Choose a morning or afternoon pickup from the French Quarter (if option selected) and climb aboard your coach for the ride deep into Cajun country. Watch the changing scenery as the cityscape transitions into expansive wetlands. Your coach delivers you to the launch point across the Mississippi River, where you’ll transfer to an open‐sided, covered boat and set off on the fun and educational ride. If you selected the self-drive option, make your own way to the boat and board at the designated time.
Your guide will take you on a wildlife‐spotting cruise through this legendary Louisiana terrain. Glide along the water, viewing the lush greenery and abundant local wildlife, including nesting alligators, egrets, raccoons, snakes, and giant nutria. Some wildlife is more easily spotted during the warmer months of the year. Get great photos and learn about the history and mystery of the swamps, including the culture and ingenuity of the Cajun people who have populated this region for almost 250 years. Your guides will share stories about Cajun music, bayou lifestyle, and culinary traditions—like the creation of Louisiana’s signature gumbo, as well as information about the region’s passionate efforts to preserve the wetlands.
Your coach returns to the French Quarter by mid‐afternoon or evening (if option selected).

Please take a light jacket, because it gets pretty cold on the bayou. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the area. I would recommend this tour to anyone who will be visiting New Orleans. Thank you

This is a easy 2-hour tour of the bayous and swamps. tlThe boat is quite stable and has a cover overhead to protect from sun and weather. Wildlife is much more active in the warmer months, March thru October. Sunny days are best. A good outing for kids. Bring your camera, bug spray and a water bottle. And some cash to tip your guide!
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Thanks Michael. We really enjoy showing the bayou inhabitants to kids of all ages. Thank you for the very nice review.

Sunny warm days are best to see the Alligators. We saw several, both sunning and swimming. A couple even approached the boat. The captain/guide was excellent.

Great review. Thank you for sharing your swamp adventure.
Giulianna_P, Dec 2025
December you are unlikely to see many alligators but we were lucky to see 5. The tour company was amazing from end to end.
