It's a great experience led by experts. Our guides were kind and patient giving e-biking instructions to a bunch of newbies and were very knowledgeable about the area during our forest hike. I'd advise anyone who's ever ridden a bike to give it try. It was a lot of fun!

We had a great day on the EBike/Rain Forest tour. The EBikes were in great working order, our Guide, Chandler, was exceptional. He was a wealth of information regarding the Rain Forest, as well. We appreciate the rain pants provided, as well. They helped during the light, but, pesty showers . Two thumbs up for Chandler and the entire Ketchikan Kayak crew

We Pick up guests at Downtown Cruise Docks & Ward Cove Cruise Ship Docks. Please Read ALL Meeting Instructions! FOR DOWNTOWN CRUISE SHIP PASSENGERS & Other Guests: After disembarking your cruise ship, please proceed to the shelter at Cruise Berth 3. The shelter is on the dock next to the "Visitors Information - Restrooms" building and Sockeye Sam's Store. It's across the street from the tunnel. (NOTE: this is NOT the berth 2 Visitors Center). The walk is approximately 2-5 minutes depending at which pier you are docked. The address is 425 Water Street. Our driver will be present 15 minutes before all departures holding a RED sign that says "KETCHIKAN KAYAK CO." FOR CRUISE SHIP PASSENGERS Docking AT THE MILL AT WARD COVE: (Norwegian Cruise Lines + Some Others) After disembarking your cruise ship, please proceed to the brick building "The Mill at Ward Cove." Otherwise all guests docking at Ward Cove will be expected to be picked up at Ward Cove. *Remember to turn off airplane mode when you pull into port to aid in communication should there be any delays or should any issues arise the day of your excursion.

Itinerary

Kick off your Ketchikan adventure with a convenient hotel or port pickup, or meet at the central meeting point. Embark on an e-bike tour into Tongass National Forest, where the electric assist feature eases your uphill journey.

As you explore, you might see local wildlife like deer or salmon, especially during certain seasons. Your guide, well-versed in the area's ecology, will lead you to notable spots and teach you about local wildlife and plants, adding depth to your experience.

Along the way, discover Ketchikan’s "Road to Nowhere," with opportunities to dismount for a guided hike. Discover picturesque scenes including waterfalls, beach views, and dense forest trails.

Pause along the sea shoreline, where marine life such as porpoises, seals, and sea lions are often sighted.

Later, refuel with snacks like smoked salmon and refreshments, with vegan options available. The tour then concludes with a return to your original meeting point.

PERFECT. This made my hole trip so much better

Joseph_W, Sep 2025
Chandler was my guide. He was so friendly. It was only myself and him. We did the hike in the woods and we saw at least 4 different bears. I will do this again. If I could attach a picture or a video of my bears I would. I loved it

Nice, beautiful day

angie_w, Sep 2025
My husband pulled his back the day prior to us leaving on our cruise and was unable to join. There were only three of us that day on the ebike/hike tour. Reivon and Dana were so kind, informative and truly let you ride at your pace with no pressure to keep up. They ride behind you. Dana mainly taught you the ebike tutorial and Reivon took over on the hike. The Ebikes are pretty simple but you definitely had to get use to the slight thrust forward when you began to pedal after resting going down a hill. The hike was a short one down to the ocean where you'll walk along the rocky shore. We were lucky enough to see a sea lion just off the coast, but saw no other wild life. We tasted different berries along the way and stopped at falls and waterways. Don't be afraid of the ebikes. You will get the hang of it. The hike is in and out. The red cedars are huge and beautiful.

Salmon coming home

Art_F, Sep 2025
Chandler was very thoughtful and thorough. We hit a cooler rainy day so rain gear planning was a plus. They had some extra rain gear for the two others without. This is a nice out and back. Bikes were in great condition. Realize this is a bike and hike. Maybe a mile hike where you get to explore a lovely forest canopy. A fantastic water flow with the falls leading out to the bay. Our timing was perfect the first part of September so we were so fortunate to experience the salmon coming home to lay their eggs. Wonderful bonus to our ride. Great overall tour and tour guide

Great Bike ride and Hike though the rain Forrest Forrest.

The Staff at Ketchikan Kayak co, Forrest, Raven, Sofie and Teddy. Were Awesome, they provided us with a educational and fun experience. They just for the rain.

My FAV Alaskan Tour

Angela_L, Aug 2025
This was an incredible experience! I loved that you could go at your own pace and enjoy the beauty that surrounds you in Alaska. The tour wasn't too long or too short on time, it was perfect! Our guides were very knowledgeable about the rain forest and the life among it.

Excellent tour

Koda and Raven did a great job. We enjoyed the ride and the beauty. I would recommend this tour. The bikes were nice and comfortable

Bikes, waterfalls, beaches, forests…A+++

Richard_W, Aug 2025
Such a fun excursion. Sophie and Koda were our guides and they were amazing. The e-bikes took a little getting used to but what a blast. We had the best weather and the scenery on and off the bikes was stunning. Sophie and Koda were both very knowledgeable and friendly and patient with everyone. You don’t need to be an athlete to do this excursion but there is a steep hill to push your bike up at the beginning which was probably the most difficult part. You ride the e-bikes on a road with other cars but it’s not a busy road by any means. You get to feel the wind in your face, see the stunning Alaskan views and several waterfalls on the way to the hike then the hike goes down to a beach. Truly a wonderful sightseeing trip with a little physical activity involved. Probably one of my favorite excursions of my whole cruise.

Awesome experience

Dave_P, Aug 2025
Knowledgeable and friendly guides made this tour fun and amazing! E-bikes were very easy to use. Hike had options for difficulty.

Beautiful day in the rain forest

Kathy_R, Aug 2025
Super fun to bike and hike to the rain forest I never knew I'd be visiting in Alaska! The guides were great and informative.

Know restrictions before you book.

Karen_B, Aug 2025
Be sure to cancel AT LEAST 24 hours in advance if you need to. Our ship had to detour due to 2 back to back Coast Guard medivac evacuations. I contacted them as soon as we were notified which was 15 minutes inside the 24 hour window. They booked us on a later tour without contacting us for approval and sent the info by email which we did not see until we returned to our room later in the day. VERY disappointed and no indication they plan on refunding our $322.

This was such a a lovely tour during our day in Ketchikan. A scenic cycle on well maintained bikes followed by a walk in the magical coastal forest on the outskirts of Ketchikan. We had the lovely Sophie as our guide who made the experience extra special. Highly recommended.

Perfect outdoor excursion!

Chase_A, Aug 2025
Such a great experience! Our guides were so knowledgeable about the area, it was a beautiful hike and thankfully, the weather was amazing for us! Highly recommend!

Excellent opportunity to get away from town and experience nature. Lucky enough to spot a mother bear with 2 cubs.

This tour is definitely worth doing

Peter_N, Aug 2025
A big thank you to Chandler and Sophie for an excellent tour. Everything which is set out in the description of the tour is correct. The ebikes are of a very good quality and Chandler provided a full explanation on how to use the bikes. The bikes are very easy to get used to and the riding is along a sealed road with very little traffic. The hike in the rainforest and on to the beach was also great. Whilst not overly strenuous, the hike does involve a bit of walking up and down steps. Having said that, everyone in the group was over 60yo and had no problems at all and really enjoyed the tour. Chandler and Sophie did not rush us at all and they took the safety of the group seriously.

Lovely and educational hike combined with fun bike ride!

Amy_S, Aug 2025
Fun ride on electric bikes to the rainforest, followed by very enjoyable hike. Raven and Chandler were quite knowledgeable about the flora and fauna of the forest. This is a great excursion!

Amazing adventure

Jeanne_H, Aug 2025
Amazing adventure at a great value. The guides were super friendly, knowledgeable and very safety conscious. This is a great way to see some amazing sights and get some exercise in the beautiful Alaskan rainforest. They meet you right at the cruise ship docks in a central location to all the ships.

The Great Outdoors

Jan_B, Aug 2025
We enjoyed the electric bikes and easy hike through the rain forest. Chandler and Raven were great guides and knowledgeable about the flora and fauna. It was nice to get off the ship and be on beautiful land. It is worth the time and money. Got us back in time for ship departure. Well organized. Thank you Chandler and Raven.

Dale_P, Jul 2025
The hike is the real gem on this tour. The forest is smothered in green and like something out of a storybook. Great guides who were very knowledgeable and took the time to keep us safe.

Customer service 10/10

Jodi_R, Jul 2025
We had a very difficult time with the pickup location due to Viato’s super vague instructions. If you are on the Norwegian Bliss, STAY AT THE PORT AREA!!! Ketchikan Kayak will come pick you up there!! Don’t panic and take the shuttle downtown. Ok, once we found out where to go our tour left because we were 20 minutes late. The supervisor went so far out of his way to help us. He took us in his personal vehicle on his day off, to where the E-bikes are kept and where the tour starts. They had a guide to meet us there to give us a private tour. (Turns out we went with another couple because Viator screwed their directions up, too). Our guide Koda, was awesome. She was knowledgeable, friendly and our hike was at a perfect pace for us all to keep up but we got to see a lot. The bikes were comfortable, I’m 2 days later after the ride and I’m not sore at all. 10/10 recommend this company. Just make sure you get the pickup instructions because they said Viator has been confusing people a lot lately. Have fun!! We did.

Great day

cherylsusan_s, Jul 2025
Electric bikes were a lot of fun! They are extremely well maintained. Our guides for the rainforest hike were Raven and Chandler both were very knowledgeable. You can choose between 2 hiking routes one a little shorter and easier than the other. It was a great day.

Great guide, small group and solid pick up recovery.

Stephen_H, Jul 2025
Great tour. Slight hiccup on meeting place. Beware Viator app showed wrong location for us and another couple. The tour company though called and played ‘catch-up’ so we missed nothing. Guide Cory was adorable and knowledgeable. Once more booking direct we got a small group event avoiding the inevitable cruise crowds and inflated prices.

Great family fun

Janine_D, Jul 2025
So much fun! Guides were fun and knowledgeable. The bikes are easy to use. The hiking paths are well maintained.

Recommend!!

The_A, Jul 2025
Chandler was super knowledgeable and a wonderful guide! The electric bikes were a breeze and I really felt like I was seeing Alaska up close and personal walking through the rainforest.

Overpriced

Donna_R, Jul 2025
The hike through the rain forest was quite good and our guide was knowledgeable about flora. E-bike was elementary…we rode down an highway; overall, the tour was overpriced. The hike is Lunch Falls trail, Tongass NF, 0.7 miles. Find it yourself and save money.

Best way to see the island!

Angela_E, Jul 2025
What an amazing experience! Reiven was so knowledgeable and helped me to appreciate all that I was seeing. Bikes are in tip top condition and such a smooth ride. There is forest, waterfalls, and beach; a lot of every beautiful scenery you could ever want in a bike tour. This was a great excursion on my Alaska cruise.

Great experience

Jennifer_H, Jul 2025
We really enjoyed this trip. Easy to get to and great bikes. The hike was very informative and it was beautiful to see the beach.

The bike and hike...

Frank_H, Jul 2025
The bike and hike experience was great. Our guide was a naturalist and very knowledgeable. Viator did not specify the area of the cruise dock to meet the tour company van. This took extra time to find them.
