Very informative yet fun tour through the city on a great boat! Tour guide was captivating and knowledgeable and she volunteered! Not even paid! Wouldn't accept a tip either!

Tour was everything that was advertised. The guide was EXTREMELY knowledgeable which added significance to the tour itself. Our 17 year old grandson thought it was terrific.

Michael the mapmaker was a fantastic docent for the tour, and we had a perfect summer day for this tour. He was full of historical tidbits and knowledge about the skyscrapers throughout downtown Chicago. I’ve been on this tour before, and Michael and the weather made it well worth repeating.

This was a great experience. The tour guide is a volunteer and they won't accept tips. Although - he was well worthy of a good tip!

Please choose the Chicago Architecture Centre First Lady for your river boat tour. The docents (Wayne!) are very knowledgeable, the boats are comfortable, and the amenities and accessibility are top notch.

The First Lady river cruise was a very informative 90 min dive into Chicago’s past and present, where the architectural wonders blend in with the city’s history. Our guide, Deborah, was extremely knowledgeable. Highly recommend the cruise.

We took this cruise with our two teenagers and really enjoyed everything we learned about the history and architecture of the city. It was great to do towards the beginning of our trip because the rest of the time we were walking around Chicago we could reference what we learned. The tour guide was amazing and soooo knowledgeable.

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about Chicago and the amazing architecture!
Arrive 30 minutes early to beat the crowds. Wear a hat and bring plenty of sunscreen. It really doesn’t matter which side you sit on the boat: great views either way.

for the price it is a steal. great experience, The narrator of the tour was exceptionally knowledgeable of not only the citys buildings and structures but also the history of the entire city dating back to when it was built.

This boat seats everyone on top so you have great views of the buildings they reference. Wear sun protection if the weather is warm! The tour was great and our guide Bill was so knowledgeable and fun. Lots of facts and insights, I learned so much. Would definitely recommend to others!!!

We have taken many architectural cruises along the Chicago River and Lake Michigan, but never have we learned so much in such an entertaining fashion. Our docent was extremely knowledgeable, witty, and engaging. Anyone can take you for a lovely, leisurely ride along the Chicago River. This cruise was so much more than that. I cannot recommend this experience highly enough.

The architectural tour is a must do when you visit Chicago. Spending 90 minutes in the sun on the Chicago River while learning a great deal about Chicago architecture, the history of Chicago and the river itself is the best. And the First Lady is the boat on which to do it.
Terra_W, Aug 2026
Not only is Chicago architecture amazing, but passing by the buildings and infrastructure lining the river is a beautiful introduction. This company is great! The speaker was a volunteer and she dropped history and other knowledge than just about the variety of building styles and timelines. I am still digesting days later. I cannot wait to visit again and give more time than a half day to this amazing place (I normally hate big cities).
Ambar_P, Aug 2026
Chicago's architecture tells a story of the city as it has evolved through the years. Very informative. This is a Tour not to be missed.
Lisa_S, Aug 2026
We know this tour provider is highly rated, but we traipsed through a downpour to be told the trip was cancelled due to weather conditions. While I will be getting my money back, you are told to show up no matter the weather, because there are no cancellations.
The provider will blame Viator for lack of communication, and vice versa, but notification would have been preferable.

Great corp event … great weather! Tom was incredible and very knowledgeable. Lower A/C cabin was nice to get to cool off and get a drink. Bathrooms were clean. Easy access on and off the boat dock. Nicely done First Lady!
Kimberley_Y, Jul 2026
The tour lead was awesome. I forget his name, but we went on this cruise on Friday at 4 p.m. (7/27). He was so knowledgeable - it was such a huge plus to the beautiful architecture and wonderful weather. We will recommend it to others!
Jake_S, Jul 2026
This is a must see experience even if you don't know or love architecture. It's an informative architecture tour, steeped in history, combined with breathtaking views of the marvels of man.
Steven_H, Jul 2026
Rainstorm forced us downstairs in the boat and the audio quality down there was extremely poor. We would like a refund. Four tickets at $57 each.
Diane_S, Jul 2026
The docent was extremely knowledgeable and also entertaining! Learned so much about the architecture of Chicago
Luna_C, Jul 2026
The architectectural tour was so interesting. It felt like I had a super pleasant ride on the river and I learned so much not just about architecture but also about the history of Chicago. The docent, Tamara, was incredible. I highly recommend this tour.
Dan_P, Jul 2026
Choose your weather day. We sat open deck for the tour. It was one of the best days of summer. Be sure to have sunglasses.
