It was amazing! I am looking into a family membership to be able to take my kids and show them all the interesting things around the museum!

Museum

Monica_B, Jan 2026
Overall it was a nice visit. Basic museum quality. Not a lot of interactive stuff, mostly just viewing. Definitely one of the larger rock collections I've ever seen.

Sue is a must see!

Rhonda_L, Dec 2025
Great experience visiting the Field Museum with my husband and our tween daughters. Everything was easy and well organized. Our 11-year-old was especially fascinated by Sue the T. rex, which was a highlight of the visit. A fun, educational stop for families—highly recommend!

I opted for a guide but was not assigned to one so I definitely recommend asking for one first thing because there is a lot of information to take in. But still easy to navigate through without one & just using the map.

Good experience

Jamie_S, Oct 2025
The museum was a good experience. The bistro area is insane and the food is ridiculously over priced.

Great museum

Matthew_F, Oct 2025
Was a huge amazing museum . Seeing the Lions from The Ghost and the Darkness was GREAT ! Not know some of that story .

Definitely must do

Soumya_P, Sep 2025
Wonderful museum. You will need to stand in line to get voucher exchanged for the all access pass, which is on a tiny print out. You will need to keep that print out as they ask for order number on it at each point. The reptile exhibit is worth it but the other two, insects underground and after dinosaurs are not worth it unless you have a special interest in those topics and want to see dioramas. Note re 3D movie- you can get it on Field museum website separately in advance. Recommend the docent led free tours. Our docent loved the museum in all aspects and was extremely knowledgeable about other exhibits too. The Field bistro cafe is not fancy but decent family friendly meals. Very reasonably priced for Chicago.

Field trip

Large amount of items to look at took the free tour which was nice. If u have lunch there just know it is pricey

Very informative and a lot to see. Our tour guide was amazing and very knowledgeable. Especially loved that wheelchairs were available for those who are unable to walk long distances.

A must-see

Wonderful Museum, takes a long time to see everything. Map it out first, but it is a great experience.

Karma_P, Jun 2025
The museum is very big, would probably take most if the day to see everything. There are water bottle refill stations

Huge museum

Johnnie_C, May 2025
Huge. This museum is huge. Gorgeous building and the displays are beautiful. I was there for almost 4 hours and still hadn’t seen the entire museum. I’d definitely go back with my family.

Great rainy day activity!!

Wendy_W, Dec 2024
Easy access...avoided the huge line because it was raining and everyone needed an indoor activity. The museum is big enough that it didn't feel crowded once you got in. I definitely recommend purchasing beforehand!!

Field museum exhibits was amazing. We simple didn’t need to go through viator

Theresa_L, Sep 2024
I had an amazing experience at the museum, it was educational and enlightening on many levels. However I was a little disappointed in viator I had no idea we wasn’t going to have a tour guide to assist us. There was truly no reason to go through a third party to get in the museum. We paid an additional $35 for absolutely no reason.

Amazing Dinosaurs

Lisa_A, Jun 2024
We took the tour of the dinosaur exhibit. It was truly amazing! The tour guide John gave us a great insight into the dinosaur exhibit.

Good place for family

Sam_F, May 2024
The place is beautiful and well organized, making you see many places in the world, then animals section was great

Did you see the Dino’s?!?

Megan_L, Apr 2024
Definitely the dinosaurs were the most anticipated and enjoyable exhibit at the Field Museum. They’re everywhere & we loved it! We will be back as we weren’t able to visit every exhibit today. so much to see & learn about!

Loved the Nature walk area and the dinosaur exhibits. Watching the children’s expressions was fun to watch also being a grandparent.

Fun time with my husband

Laura_B, Mar 2024
We were visiting family in Michigan and flew out of Chicago. We needed something dun to do before our flight. I can't recommend the museum more.

Worth it

Phillip_A, Nov 2023
All access pass was definitely worth it. There were 2 exhibits not included in the general admissions ticket. Those exhibits alone took up most of the day.

Great day at the Field museum

Joseph_M, Aug 2023
We went to see the “The First Kings of Europe “ exhibit and enjoyed it very much but there is so much more to see. We saw “Sue” the T-Rex, the lions of Tsavo and the Egyptian tomb exhibit. There was way too much to see in a day and we definitely want to go back. It was a great day.

Great museum

Paul_B, Jul 2023
So much to see, great museum. You need a whole day here, don’t rush it. Get all access pass for sure

Pick up details - Viator...

Gary_T, Jun 2023
Pick up details - Viator agent overcharged us by $17 for admission. At checkin, retrieval of the vouchers was impossible. The link indicated “bad request”. After 10 minutes and 2 times though the line we finally got our correct passes.

Response from Host, Aug 2023

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. The All Access Pass is one of four ticket packages guests can select when purchasing tickets through Viator. Because the ticket is our all inclusive experience, it is higher priced than the general admission ticket. The All Access Pass is great way to see the Museum with over 40 million artifacts in the building, the pass allows you to see over 35 permanent halls, all limited engagement exhibitions as well as 3D theater entrance. We are sorry you had an unsatisfactory experience at check-in when selecting your movie choice and reviewing our limited engagement, special exhibition passes. We hope to see you again soon.

Lovely

Dr_L, Feb 2023
Although I’ve visited The Field Museum several times, it never gets old or boring. Sue is a must see, and there are many interactive displays for children of all ages. The Field, coupled with The Shedd makes for a perfect day.

Great Museum, but....

Patricia_G, May 2022
Excellent museum! Should offer a multi day ticket so you can break it up since it is a very large museum with lots to see. The only thing we didn't enjoy were the field trip of young kids. They should really separate those from days for the public, very loud with them in there and all the running around was a distraction. Be prepared to spend more than 6 hours there.

Put down the stupid video game and come learn something

Richard_H, Apr 2022
Able to research some pottery fragments we had found. The movie on Egypt was well done. The history of the Americas was also well done.

Book 2 days

Cassidy_C, Apr 2022
So much to see! I definitely recommend two days here if possible. Our youngest is 5, and he was extremely tired by 3pm (we entered at 9), so another day would have been great.

Very enlightening on many subjects!

Love the Egypt and medieval displays. We really enjoyed the movie about the Egyptian tombs. We learned many new hints about prehistoric life.

Everything was awesome! The kids had lots of fun! We loved Maximo! The mummies! The different mass extinction! A little bit of everything! Was just perfect! Thank you!
