Beverly was such a pleasure to have as a tour guide friendly, informative, funny, and animated when speaking and explaining things. Truly a very memorable experience of history.

It was extremely educational. We toured through the house with our amazing guide Peter and then walked the rest of the grounds by ourselves. This is the only plantation I’ve ever visited, but the lack of POC was both disappointing and unsurprising. I imagine it’s common for workers to dress like the time period, but I can’t help but consider the souls watching modern white people.

Everything you would expect and more!! Both our guides (Ann and Parker) were wonderfully versed in all things Destrehan Plantation and history around it. If you can keep teenaged girls interested then you’re doing something right 😉

A very interesting, thorough, and well organized tour. Our tour guide Brenda was very knowledgeable. I thought it was a good combination of guided tour and ability to roam yourself through the outer buildings.
I've toured many plantations in Virginia as that's where my family's from. I really enjoyed learning the difference between the LA system and that of the rest of the US. Also, half an hour closer to NO than the he others!

This is a walking tour and there are stairs. The narrator was very knowledgeable and accommodating to me offering the elevator for bad knees. The history of how the plantation was made is awesome. Great experience.

This was a great experience are host. Jim was very knowledgeable and entertaining. This is also a very truthful experience. No sugarcoating.

Interesting bit of history. Sadly the tour guide was not in a good mood. Sensed she had to do the tour. She was informative but lacked any emotion. An audio recording would have had more interest.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad you found the history interesting and appreciate your comments about the tour experience. We’re sorry to hear the presentation didn’t feel engaging, and we will keep your feedback in mind as we continue working to improve the visitor experience. We hope you’ll consider visiting again in the future.

This tour immerses you in history and what is not 100% written in our school era history text books. Beverly took us back in time with facts that she had personally researched her self. I highly recommend this tour
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you for joining Beverly's tour! We’re so glad it helped bring the site to life and added meaning to your experience.

Great experience for children & adults alike. Alan was the best & so knowledgeable with all our questions. There is an elevator & ramps to be accessible for all in certain structures. I didn’t get to visit them all because I had two toddlers due for nap time but certainly will visit again in the future. Viator doesn’t show but the tours run every 30 minutes at least on the Sunday that I went for Mother’s Day.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you for your kind review. We're glad you and your family enjoyed the experience and found Alan knowledgeable and helpful. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future!

It was a bit disappointing. We thought our guide would be someone acting the part. Our guide was informative but we were expecting something different. It was pretty cool getting to see the house and other buildings and to learn about the plantation throughout its history. I would recommend seeing the plantation but knowing the guide is dressed up and only presents the information. The cafe has amazing salads and wraps and the employees are super kind I would recommend eating here.
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad you enjoyed exploring the house, grounds, and learning about the plantation’s history, as well as your experience at the café. Our tours are guided historical interpretations rather than costumed performances, but we appreciate your comments and will keep them in mind as we continue improving the visitor experience.

Our very informed and informative guide, Beverly, brought the plantation to life with history and anecdotes to “paint the picture” of all that have lived and worked on the property over the centuries.
