The transportation was seamless and timely. Our bus driver was courteous and provided great information about Louisiana during the ride to the plantation. Also, the courtesy call in the morning to confirm the pick up
Spot l, provide the name of the driver and a description of the bus was very much appreciated. I requested reserved seats for my hearing impaired family and they were very accommodating. I would definitely recommend!!

Our driver was great and very knowledgeable. He was professional, punctual, and kept us on schedule throughout the trip. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting New Orleans!

It was a wonderful excursion. Our guide Edward, was phenomenal. He shared so much more than what was at the museum.

You are on your own when it comes to adjustments due to weather. We had tornado and flood warnings. I called to see if the trip to the plantation was cancelled. Viator told us to check with the sponsor. We called, and were told to leave a message, and that they would get an answer on the next business day! It was FRIDAY! We took an Uber to the meeting place ($20), and was THEN called to reset the tour at noon! We had plans. Another $20 home. Viator should ALWAYS be able to get in touch with the sponsor, and be expected to make sure that we were notified! I am out $40, which was 2/3 the cost of the tour itself!
Crappy business that I will never trust again!

Edward our driver was very knowledgeable and friendly. This was a really good experience, we had plenty of time and the tour was easy to follow.

The Driver Edward was on time and very informative from point a to b .The company kept you posted of any possible inconveniences. Legendary tours did amazing.

This is a must see place, profoundly moving and an important, although horrific, part of our history. Beautiful grounds, serene views and an attempt to honor the lives lost of so many enslaved people.

Very interesting and learned a lot about the lives of slaves during this period. Not your typical plantation tour. Something different and informative

Remarkable day trip. The driver is informative and very professional. The plantation has a lot of information and well preserved buildings.

Exemplifies another human tragedy… well constructed and displayed .. how could we condone this at any time in history?

Edward was courteous and provided lots of interesting tidbits about New Orleans/Louisiana during the drive with opportunities for photos. Whitney Plantation was one of the most memorable parts of our trip, presenting the perspective of a person who is enslaved. Would definitely recommend!

Phenomenal tour at the plantation! We did the self guided tour and was great to walk at our own speed. Learned a lot! This is a must do!!!
I wish I could give 5 stars, but transportation times were misleading. The driver was very knowledgeable and filled with lots of fun facts and food suggestions. Howeve,r huge mis-advertisement in pick up and drop off times. We were picked up late and we didn’t get dropped off until 3pm. We left the plantation at 12pm as planned but the bus stops at various places so the ride back is considerably longer. please plan accordingly and don’t make plans - we were supposed to meet family for lunch at 1:30-2pm. Please consider changing your listing so people are aware. Thanks!

The tour guide and operator were professional and on-time offering multiple pick-up spots in mid-city New Orleans near hotels. The bus driver/tour guide was friendly and informative and provided interesting commentary through the ride to the plantation. Our group felt the self-guided tour was the best way to see the plantation as it is an emotional and reflective experience. It is a good way to self-pace and allow time for listening, reading, and processing. This is a must-do for anyone traveling to the area!

Moving experience - hotel pickup worked well
Great perspective from slave view -
Beautiful grounds - we got stuck walking around in pouring rain - should have purchased the plastic burgundy poncho for $4.95.
Even tho we had our own “rain jackets “ we got soaked

Our driver Edward was on time for pick up from our hotel. He was in constant communication prior to pick up time. While he was an excellent storyteller, the audio needed technical work as it was staticky.
Overall, it was a great experience to educate oneself and see for yourself that important part of history.
I recommend this activity.

Booo for Legendary Tours. Prepaid for the Whitney Plantation tour. Legendary Tours called the day before to tell us the tour may be canceled (I think because it was just two of us) but then later told us a different guide (2nd Line Tours) would pick us at at the agreed upon time and location. However that pickup never happened (new driver didn’t get the update I was told) so we never made it to the destination. Huge disappointment because we’d planned the day around the tour and it was going to be the highlight of the trip. Avoid Legendary Tours and 2nd Line Tours, they cannot be trusted.

From start to finish it was an informed well organised visit. From local history provided by Edward who was informed and knowledgeable about the local areal. The tour was good I would possibly do the guided tour next time.

We were so excited to take this tour that was supposed to be packed with history. We booked a couple of months in advance and paid in full prior to getting there. We got up early and waited downstairs of our hotel lobby until the bus arrived. Finally we're on the bus with the remaining passengers Edward picked up from the various hotels. 5 minutes into the ride you hear a lound humming sound. The driver gets off the highway, take a look at the vehicle, and make a couple of calls. To our dismay he has to turn around and take us all back because there's something wrong with the battery and/or belt. We all get dropped back off to our hotels. I received a call later stating we couldn't tour that day because no other busses were available! We were offered a refund and now even that's been a hassle since I booked through Viator. I understand things happen but not the experience I was hoping for!

Our bus broke down and we did not see the plantation, But, the driver went above and beyond to ensure our safety.

Driver Edward was very informative and helpful 👏. We both loved the experience. I would highly recommend this experience.

The driver was on time and engaged his passengers during the trip. Edward, our driver, shared some valuable information about Louisiana. I did have some concerns about the bus's grinding noise, which sounded like metal rubbing against metal. I was disappointed in the attractions at the Whitney Plantation. I expected to see more. To its credit, there was a lot of history posted on the walls, meaning there was more to read than to see.

Very knowledgeable. I was able to learn a lot about my history. It’s was very sad but I enjoyed it. Great job

It was an amazing way to honor our history and those who died as a result of it. Very informative and powerful experience!
Robert_K, Apr 2026
The drive to the plantation is about an hour long, but our guide Ed was very entertaining and informative along the way. They you have snacks at the plantation. Eat before you go. Hands down this is a must when visiting the new Orleans area. Very educational. the bookstore has much to offer as well.

Viator called the morning of the tour to ensure I knew the time of my pick up, what the bus looked like and who the driver would be.
Edward was informative and very entertaining. He spoke clearly and at a good volume. He was very clear about what we needed to do to start our tour and exactly when he would return for us.
The tour itself was both fascinating and heartbreaking due to the subject matter. The staff were polite and helpful. It was such a meaningful experience!
If you are going, remember sunscreen and a hat or umbrella because there are areas of no shade. If you’re doing the self-guided tour, try to adjust your speed to maintain distance from the guided tours so you can hear the auto guide player. Do the interior exhibits first if you have time because that will help you put everything into context better.

Mostly a self guided tour. The bus driver shared some interesting stuff enroute. The tour was great for learning history about enslavement and plantation life.
Stephanie_S, Mar 2026
The ride to the Whitney Plantation had good commentary. I did learn some things about Louisiana. I was just a little underwhelmed by the tour because it is with a hand held device and the tour with the guides was much better. I would probably do that type of tour if I had known the difference ahead of time. The other thing that is missing here is that you do not see the inside of the big house where the owners lived, so there is no real juxtaposition between the two worlds. You do get to see how the slaves lived and the terrible conditions, but somehow, since the grounds aren’t kept up, it’s hard to imagine how the plantation actually looked at the time. Maybe I should have gone on a 2 plantation tour. There was a nice gift shop, but since the tour is 5 hours, bring something to eat as choices are very limited at the plantation.

It was an incredible experience. Make sure you have your walking shoes on and your ears are open……..
Melissa_A, Mar 2026
Educational and moving experience. My friend and I were very humbled by the memorials of so many slaves, even children.
Heather_B, Mar 2026
This was an amazing tour! Our bus driver was very knowledgeable and I liked that we got to go at our own pace once we were at the plantation. The content was so important, I definitely wanted time to sit with it and reflect. I had plenty of time to do the tour. A must do if you are in New Orleans!

Very educational. Outdoor walking so weather is important to consider. Some benches. Audio tour was good. There were no USB ports on bus. Scenic route out and highway back. Hotel pickup was good.
