The history of the lei dates back to the ancient Hawaiians, who wore native flowers, braided leaves, shells, feathers, stones and bones to beautify themselves. They often offered these garlands to each other and to their gods as a symbol of love and friendship.
Look for your lei greeter once you stroll past security at Kahului Airport in Maui. Enjoy a warm, Aloha welcome while a fresh strand of orchids is placed around your neck. Inhale the sweet fragrance and make the immediate switch into relaxation mode for the beginning of your trip.
For honeymooners, upgrade to the deluxe package to include two, ornate orchid leis.

I set this up as a surprise to my wife and kids. This was our first time to Hawaii. My wife asked are they going to give us Leis when we get off the plane? I said NO that’s only in the movies. So imagine her surprise when we were walking to luggage and the lady was holding a sign with our names and Leis. The Leis were beautiful and couldn’t have been any prettier.

It was so sweet to come off the secured area and into the entrance to baggage claim with a sign with our names on it and smiling faces ready to greet us. The flowers were beautiful and it made my husband’s first trip to the island so special.

This was so great!! The kids loved it and they were kind enough to take our picture, and offer us help to baggage claim and car rental area. Our flight was delayed an hour and they were still there waiting for us on time!

The Lei was so beautiful. It was such a great pleasure to walk off the airline and see the sign in the baggage area. It was a special occasion for us and she helped start it off.

It was easy for us to spot our greeter because she was holding a sign with our names on it. Lei’s were delivered as promised, and she also offered us directions to the baggage claim and car rentals and took our picture! We’ve been to Hawaii many times and I just always wanted a lei greeting!
