Meet your guide at your hotel or port for the 45-minute or so drive from Lisbon to Cheleiros, and leave the city behind for a scenic landscape of grape vines and farm fields. Learn the history of the 14th-century parish then taste a series of the region’s wines—find out how local families are using traditional Portuguese grape varieties to re-energize Cheleiros wine, producing some bottles made solely with unique Jampal grapes. Try six different wines then experience two iconic local products at an olive oil and bread tasting.
Continue to Quinta da Murta, a Bucelas winery that produces Portugal’s most celebrated white wine from the Arinto grape, which Romans introduced to this region over 2,000 years ago. Sample three wines from the DOC-recognized Bucelas area then explore the village's quiet center. Take advantage of this private tour to customize the experience to your interests and needs, by visiting historic sites, strolling the vineyards or just soaking up the country charm of Portugal’s rural towns. Finish the day with return transfer to your Lisbon hotel or port.

We had a wonderful tour of two wineries. Plus a beautiful drive through acres and acres of majestic cork orchards and a delicious traditional Portuguese lunch at a local restaurant. Joao was a fantastic guide. He was very knowledgeable about Portugal and about the different wineries and wines. He was a fun and gracious host. Very flexible to our needs. We would love to go on another tour with him as our guide.

This was an incredible private tour. We went to two very different wineries--- but both so amazing. We then had an absolutely delicious meal in Pamela. Our guide was not just our guide. It was like having your best friend taking you to really cool secret spots. Do yourself a favor and book this tour.

Our destinations were altered due to winery availability, so we visited the Setúbal and Palmela area south of Lisbon. Ricardo was the most gracious and accommodating host, making sure we had excellent wines and delicious food. We had a nice winery tour at José Maria da Fonseca winery, learning interesting facts about the making of aged moscatel wines, tasted wine and observed cork trees at Quinta de Alcube, and ate the most delicious, fresh-as-could-be sea bass at a small family restaurant in Palmela. What made our day the best was our instant connection with Ricardo, who is charming, warm and knowledgeable. Obrigada, Ricardo!

Our host arrived early and that was a perfect start to a perfect day! Ricardo was easy going, gave us lots of information, and engaged us in interesting conversations about culture, entertainment, food and wine. We had a lovely lunch in a traditional Portuguese restaurant and following that we had a bit of time to get some nice pics. The day flew by. And we loved the tour and the wine tastings! Our guide Paolo was lovely and entertained us all day. We ended up in the mountainous are near setubal which was gorgeous. A fun mix of wineries, one more rural, one historic where the 7th generation of the founders still work and a coop style where people bring their own grapes. All the wines were delicious and Paolo was knowledgeable. He also took us for a pit stop to a studio that paints authentic Portuguese tiles and it was fascinating to watch them work. Lastly we stopped for lunch at a very authentic mom and pop restaurant which was delicious and cheap! Had a great day with this company would use them again in a heart beat.

Our group had an amazing day on this tour! Rodrigo was a great driver. He let us take the day at our own pace which was great. At the first winery Sonya was so knowledgeable with all the questions we shot her. At the second winery we had an amazing time with Vera and Pete. They both have such passion for their jobs and it shows!! Highly recommended tour!!

This is a great tour for anyone who has a great interest in wine, Joao was a wine garu but not stuffy at all. You can see he is full of passion in wine, and explained the history, culture and wine making story really well. The 2 wineries we went are small batches, top quality producers so a rare gem in the region. Must try tour for serious wine lovers.

We had a wonderful day touring two different wineries. The first one is in a cute little town and the winery was very boutique-ish. Just lovely and the wine was delightful. Our guide Paulo was perfect! Very engaging. He took us to a small authentic Portuguese restaurant for lunch and ordered for us. It was a very authentic meal, and quite a treat for us! The second winery was in the country with beautiful sweeping views of hills and valley and the vineyard. We absolutely loved this tour and highly recommend if you can get Paulo as your guide.

This tour was an absolutely wonderful experience for my wife and myself. Having Paolo as our private tour guide made this an experience we will talk about for years to come and share with our family and friends. Paolo is so passionate about Lisboa and the surrounding area it gave us a much richer experience and understanding of Portugal's beauty. The wineries and villages we toured were intimate and picturesque. The wine was also very good. A very unique experience overall and we will return with a group of friends for an extended stay.

We enjoyed a wonderful day with Paulo travelling North on what we thought was a standard wine tour. Paulo spoke proudly of Portugals heritage and history showing us some amazing sights along the way. We stopped for a short visit in Mafra and were amazed by the beauty of his small community and the National Palace was breathtaking. The two winery’s we visited (Manz Wine and Quinta da Murta) were both unique and pleasing with wonderful people, wine tasting and education. We would highly recommend Paulo as a guide! This Wine Region with it´s wines and history, makes it a very different and interesting region (at least we hope).
Away form the usual touristy places, this makes a good "getaway" from Lisbon.

Our tour guide, Paulo, was excellent! He picked us up from our Lisbon apartment and as we were leaving Lisbon, he recommended restaurants to visit as well as attractions to see which were very close to our location. He was very knowledgeable about Portugal as well as this wine region. We visited Mafra and had a very good typical Portuguese lunch at a local restaurant. During the day, we visited two wineries where we tasted their wine and were given a history of the winery as well as a description of their wine production. We were very impressed with the winery choices and we would definitely recommend this tour!

This was a great tour and if you are a wine loving person you should absolutely do! Our guide was very knowledgeable and informative and the 2 wineries we visited had excellent samples and winemakers who gave us the low down on the grapes, climate and ratings of each. It was a great afternoon and would highly recommend!

Paulo, our guide was very good. The Quitas we visited were, overall, good. Manzwine deserves a special mention. Rita, our host, was knowledgeable and happy to answer our many questions about the winemaking processes and wines. The wines were very good. Paulo took us to a small cafe for a typical Portuguese meal, including soup, sardines and mackerel. He also went out of his way to organise vegetarian options for one of us.

We had a truly wonderful day. First communication prior to the tour was great, received a few emails confirming time and place for pickup. We were picked up promptly at our hotel, actually Paolo was early, we were still eating breakfast. It was pouring rain, and he literally pulled the van to the door and was right there with the umbrella. We enjoyed both wineries, both the staff that did the tours and the wines as well. Beautiful countryside and the people were genuinely warm and kind. Paolo was a great guide. So energetic, you can tell he's passionate about Portugal, wine and food. Made a couple of stops, one in Mafra to see the lovely church and then to sample the best nata in Portugal. Would highly recommend a day trip with this company!

We had a fantastic day with Joao from TakingUThere, visiting two gorgeous vineyards within the Lisbon area. The private vineyard tours were really informative and interesting - and really fun! - and the wine we was fantastic. We also made a quick stop in Mafra to see the palace and learn a bit about the town. Joao is extremely personable and knowledgeable about Portugal, which made the time spent driving pass very quickly. Overall, it was a perfect day - and a great value!

We had an amazing wine tour with Paolo, covering two vineyards and several stops along the countryside to get a better feel for the areas we were visiting. Paolo is a great guide - he is very informative, makes you feel comfortable, and wants you to have the best day possible by catering the tour to your preferences. At lunch, Paolo got a local restaurant recommendation, and helped us order some local favorites. Definitely recommend this tour, it was one of our favorite days of the whole trip!

Paolo was fabulous. He was very engaging and informative with a great passion for his country and culture. The wine tastings were each unique and personal learning experiences, and the wines were fantastic. We could have chatted with Mario all day. We had a wonderful lunch at a charming little local spot in Mafra.
It was a fantastic way to spend the day, and we highly recommend this tour.

Our Lisbon wine tour was fantastic. We booked our vacation through a well- known travel agent who scheduled all of the tours except the wine tour which we booked through Viator. By far the Viator Wine Tour was the best tour of our two week Spain Portugal vacation. Our guide, Paulo L with the company Viator engaged, Taking You There, was excellent. He was knowledgeable, humorous, spoke excellent English and made the tour memorable and a lot of fun. The wineries Manz Wine and Quinta du Murta were old world and charming. Our hosts at the wineries were knowledgeable and hospitable. The wine was excellent and the scenery was very nice. We will be booking more of our tours through Viator in the future because of our experience with this tour and specifically with our guide Paulo

The tour was awesome! Paulo was a great guide! Plenty of site seeing, good lunch, a little walking and lots of wine! The wine to buy was super cheap as well! We brought several bottles back! Definitely would recommend!
