Although we didn’t get to see a bear, the excursion was worth it! It was a very rainy day, river was high and flowing fast. Saw some salmon, explored the Totem Pole Museum, saw a waterfall and learned a lot about Ketchikan and the culture. Our guide was great!

Chad was VERY informative! Took us to great little spots out of the way and made us feel like we were the only people there when others were nearby. Absolutely WONDERFUL and so glad we decided to book as a last minute excursion! Highly recommend!

Late in the season but still worth it

    Larry_D, Oct 2025
Daniel was a very informative and engaging guide. The wildlife sightings were limited as we were quite late in the season but Daniel gave us a great overview of the island and his experiences there.

    Fun trip and good price

We were on a short visit on a cruise. Daniel was very accommodating for a self-caused issue. Saw some good wildlife and learned a lot about the local culture.

    Great tour

Great tour. Good communication and Daniel was a great host.Didnt get to see bears but loved the salmon run

Not the best option for a late season tour.

    Joe_H, Sep 2025
We did this tour on September 25. Apparently that is pretty late if you want to see wildlife such as eagle activity and black bears. We saw a lot of seagulls at Herring Cove. No bears or seals. We did spot a bald eagle perched in a tree as we were leaving. We stopped at the salmon ladder walkway. Would have loved to explore that further but we had no idea how long we were staying at that site. It would be helpful for the guides to give us an idea of how much time we have at each location so we can explore on our own for a few minutes. The Totem museum was the highlight of the day. If you're hoping to see wildlife I probably would not recommend this tour after September 5.

Daniel was very informative on the tour. He explained all about the wild life we saw and hoped to see. For the bear that was spotted he took our group on to the area that it was heading to in the hope of a closer encounter. He was very accommodating and dropped us off where we wanted to be rather than the meet place

    Great time!

We saw many. Shad was very knowledgeable since he was from Ketchikan. His helper was Jen. They made the adventure personal.

Daniel was a great Tour Guide

    Great Tour! Thank you Daniel

Daniel was great and knowledgeable! Your tour was informative and included multiple stops, seeing 3 bears at Herring Cove, stepped into the rain forest we didn't know existed in Alaska (Alaska has the 2nd largest Rainforest in the world behind the Amazon!!), saw a couple of Bald Eagle nests and a Bald Eagle sitting in a branch, a waterfall, the shoreline, the Salmon Ladder and Creek Street. Thank you for a great tour!!

Being in a small van, made the experience much more personal and enjoyable. Unfortunately, the weather was quite rainy and limited our ability to see some of the wildlife that we had hoped we would see. But. Daniel was very informative and did his best to make our day and experience in Ketchikan a great one.

    Fun Experience

Daniel was very informative and kept us entertained throughout our trip. The salmon were running, and we got to see bears!

    Wildlife tour in Ketchikan

    Joyce_S, Sep 2025
The van was very comfortable and Daniel was a get guide. While tours cannot guarantee wildlife can be seen we did see an eagle, salmon and a huge black bear fishing in a large creek. It was so exciting. Daniel had some Binoculars for us to use as well.

    We saw bears!

    Wilda_W, Sep 2025
I enjoyed Shad sharing his personal stories growing up in the area. Not sure all his jokes landed for me, but appreciate the opportunity to see black bears in the water.

    An authentic Alaskan adventure

    Ashish_G, Sep 2025
We were delighted to discover that Daniel was not just our guide but a genuine local from Ketchikan. That local insight turned our adventure into something truly extraordinary. Daniel was knowledgeable, friendly, and had an uncanny ability to spot wildlife birds flitting in their natural habitats and even a whale! We saw the whale’s tail slice through the water and watched in awe as it breached. The pace of the excursion was exciting but never rushed. Daniel balanced adventure with comfort, making us feel safe and cared for the entire time. He shared stories about the area, its wildlife, and the best hidden viewpoints that only someone from Ketchikan would know. This wasn’t just a tour it was the best experience we could have hoped for: high-energy, profoundly immersive, and deeply personal. If you’re looking for a local guide who truly understands the region and delivers a wildlife experience with heart and expertise, Daniel is the one.

    OK for the price

It was mostly roadside. Driver started 15 minutes late and tried to end early without taking us to the museum. We had to request that he take us there. He dropped us and we walked back to town. Hard to hear in the bus (kids were in back) and on land narration was random if you happened to be standing near him

    Great tour, small group

    Pamela_G, Sep 2025
Small van, great driver! Saw whales from shore, then saw bears and salmon swimming up stream. Tons of good information about Ketchikan and life there.

    Shad's the best

    Margaret_R, Sep 2025
Shad did a great job providing history of the local area & opportunities to see bear. We learned more about how the area developed and the native peoples.

    Book this tour!

Absolutely fantastic experience. Shad is a local who enjoys showing people the treasures of this island. He knows how to spot wildlife. We saw a bear mom and two cups feed on salmon. Incredible.

Great wildlife sightseeing trip when you only have 2 hrs

    LeAnn_B, Sep 2025
Daniel, who is a local, was prompt and communicative with meeting us. He was pleasant and personable. He took us to areas to see the salmon and bears. And explained things about the island. Perfect short sightseeing trip.

    Wonderful experience!

Daniel and Cassie were awesome. My group and I went with Daniel, he was provided a lot of background information as we drove through to the various spots and sprinkled in some humor along the way. We saw bears, salmon, eagles, totem poles and a waterfall. It was a great excursion and would recommend if you are not booking one with the cruise.

very informative! guide was very educated in facts and pointed out various treasures only AK has to offer!

Do yourself a favour and join this small group for the sights of beautiful Ketchikan.

    Marian_V, Aug 2025
Yes, we saw a black bear in the wild, a seal, salmon, deer, a waterfall, totem poles, and beautiful scenery in a small group. Thanks Cassie for a great experience- people, I strongly recommend this tour.

    NCL Family Cruise

We were expecting to see more wildlife. Driving in a residential area looking for bears was not acceptable. We stopped at the ladder for 5 minutes. Expected more time. The driver struggled with the temp inside the van. We were roasting and the poor people in the back seats couldn’t see anything! We’re was the river view were bears would possibly be feasting? Misleading advertising.
