687 and you can speak directly to me. Thank you for choosing Crescent City Tours
