Top New Orleans Cooking Classes

We really enjoyed this class. This is a full hands on class where you cook all the food, although it is pre-portioned and organised for you. This contrasts with the demonstration class which I have done before, where you watch the chef cook. We had Chef Lynne as our instructor who was wonderful. She explained everything clearly and constantly helped all the class members. Our menu was chicken & sausage gumbo, shrimp & grits, and bananas foster crepes. This included making a roux for the gumbo and flambé for the banana foster which was fun! I recommend this class and would do it again (worth a different menu) the next time I’m in NOLA.

Chef Conner was amazing! He showed us how to properly handle our utensils, and the class was very hands-on from start to finish. The gumbo, shrimp étouffée, and bananas foster were all absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was lively, and the food was incredible. My only regret was forgetting to buy the season.

Chef Mark was absolutely amazing. He was personable, funny, knowledgeable, and incredibly patient throughout the entire class. He took the time to make sure everyone understood each step of the cooking process, which made the experience both educational and enjoyable. What made the class even more special was how he shared so much New Orleans history and culture while we cooked. It truly felt like more than just a cooking class—it was a full NOLA experience. We prepared jambalaya, New Orleans–style BBQ shrimp, and chocolate bread pudding, and every single dish was absolutely delicious. The flavors were incredible and authentic. I would highly recommend this class to anyone who loves great food, great energy, and learning the stories behind the dishes. Chef Mark made the experience unforgettable.
