Itinerary
Meet your guide in central Lisbon and hop into an air-conditioned minivan for your small-group guided day trip to Fátima, Nazaré and Óbidos. Begin with a journey north to the once quaint village of Fátima now a prominent Christian sanctuary. Arrive and learn about the three shepherd children who claimed to see Our Lady of Fátima dressed in white in 1917. Stroll with your guide to the famous Sanctuary of Fatima, a basilica which draws millions of religious people annually who homage to the shrine.
From here, travel to the 14th-century Batalha Monastery renowned for its compelling examples of of ornate gothic architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the monastery, follow your guide into the royal tomb and see the Founder’s Chapel. Hear about the noble family that rests here including Queen Philippa of Lancaster, King João I and their heir Prince Henry the Navigator.
Continue to the quiet fishing village of Nazaré, a favorite summer vacation spot for the Portuguese. Here, take a break for lunch at a local cafe or restaurant (own expense). Learn about the locals who fish here before heading onward to the Nazaré cliffs. Reach the gorgeous small towns of São Martinho do Porto and Foz do Arelho and whip out your camera for quaint farm-country shots.
Next, cruise along the impressive cliff-laden coast as you journey to Óbidos, a medieval village established in 208 BC. Enter past its fortified walls and discover slender streets, gothic facades, and vibrant houses. Alongside your guide, learn about King Dinis who gifted Óbidos to his new wife Queen Isabel in 1282 which led locals to refer to Óbidos as ‘wedding present town.’ As you walk notice the window sills decorated with flower pots and colorful tiles. Then, stop at a local wine shop for a taste of Ginja liqueur, a cherry flavored spirit and perhaps savor a snack. Finally, enjoy perusing through an artisan’s shop with a wide variety of handmade ceramics before returning to Lisbon where your tour concludes.

This excursion was excellent and highly recommended. We had the best tour guide, Alberto. He was extremely knowledgeable and helpful throughout the tour. As Catholics, Fatima was very special and not to be missed. Nazare was a beautiful beach town! Alberto recommended a seafood restaurant with delicious Shrimp Pasta. I loved Obidos, an old medieval town with cobblestone streets and shops. Overall, this tour delivered on three different experiences, each not to be missed.

Gonzalo was a very knowledgeable tour guide, kept us in awe with all the history and explanations, he provided historical facts about the entire country and Europe

You wont regret this trip. They have very friendly, funny tourguide so you may forget the time passing. If you want to change from crowded, busy city to a coastal village, a historic and old town, you should try this.

Orlando our guide and driver was too good. Lots of knowledge and very safe driving. Very polite and a true gentleman. I will recommend everyone visiting Lisbon to take this tour

Nice day trip from Lisbon. Benny was a very good guide/driver but could have filled in some more of the travel time with information about the areas.
Fatima was quiet and not much time is needed to see the sights. Nazare is a beautiful beach town. Lunch at the recommended restaurant was very good. Be aware the portions are large and can easily feed two and the price reflects that.
Obidos is a lovely spot but overrun.
The tour was a good value and interesting but not great.

The bus day trip was terrible. Everyone I turned on my headphones a lady is singing terrible music which was so annoying
Response from Host, Jun 2026
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear about your experience.
However, we believe there may be some confusion regarding the tour operator. We do not operate bus tours, nor do we provide headphones or audio guides. Our tours are conducted in small vehicles, and our guides provide live commentary using a microphone throughout the journey.
As the experience you describe involves headphones playing recorded music, it does not appear to match the services offered by our company. We kindly invite you to verify the tour provider, as your comments may have been intended for another operator.
Kind regards,
Antonio

Van was new and comfortable, however the 9 hour duration is too long.
I liked the stop at the Gothic church in Balatha and it is worth a mention in the ads. Too bad the battle site was skipped. I suggest add it and spend less time in Nazare.
Paula_M, Jun 2026
Great locations visited and appropriate time applications for each. The sites were lovely of the tour guide was great.
Frank_B, Jun 2026
The tour was great. I was comfortable and felt safe at all times in the transport vehicle. Fátima was an emotional time, a very moving experience. Nazare and Obidos were fantastic as well. I had a great day. Felipe, our tour guide was very knowledgeable. He was courteous and kind. He drove well. Th tour couldn’t have been better. A perfect day.

We had a fantastic tour of Fátima, Nazaré, and Óbidos. Our guide Sergio was outstanding – knowledgeable, engaging, empathetic, and extremely professional. He shared fascinating information about each destination and communicated everything in a warm and captivating way. His kindness and attention to the group made the whole experience even more enjoyable. We highly recommend this tour and are very grateful for such an excellent guide. Thank you for a truly memorable day!

Very memorable trip this is. 3 major places with each attraction the captures your soul, your body and your spirit. In Fatima you can visit the graves of Jacinta, Francisco and Lucia at the Basilica. There is also another New Basilica where masses are offered. If you do not like extremely big crowd, don't come on the 13th of every month. Nazare offers stunning views if the ocean, the beach and the paniramic sight of huge waves. Beside the beach I experienced a taste of Portuguese fish and wine for lunch and a quick swim by the water. In Obidos I have a chance to taste chocolate ginger wine. Cobbled stone walk towards the remnants of Old castle. Very beautiful. This is a MUST SEE tour in Portugal. Very worth it and affordable. 7 of us in this tour, 2 from Croatia, 2 from US, 1 from Canada, 2 from UK. We were all satisfied awed by the entire experience. Our driver even made a side trip to Batalla, a town with a stunning Medieval Cathedral. Come and try this 3-in-1 tour.

How guide Paulo was excellent. Lots of information, convenient drop offs, good lunch suggestion, easy driving, and pleasant company. We enjoyed our stops and with flexible times, stayed the right amount of time. Obrigado!

Well organized and they did a fabulous job taking us to all the local hot spots outside of Lisbon. enjoyed every minute and guide was extremely knowledgeable of all the local history!
Brenda_F, May 2026
This was just enough time to take in the sites, our tour guide was very knowledgeable, professional and loved talking with us. Highly recommend.
madrin_L, May 2026
Guide was funny and very knowledgeable. Tour was relaxing and moved at an easy pace. The restaurant and wine he selected was perfect.
Sal_A, May 2026
Felt safe and welcomed. Tour guide well informed and provide information along the way. Guide spoke english, clean and dressed appropriately. Vehicle clean and had safety belts which guide insisted we used.
Terri_C, May 2026
Our guide was wonderful and very knowledgeable. He took us to delightful places includes a great family owned restaurant where we ate fish caught just four hours earlier
mark_n, May 2026
The tour was great, we did multiple different tours in lisbon (this one, a walking tour of Lisbon, and a food tour) and Andre was the best guide.
I was a little disappointed in Fatima. But that had nothing to do with the tour itself. I think it was my expectations.
Nazerra was a cute little seaside town
Obidos was the coolest part of the tour.
Walked along the medieval wall. Not mandatory and not for the faint of heart as narrow, bi-directional, and no protective handrails. But very cool experience
Heron_A, May 2026
The tour guide was very knowledable, friendly and patient. He was amazing. The places that we visited were fantastic and we had enough time to explore without rush.
Steven_Y, May 2026
Fabio was an excellent guide! Very knowledgeable and engaging! Could not have been better. The issue with this tour concerns the itinerary. Two of the major stops were closed. The Fatima basilica because it was on a Sunday. The Batalha monastery because it was under renovation. The tour operators would have known this in advance and should notify you prior to booking. Aside from our guide, the day was somewhat underwhelming.
Response from Host, May 2026
Thank you for your feedback and for your kind words about Fabio, we’re very happy to hear that you found him knowledgeable and engaging. We’ll be sure to pass along your comments to him.
We’re sorry to hear that parts of the itinerary did not meet your expectations. Regarding Fátima, while the Basilica itself remains open on Sundays, certain areas and ceremonies may have limited access due to religious services and operational restrictions beyond our control. As for the Batalha Monastery, the renovation works are managed by the local authorities and, unfortunately, closures or restricted access can sometimes happen with limited notice.
That said, we understand your disappointment and appreciate your feedback. We are continuously working to improve the information provided to guests whenever there are known changes affecting visits.
Thank you once again for joining us, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you on another tour in the future.
Kind regards,
António

Exceptional tour. Our driver, Gonzalo, was amazing, professional and very experienced. All the stops were great. Highly recommend.
wenjingye, May 2026
Very nice. Ricardo is very patient and we enjoyed the small village of Obidos. Unfortunately, there isn’t enough time to explore completely.
Marianne_D, May 2026
Very pleasant and knowledgeable tour guide. Our tour was in English and Spanish although we signed up for English only. Viator disclosed in “rare” instances tours may be given in more than one language.
Marija_B, May 2026
Miguel our guide was great, we saw everything we planned except the entrance to the chapel in Batalha had to be paid for by extra. Small suggestion for tour operators to consider including this option for the future.
Kelly_H, May 2026
Such a great tour. I highly recommend. Our guild shared so much information and we had plenty of time to explore.
Bubu, May 2026
We had a tour booked on Viator with Inside Lisbon, to Fatima, Nazare, Batalha monastery and Obidos. Orlando our guide did a great job for this bilingual tour in Spanish and French. He provided very rich information, gave us very good recommendations all along the way. Good transportation quality, enough time to enjoy. A couple of recommendations for improvement: Fatima factory souvenir shop should happen after seeing the church and the altar in Fatima (more chance to buy things that mean something for the overall experience), Batalha church/monastery had some sections only accessible with a ticket and we were not informed about the possibility. When we realised the other parts were opened, there was not enough time left, so we only visited the church not the monastery (partially opened) and not the special church side. Obidos was the highlight. A good overall experience.
Margie_P, May 2026
Very knowledgeable tour guide. Also, very welcoming. Vehicle was comfortable and accommodating. Maybe the drivers should have bottled water to offer the guests. Otherwise outstanding tour!
Jeff_D, May 2026
This was a very nice tour! Our guide was quite knowledgeable and navigated the streets and highways quite deftly and safely. Very comfortable and clean vehicle. Nazare and Obidos were our favorite stops, but all the stops contributed to a nice day. Just enough time at each one. Our lunch in Nazare (tour guide recommendation) was awesome! Would definitely recommend this one.
Response from Host, May 2026
Thank you so much for your kind review! We’re delighted to hear that you had such a great experience and enjoyed the different stops throughout the day.
It’s wonderful to know that Nazaré and Óbidos were highlights for you, and that you appreciated the guide’s knowledge, as well as the comfort of the vehicle. We’re also very happy that you enjoyed the lunch recommendation in Nazaré!
Thank you for recommending our tour — we truly appreciate it and hope to welcome you again in the future.
Kind regards,
Antonio
