This day trip was the perfect end to our week in Lisbon! We loved the relaxed nature of this trip, and if you like history and archeological sites, this day trip is perfect to see that. Our tour guide was funny, knowledgeable, and made the day a great one overall. We liked that they were smaller vans rather than the larger buses.

We had a wonderful guide, Nuno, who made the experience memorable. He absolutely knows all there is to know about each stop. E felt we had made a friend for life when the day finished. This tour is an incredible opportunity and should not be missed.

Beautiful church with skulls/ nice ride / the most interesting was the mini Stonehenge like rock collection
Roxanne_S, Mar 2026
Our guide was very experienced & enthusiastic about the city& its heritage. Gave good suggestions on dining and things to do with our free time. Very enjoyable trip
Raffi_T, Mar 2026
Our guide was Nuno, a personable guide who was very flexible with the itinerary and timing of the tour. He even added an extra stop to visit more megaliths after making sure that no one in the group had a pressing deadline. It was a nice day.

Our wonderful guide made this tour a lot of fun. Evora was absolutely beautiful! The cathedral was absolutely worth visiting so don’t skip it!
Maria_S, Mar 2026
A small group in a comfortable van with an amazing tour guide who provided information on places that we were just driving by as well as being a knowledgeable person who was able to transport us to centuries ago.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Maria: that's precisely what we feel Évora can give you! It can transport you back and help you understand how Humanity evolved. It's incredible to imagine people walking the same ground thousands of years ago!
Glad you enjoyed!
Thanks for all!

This was a nice tour. Something good to do when you spend several days in Lisbon. The megaliths were nice but a bit underwhelming. Evora is pretty, the Chapel of Bones and Church are beautiful. Overall, good experience but not something to do when you only have a short time in Lisbon. The guide was great.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Dear Elodie:
It's true that Évora is not on many people's bucket list for Portugal, but we believe is one of the most valuable (hidden) gems to visit.
The megaliths have different impacts from one person to the other. Some people just have an amazing experience there.
We're glad you came with us!
Be back anytime!

A wonderful day where we crossed over the "1974"bridge and git a flavor of agricultural Portugal. We weren't able to see the largest Cromlech due to a washed out road but we weren't able able to see another site and a funerary monolith. We had a lovely time in Évora seeing the Roman ruins, climbing to the top of the cathedral and then to the chapel of bones and the Franciscan church. Thiago was an accommodating and knowledgeable guide who gave us a relaxing and enjoyable day! I highly recommend this tour.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Thanks, Sherilyn!
It's been hard to navigate all the constaints caused by the storms, but we try hard to find a way around them!
Happy you had a great time!
Be back anytime!!!

From start to finish, the tour was perfect! Donny was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Despite the hurricane-force winds and storm, he ensured that the group had an enjoyable and fun-filled day.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Thanks for your words, Michael!
The weather has been challenging, but we're glad we're still able to tour with quality.
Diogo (Donny) knows the area and is trained to find alternatives when conditions are less than perfect (as the road conditions nowadays).
Hope to see you back soon!

Wonderful experience from the start to finish, thanks to our driver/tour guide Diego who made the trip pleasant and informative. We were picked up from and dropped off at our hotel. We learned a lot about Lisbon while he picked up other guests. We also learned the history of Portugal and the city of Evora. We had a tasteful Portugal lunch based on his recommendation. Although the weather was not ideal today, we were happy that we made the trip.
Response from Host, Feb 2026
Thank you so much for taking the time to submit your feedback. Diogo is a great guy and guide indeed!
We hope to see you back in Lisbon soon!

The guide was very k ownedable and care to take us to amazing point of interest beyond the tour scope

It was a big day. I would recommend that you take snacks. One of the best experiences I have had. I visited Evora 3 years ago and stayed for 4 days - I learnt more today in 1 day. Our driver was so knowledgeable and happily answered everyone's questions. We are two 70 year olds travelling with our 20 year old granddaughter (history nut uni student) and we can't stop talking about the experience. I wouldn't want to take small children on such a journey but for us it was perfect.

Our guide Diogo (Donny) was an incredible repository of information. He was not lost for words. He gave us so much knowledge and he clearly takes pleasure in showing tourists his country. The Megalithic structures are not what you’d associate with Portugal and yet they are amazing to see. The Chapel of the Bones in Évora is strangely calming and reflective and it is worth climbing to the top of the tower of the Catedral de Santa Maria provides great views and it is not often you walk across the roof of a Cathedral. Travelling across Vasco de Gama Bridge is its self a great engineering marvel
Kay_S, Nov 2025
This all-day tour of Evora and its ancient surrounds revealed a megalithic and Roman past, the Alentejo landscape less impacted by the maritime climate of Lisbon. We appreciated the pick-up at our lodging and the historical commentary from our guide, Nuno, during the long ride inland and home again. Although the main megalithic site was unavailble, the visit to a similar site at the Vale Maria do Meio was as iconic, as was the stop at the Centro Interpretativo dos Almendres. We had sufficient time in Evora for a nice lunch at the Pateo Restaurant, followed by a walking tour of the churches and Roman temple ruins of the ancient walled city.

Long drive but Évora is not to be missed and the megaliths were incredible. We learned a ton as we took in the sights. One word of caution: the last mile of road to see the megaliths was the worst I’ve ever ridden on.

It is quite a long drive to Evora from Lisbon, but on a modern highway. Evora itself has limited appeal as a destination. It is a pleasant place to visit, but the highlight of the trip was definitely seeing the stone circle which had its own challenges to reach as the road is quite rough. Our guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining but his driving was very aggressive and fast. So much so that it made the journey quite uncomfortable. I would not recommend going on this trip during the rainy season as the road to the stone circle may well be unpassable.

I had a wonderful trip to Avora and the megaliths. My tour director Ariana was great. She said she was in training but she was very knowledgeable in her own right. Saw all the great spots in Avora. I would totally recommend
Leslie_K, Oct 2025
The highlight of this tour was learning about cork trees and cork harvesting and the megaliths (even though we didn’t see the larger one due to to access issues). Evora is a quaint and ancient town, similar to others we had visited. The blend of Roman and subsequent civilizations was intriguing.

The tour has one main attraction and the rest of the day is filled with activities which are just there to fill the time to make a full day itinerary.
Even the advertised main attraction was cancelled at the last minute and substituted with another less significant filler activity.
The excuse for the cancellation was that the road to the site is under repair.
I later came to understand that the repairs has been ongoing for quite sometime. But the tour operator is still claiming that activity as the main attraction of the tour, knowing fully that it will not happen.
I was disappointed. There are other better things to do around Lisbon.
Response from Host, Oct 2025
Dear gkasbe...:
Thanks for sharing your feedback.
Unfortunately, we can't identify your booking from your name, but we're deeply sorry that you were disappointed with our tour.
The "main attraction" you refer is the Almendres Cromelech, and getting there has been more than challenging, lately. Fortunately, this issue is about to be normalized and access should be resumed these days.
But you visited a smaller cromelech, Vale da Maria do Meio, where you could learn exactly the same as in Almendres, but benefiting from much more autonomy and liberty to touch, walk around and enjoy this Megalith site.
Other than that, you spent your day in one of the most beautiful and charming areas of our country, seeing and touching human structures dated thousands of years, learning about cork, visiting Roman Temples and the unique Bones Chapel.
Also, you had time to explore the lovely town center of a centuries-old walled city, with its small local commerce and amazing restaurants, where you could have lunch with time and no rush.
That is what Alentejo and Évora are all about. Should have been an amazing opportunity to enjoy a calmer day, away from the crowds and close to nature and History.
We're deeply sorry that you couldn't enjoy it because the "main attraction" was inaccessible.
However, if you want to try it again, we're more than happy to offer you a second visit. Maybe this time you can feel what the tour is all about.
Thanks for everything!

Great experience! Alex was very knowledgeable, gave clear explanations and examples of what we were seeing and doing. Do this tour

A very well organized tour. Our tour guide, Tiago, was very knowledgeable and interacted very well with all members of our small group tour to Èvora. Our pick-up time was communicated to us in advance and the pick-up was very prompt. Everyone I contacted at Around Lisbon both by email & by telephone were very cordial and helpful.

Nuno is a warm, knowledgeable guide who shared a thorough tour of the sites of Evora including the Roman temple, cathedral and Chapel of bones. The pace was steady, with time to explore the megaliths and have a leisurely lunch at a restaurant of our choosing. Many magical sights and insights into Evora history and present day. Included information about the cork trees and industry. Strongly recommend as a day trip from Lisbon.

Comfortable, the guide, Jaoa was knowledgeable and friendly. Within a few minutes the 6 guests and Joao were laughing and talking, this continued for the whole day. The stops were well thought out and explained very well. No one was rushed, in fact we got back a little late but no one cared.

Just got back from our trip to Evora and the megaliths and my whole family had an amazing time! Diogo picked us up at our apartment and was friendly, engaging and incredibly knowledgeable! He gave us all kinds of interesting local knowledge as we made the drive to Evora about the fishermen as we crossed the bridge, the giant nests on the high powerline towers, the different flora and fauna of the areas we passed through and tons of history. It was never boring and always cool to hear the stories and history as you viewed the things he was talking about on the drive. The prehistoric sites were quite awe inspiring set in the natural beauty of Portugal's countryside and the trip to Evora felt quite quick. Diogo gave us a quick rundown of the layout and history of the town, gave us advice on places to go and see as well as letting us know what was worth the price of admission and what wasn't, where to eat the local delicacies and where to get the best prices on souvenirs. We were really appreciative of the free time he allotted on our tour for us to explore Evora on our own for a bit before meeting up with him and seeing the bone cathedral. Again he gave us the right amount of backstory and then let us explore on our own to discover more if we wished. We all finished our tour with big smiles on our faces and very much enjoyed our time with Diogo who clearly went out of his way to make it an enjoyable experience. One hundred percent we would do another tour with this company and without a doubt would do another tour with Diogo!

It was super hot that day. Tour guide brought 2 waters for everyone which was really nice. It was a good tour. Saw lots of sites

We had an absolutely great time. John, our guide, amazing and the tour was great. Highly recommend the tour!

This was a full day of seeing the countryside outside of Lisbon and enjoying a medieval town. We had the right amount of guided and free time. Nuno was great! We got so lucky to witness a goat herd roundup with border collies while visiting the dolmens. It was a very picturesque day.

We had an amazing experience with Nu Nu as our guide. He was warm, engaging, and incredibly knowledgeable—especially about Évora, which was an awesome place to see. His insights and passion brought the city’s history to life and made the whole trip feel meaningful. Highly recommend him if you want a memorable and enriching experience!

Joao is a great guide. We enjoyed our trip to Évora and the megaliths. We appreciate Joao picking us up and dropping us off at our hotel. Joao was knowledgeable about the historic and religious sites we visited and was extremely timely. We highly recommend Joao and this tour!
