Discover the ancient Hawaiian sport of surfing during your time in Maui with this surf lesson. Join a small group of beginners on West Maui and begin learning about ocean etiquette and surfing techniques on the sand. Then, take to the water and try to catch some waves with your instructor providing guidance from the water.

This was my first time surfing and to my surprise I caught several waves! Javier was great at teaching and breaking down how to do every step to make sure I succeeded. Even when I wiped out he was still very encouraging. If it’s your first time or not, I definitely recommend.

Curran was our surf instructor and he was the best one we’ve ever had. So patient and stayed with my kids the entire time till they were really surfing really well. I’ll excursion was outstanding experience.

These guys were amazing!!! So friendly and set up really well for a successful lesson. They did an amazing job with our 9 year old to keep her safe and get her surfing!
I highly recommend these guys if you want to learn to surf and stand on your board in the first lesson!!!

Goofy Foot Surf School is amazing!!! They were very responsive and communicative leading up to and after our lesson. They even provided a photographer, Gabriel, to capture photos during our lesson if we were interested! His fees were reasonable and we got a ton of great action shots and could just enjoy watching our kids surf. Our 3 kids, ages 10, 13 and 16, had a blast! This was their first time ever surfing and they all got up on their boards numerous times and had such a fun positive experience. Their instructor Kailani was incredible! His enthusiasm and love of the sport is infectious. A brief lesson/intro on land and he had them in the water on their boards. Not a moment was wasted. He even let them stay out a few minutes longer to end on a high note, each catching one last wave. He was very patient and encouraging, especially with my 10 yr old, helping her catch her waves and was by her side the entire time while still giving my 2 older boys his guidance and expertise. I felt they were very safe in his care and the surf location was ideal for beginners. My husband and I couldn't have been more impressed. We highly recommend Goofy Foot Surf School. If you have kids, you can't go wrong. Watching all 3 of our kids having fun and learning a new skill together was by far one of our most memorable and favorite parts of our trip. It's rare that all 3 agree on anything but hands down they all say this was amazing and they want to do it again! We will definitely be back on our next trip! Mahalo Goofy Foot!

We gave our 13 year old daughter her first surf lesson while vacationing in Maui. Goofy Feet did not disappoint. Two days before her lesson, Fabio called to move the lesson up 2 days and change locations due to better surf conditions. He was thinking ahead and I liked that. The surf lesson was perfect. It was well organized and you could clearly see how experienced Fabio and his crew were. They were great with kids. Protective and encouraging. I highly recommend Goofy Feet. They were awesome.

This is our second time using Goofy foot for surfing lessons. They are the best surfing lesson company in Maui.
We first tried them about eight years ago, for our kids, and came back this year to use them again to support local business. We were not disappointed.
Instructors were patient and made a huge difference in terms of getting the kids up on the boards and having a great morning

This experience was the highlight of our trip! Mario was our instructor and he was so patient and knowledgeable. Amazing, all around. If you're trying to choose an activity that gets you in the ocean, teaches you something cool, and allows you to meet some cool people while enjoying the sunshine, DO THIS!!!

My kids had the best time learning to surf with Goofy Foot Surf School. Their instructor, Austin, was so friendly and kind and he made the whole experience so much fun for our kids. They were both up on waves within the first try.
At one point my daughter got a little seasick and Austin made sure she made it back to shore safely, checked up on her and allowed her to return to finish her lesson when she felt up to it.
If we ever return to Maui, we will definitely go back to Goofy Foot for more surf lessons!

We traveled from Utah and it was our first time surfing. Phillipe was fun, helpful, and went at the pace we needed. He was encouraging and helped us get up many times! I would feel confident now trying on my own, and would suggest this to anyone who is starting out or needs extra tips. Fun, safe, good priced experience!

Did the early morning lesson and had at least part of the time without the crowd that built up steadily as the morning went on. Everyone at Goofy Foot was friendly, the instructor was patient and helpful with his feedback, and I got a chance to catch quite a few waves.

Amazing! Our instructor was Austin and he did a great job of letting us figure it out by making mistakes and also giving good feedback on form (which is good because one of us had surfed before and the other had not). It was truly a great experience — the surf school and shop is adorable and right on the beach so it’s easy 🏄🏼

I had a great experience with my beginner lesson. As luck would have it there were only two of us in this class. Mario, our instructor took us down to the beach and went over the basics of what we needed to know. He explained everything and answered any questions. We then paddled out to the staging area. The two of us took turns surfing, non stop for the remainder of the class. Mario was patient and worked hard to ensure our success. He provided feedback and encouragement. The waves were steady but not big, so it made for a great beginner experience. I’d go it again.

We had the most perfect day surfing. Austin met us at our skill level, took the time to set us up individually on our land lesson and then had us stand up and catch multiple (!!) waves. Austin was very patient and amazing at pointing out just the right detail we needed. We had a blast! Lahaina and the water conditions were perfect for beginners, and the staff at Goofy Foot were so welcoming!

My daughter had the best time! There were only 3 people in her whole group so they got a lot of instruction and water time. All 3 were able to stand up right away! They even had a professional photographer capturing some amazing shots! My daughter now wants to take up surfing as a sport. Highly recommend!

Had an amazing experience with Mario! My wife and I never surfed before but Mario gave us guidance and tips, helped us on to waves as well as a lift back to the shore. We managed to get on our feet and actually surf! Super excited. You got to decide whether to pay a bit extra for the nice photos - we looked amazing on the board so we paid ;)
The location is also very nice. We parked at the public parking lot which is ~3 min walk to the location, but it is actually ~1 min walk from the Banyan trees as well as restaurants. Feels good to enjoy some food in the shades after the surfing session!

Great experience! Shane was an awesome guide and overall super cool dude. He helped us to learn the basics and we managed to have a great time. We were able to pop up and catch a few waves which was incredibly satisfying as beginners. This was actually our second time ever surfing, but this class with Shane was way better in comparison to our first, and much more fulfilling in terms of fun and experience. Highly recommend this booking!

We had an AMAZING lesson with Phillipe! He was so patient and kind, never condescending (we heard other instructors on the water talking down to their clients). If we didn’t stand up, Phillipe would give us a play by play of what to work on. My husband was able to stand up a few times (his biggest goal) & with Phillipe’s instruction I stood up & rode the waves almost to shore 80% of my runs! HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Goofy Foot. Tory in the shop was also a wealth of knowledge & gave us suggestions on hikes & other activities to enjoy while in Maui. Plus - he was super fun to talk to! Would definitely go back for another lesson or just to rent equipment. 12/10
