This tour came highly recommended by friends and I was told it was a must do Chicago experience. I agree, it is well worth the time and expense. The team was highly professional and everything was well run. Our docent, Barry, was fun and highly knowledgeable. The Chicago architecture is stunning and varied, and seeing it from the river gives such a unique perspective.

This was a really interesting cruise/tour! You might be a little unsure because it's called the"architecture" cruise, but it was incredibly interesting, even if you're not into architecture! There was so much history and humor. We had a great time. Our tour guide, Bob, was really informative. He knew so much about the history of Chicago as well as the actual architecture.

Bob was an excellent tour guide! facts. He kept the tour fun and easy to follow, and his enthusiasm made the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend taking the architecture tour with first lady.

Amazing trip through the history of Chicago architecture and the river. Our guide, Phil, told amazing stories of buildings, builders, architects, and historical events. Truly a remarkable adventure through time. Great ship, staff, captains and crew. We all loved the trip. Thank you!

It is very difficult to hear the tour guide if you're sitting down below, as we had to do because it was raining. We booked over a week before because they were selling fast. We were not able to cancel.

Paul was excellent. It was a very historical view of the river architecture. (Note: If you have mobility issues be sure to check the boat has seating outside downstairs. Our boat did not and the stairs to top are not easy.)

This is a wonderful way to learn history of Chicago and the entire boat ride was an amazing experience.

I have done the architectural tour with First Lady multiple times. Every time I’ve learned something completely new. Our docent Russell was so great, so knowledgeable! I took my sister and brother-in-law who are visiting from Virginia, and they were blown away! There’s nothing like the architecture of the city of Chicago. I highly recommend.

Great view of the Chicago skyline from the river. Very knowledgeable tour guide who pointed out interesting information about iconic city buildings along the river. The boat was comfortable and drinks were readily available.

I booked a cruise for myself and 5 friends knowing about the nonrefundable policy. Sadly, our trip to Chicago got canceled due to the massive storms that day. The storms were severe and I can't imagine the boat would've safely left its dock, but I don't know. All I can really say is that I won't be booking ahead with them again.

Great tour guide, with lots of history knowledge. Highly recommend. Chicago has such a rich skyline, worth learning more about it.

Great your. The guide was so knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely recommend this your. I have taken other boat tours around the lake in Chicago and by far this was the beat

Wonderful trip. Great docent presentation. Comfortable chairs. Clean boat. Professional crew. Lecture left me wanting to learn more. Perhaps warn folks about the fact that the weather can change in a moment and to bring something warm to wear just in case. And a hat for the sun. Would take this tour or another version of it in a heartbeat.

While planning a fabulous vacation in the "Windy City," I bought three architectural cruise tickets for "the best tour" of Chicago for myself, my grown daughter and my professor brother. We boarded the boat today at 10 am with great anticipation and sat in the middle of the upper deck. The tour guide was a dear elderly man who was knowledgable, but the latter was lost on us since we could only hear approximately every tenth word. We gave the guide our full attention and strained to listen the whole time; however, the speaker's voice went something like this: "G'morning ... blah, blah, blah, mumble, mumble, mumble, wha, wha, wha .... The fire... mumble, mumble, mumble, woa, woa, woa.... This building is... blah de blah, blah de blah, blah...."
For the entire 90 minutes, in 85 degree heat and direct sunlight (until we went under shade), we were looking up at the impressive skyscrapers and other buildings without receiving pertinent information. The fact is, we could not hear about nor understand the significance of each structure; and it was incredibly frustrating. We remain shocked that a volunteer who is obviously committed and probably quite accomplished, did not have the right equipment to project or make his voice clear enough to be sufficiently/ properly heard. I am not personally criticizing him, as he is an older gentleman (which I respect and appreciate) but his voice was no where near that of the boat tour guides we heard when we were disembarking at 11:30 am.
My excitement at experiencing a GREAT architectural cruise tour was dashed, to say the least, and the $57 per ticket plus tax was, in no way, a fair cost for what we received.

Great outdoor experience on a beautiful Chicago day. The docent was very informative. Fun travel through the Chicago river to see buildings from more than a century ago contrast with modern skyscrapers. Would do this again for sure.

Liz the guide was amazing. Her knowledge of the history was incredible and her insights added such fun to the tour! The captain greeted everyone as they boarded and the entire staff were friendly and answered questions. A special shout out to Hailey who gave us great recommendations on where to sit!

We took the First Lady Architecture Tour on May 31, and it was one of the highlights of our visit.
Our volunteer guide was exceptional—extremely knowledgeable about the city's history, architecture, and urban development. What made the tour especially memorable was his presentation style. He blended deep knowledge with witty, insightful, and often sarcastic observations that kept everyone engaged and entertained throughout the tour. His humor added personality without taking away from the educational value, making the experience both informative and enjoyable.
A friend had recommended this tour to us, and it absolutely lived up to the recommendation. We learned a great deal, saw the city from a new perspective, and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in architecture, history, or simply experiencing the city through the eyes of a passionate and talented guide.

Awesome tour. Our guide, Deb, was amazing! Her knowledge of the city and its history was obvious, as well as her genuine love for Chicago. Learned so much and really enjoyed the tour. It was nice to look up and truly appreciate the architecture. The price for 90 minutes was fair. The boat has bathrooms and a bar. All staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend.
