So beautiful and lots of fun! Great tour guides and loved the short hike. Amazing trees and info about the forest! We ate lots of berries we picked along the path, soaked in the fresh air and ended with delicious smoked salmon.

FOR DOWNTOWN CRUISE SHIP PASSENGERS & Other Guests: After disembarking your cruise ship, please proceed to the shelter at Cruise Berth 3. The shelter is on the dock next to the "Visitors Information - Restrooms" building and Sockeye Sam's Store. It's across the street from the tunnel. (NOTE: this is NOT the berth 2 Visitors Center). The walk is approximately 2-5 minutes depending at which pier you are docked. The address is 425 Water Street. Our driver will be present 15 minutes before all departures holding a RED sign that says "KETCHIKAN KAYAK CO." FOR CRUISE SHIP PASSENGERS Docking AT THE MILL AT WARD COVE: (Norwegian Cruise Lines + Some Others) After disembarking your cruise ship, please proceed to the brick building "The Mill at Ward Cove." Proceed through the building to the right. Tour vendors will be greeting guests for excursions in the corner near the restrooms and the large overhead door. Look for our driver with a RED sign that reads "KETCHIKAN KAYAK CO." 15 minutes AFTER the departure time. Otherwise all guests docking at Ward Cove will be expected to be picked up at Ward Cove. *Remember to turn off airplane mode when you pull into port to aid in communication should there be any delays or should any issues arise the day of your excursion.

Itinerary

Kick off your Ketchikan adventure with a convenient hotel or port pickup, or meet at the central meeting point. Embark on an e-bike tour into Tongass National Forest, where the electric assist feature eases your uphill journey.

As you explore, you might see local wildlife like deer or salmon, especially during certain seasons. Your guide, well-versed in the area's ecology, will lead you to notable spots and teach you about local wildlife and plants, adding depth to your experience.

Along the way, discover Ketchikan’s "Road to Nowhere," with opportunities to dismount for a guided hike. Discover picturesque scenes including waterfalls, beach views, and dense forest trails.

Pause along the sea shoreline, where marine life such as porpoises, seals, and sea lions are often sighted.

Later, refuel with snacks like smoked salmon and refreshments, with vegan options available. The tour then concludes with a return to your original meeting point.

Great way to experience a different part of Ketchikan

BRYAN_M, Sep 2026
What a fun adventure and a unique way to explore different areas of Ketchikan! The pickup from the cruise ship was seamless. The short van ride to the location to get the e-bikes was beautiful. The bikes were easy to handle. The hike at the end of the road was informative and a great way to learn more about the Alaska nature. But the cherry on top was watching the black bear hunt for her salmon lunch in the creek. What a thrill to watch her catch a fish! Anika was a fabulous guide and it was enjoyable to experience her enthusiasm about Alaska. Definitely a highlight of our trip!

Enjoying the outdoors

Jill_B, Sep 2026
We had exceptionally good weather for our activity. First time on an E bike and it was effortless. Honestly, like riding a scooter, you hardly had to peddle on the hills. Our guides were safety aware, and the natural beauty of Alaska was on full display. I found it easy to get distracted while riding. We loved it! We are active seniors in our 70's and still ride our mountain bikes in Utah.

Nice Hike

Michael_H, Sep 2026
The ebike ride is mainly straight on the edge of the street for 6 miles R/T, and the hike is about 1.5 miles thru the forest down to the beach. Beautiful hike but boring bike ride. Could use some trails.

Bike ride was really just...

Laura_F, Sep 2026
Bike ride was really just a means to an end. The hike and the superior guide were the real jewel of this tour. Cam and Rmily were friendly, helpful and so knowledgeable about the flora and the fauna.

Great tour with Anika. Learned a lot about the rain forest, the salmon, the trees and bio density They provided appropriate rain gear which meant our items were dry at the end. Bikes were great. Highly recommend.

Great activity off a cruise ship

Ellen_A, Sep 2026
We had a great time. Anika, our guide, was competent and fun! The bikes were easy to use and the hike was awesome.

eBike and Hike was fun!

Corrinne_R, Sep 2026
Very fun ride and hike excursion in our Ketchikan stop off of a Holland America cruise. Easy to manage. The Ebikes were distributed to the participants by the staff, and the staff helped to ensure that the seat was adjusted to each person. The Ebike ride was on a low traffic road. Once we reached the rainforest, there was an interesting hike. The guide was fun and informative. Would recommend!!

Great tour, rode ebikes to the rainforest and beach!

Kristina_M, Aug 2026
The guides were great at sizing us for bikes and instructing how to use them. We took a 5 mile bike ride down to the rainforest and took a little hike to see the salmon in the creek and the beach. Then we rode back. The bikes were great and not too much effort required.

Fun Experience!

Laura_H, Aug 2026
This experience was a quick trip from our ship and it was a small group! The guides, Anika and Austin were awesome. We saw some beautiful waterfalls and enjoyed our hike in the rain forest. We also were able to see a starfish - up close and personal AND we still had some time to explore Ketchikan!

Must do this tour

Jack_H, Aug 2026
Great time and Anika was a fantastic guide. Gave quick E bike lesson. Then off to see sites with line of e bikes stopping at water falls on the way. Hike in forest and watch fish swim up stream.

My favorite excursion during our cruise!

JohnP_D, Aug 2026
Our Alaskan e-bike and rainforest tour was absolutely incredible. Our guide has only lived in Alaska for four months, but you would never know it. We were so impressed with her knowledge of the area and the wealth of information she shared about the rainforest ecosystem. Her high energy is contagious, and her genuine passion for working with people made the entire trip unforgettable. We throughly enjoyed the bike ride and the hike.

Well worth the money!

Anaclaudia_F, Aug 2026
If every tour guide were this awesome, I’d sign up for tours every weekend! They were funny, knowledgeable, and somehow managed to keep the whole group entertained while teaching us so much. We laughed, learned, and never once checked the time—which says a lot! Thanks for making this one of the highlights of our trip. Five stars aren’t enough!

Bike & Hike Tour

Nancy_B, Aug 2026
This was a fantastic experience….Vessna did a great job making us feel comfortable on our ride and with the bikes. She was very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna in the area. We were lucky to have a guest ecologist/ forester, Mike, on our tour who enhanced the discussions about all things in the forrest with Vessna. I learned so much between the two of them. We saw a Humpback Whale, deer, learned about Salmon berries and others. The scenery was amazing. I was a little worried that I wouldn't keep up with more experienced riders, however, everyone helped each other and it was a fairly easy ride! Highly recommend!!
