Meet your pilot in Ketchikan and climb aboard your floatplane. During the flight, your pilot shares commentary via your headset, which also offers a musical soundtrack.
Ascend over Tongass Narrows, a body of water located between Ketchikan and Gravina Island, and fly past Ketchikan. Stare in wonder at the beauty of Tongass National Forest as you soar over Revillagigedo Island to Misty Fjords National Monument, about 40 miles (64 km) east of town.
Traveling through a low-hanging mist that gives the region its name, take in views of fjords, cliffs, and rock walls jutting straight out of the water. Waterfalls cascade down narrow granite passages, and dense forests of hemlock and spruce cover the vertical slopes.
Your pilot navigates over Rudyard Bay, giving you a fantastic vantage point of New Eddystone Rock, a remnant of early volcanic activity. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife like wolves, bears, deer, and eagles.

If you would like to sit next to the pilot put it down in your notes when booking . However, that restricts your view slightly if you want to get some good photos .
The bus driver was very entertaining and knowledgeable. The staff at the check in desk were so nice. The pilot was very knowledgeable and narrated the entire trip. The views were breathtaking and I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone again.

Can’t really give a rating as our float plane tour was canceled due to inclement weather. We felt communication could have been much better. We got conflicting automated messages before finally being told the tour had to be canceled. The weather cannot be helped but human communication can. The young woman who took us back to our ship was amazing. Very nice and gave us good information on what to do in Ketchikan. Also our money for the tour was promptly refunded.
We really enjoyed our flight and it was a beautiful day in Ketchikan. Transportation was smooth and we were picked up right at the port, it is a short 10-minute drive. The staff that greeted us on arrival were extremely friendly and helpful- very clean facility and they have some merch that you can purchase. As others have reported, the actual flight is about an hour and it was beautiful. The only thing that could use some attention is the “sound track” that they play during the flight. The pilot came on a couple of times to pint things out but it was minimal. Feel that is an area that could be improved as it feels very canned and impersonal- so just be aware of that- I would still highly recommend this flight!
We had never experienced a float plane before and the takeoff and landing were much smoother than expected. The flight through the Misty Fjords was great. The scenery was spectacular and our pilot, Jake, was fantastic. We contacted Taquan Air several times with questions and they were always quick to respond. We would highly recommend this experience.

This is our second floatplane trip with Taquan Air to see the national monument of glacier carved fjords. It's the best excursion out of Ketchikan and always a must for us. Our flight was fun and fabulous as always. It will always be our go to whenever we stop over at Ketchikan.

This floatplane tour was hands down the highlight of our Alaska trip! The scenery was drop-dead gorgeous from takeoff to touchdown, soaring right past 3,000-foot granite cliffs, glassy alpine lakes, and endless waterfalls. Our pilot was fantastic—warm, engaging, and full of great insights—and he kept the ride amazingly smooth the entire time. I was nervous about flying in a small plane, but the gentle takeoff and silky-soft water landing completely put me at ease. Every seat gets a full window view, making it an absolute must-do experience in Ketchikan!

Bought this trip as a surprise birthday present for my husband. He loved it. Our pilot Joe was great. He was very informative, especially the areas we were flying over, often pointing out areas of interest, wildlife to look out for and the history of the area too. Would definitely recommend
Very disappointed! This was to be the highlight of the Alaskan Cruise. At the time the excursion was to start it was cancelled. All other float plane excursion companies were operating. We were told in the Ketchikan Visitors Center this company was notorious for cancelling at the last minute. Would not recommend them!
Due to weather it was canceled and hoping to get full refund soon from viator..the vendor said they will refund
Alaska from the air is incredible! The scenery is breathtaking. So many sites can only be seen from the air! Do them ALL!
Had a lot of potential, but at the last minute it was canceled. it seemed like they could’ve just postponed the trip for a short drive. There were many many boats that did takeoff in land in the morning. I totally understand that at our exact time we were supposed to depart was not ideal weather
Im not sure why we were canceled as it was 60 degrees and sunny, and they said it was due to weather. We watched all planes go out all day
I don't want to comment on the actual tour as it wouldn't be fair but disappointed it was canceled during fantastic weather.
This was an excellent tour, we debated between going by boat or on a float plane. We are so glad we went with the plane. The views were amazing.
My pilot was awesome and the ride was not as bumpy as I thought a small plane would be-so smooth! And the views were remarkable and the knowledge shared was great!
