Itinerary
Delivering a taste of Chicago’s renowned pizza legacy, you can expect to meet your local tour guide at a significant pizzeria in the downtown area. Start by hearing the history of Chicago deep dish while sampling a slice from one of the best purveyors of the style. Next, our bus will pick up the group and drive you through various neighborhoods to explore the local pizza scene. Your guide will share local insights into Chicago’s unique pizza-making culture and history. After visiting four pizzerias, you’ll head back to your original departure point in downtown Chicago stuffed full of pizza and stories. Just about everyone loves pizza, so you can always expect a diverse group of travelers and locals to share your pizza experience with.

The guide was very knowledgeable about the history of each location on the tour and the pizzas themselves. He also made the drive between each location interesting by telling jokes, pointing out different historical food locations on the way such as the location of where the brownie was invented

Absolutely loved our tour guide James! He was such a hilarious and extremely knowledgeable guide! My favorite pizza was the Polish pizza! It was my birthday on Valentine’s Day and he and the rest of our tour mates wished me happy birthday! Highly recommend if your in town, this tour gave us history about the city and the diverse food that makes Chicago the place to be!

Amazing tour of the traditional "Chicago" pizzas! The history of pizza along with different styles and tastes of pizzas made the afternoon so enjoyable! The owner of Chicago Pizza Tours, John, was our guide for the tour- and let me tell you- we've been on tours all over the US and internationally, and John was hands down one of the best! We're rather local to Chicago and loved learning about what we already though we were well versed in. Thank you, John for making this your craft!

Hands down the highlight of our trip. Jamie was a fantastic guide with a great love and knowledge of pizza! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Chicago. In addition to all the different styles of pizza, you are get a chance to visit different neighborhoods.

Fantastic guide! James was funny and knowledgeable and passionate about pizza…all huge green flags. He took us to places we hadn’t tried before. My boyfriend was very happy about this gift. Make sure you come on the tour with an empty stomach. James was an amazing tour guide. Always telling jokes & history about the city. If you are a new tracer in the city. James will let you know where to go.

Wonderful history of Chicago and Pizza! Really enjoyed the explanations and the pizza! Tried some things I may have never tried before and enjoyed it! 4 locations over 2.5 hours and you will not leave hungry! We were so full! Pace yourself!

Jamie was a great guide and made the tour fun and interesting, and all of the pizzas were great! My only issue is that the advertised itinerary on Viator is wrong. It states 6 stops, including Pequod’s, but it was only 4 (plenty), and Pequod’s was not included. It also stated coach transportation, but it was an actual school bus. Disappointing, but still a great tour that I highly recommend!

I had a group of 12 ranging from 19-82 years old to celebrate my husband’s 60th birthday. Everybody enjoyed it. We had a variety of more than enough pizza and James was entertaining and very informative. It was great to be transported around different areas of the city too.

Fun few hours trying different styles of pizza. Not the super famous very top places, but all well-regarded players in pizza world in Chicago. I didn't love them all, but that is what trying is about. Smooth and efficient operations, funny and polished guide. Way more samples than writeup implies given multiple at most locations. Worthwhile and fun way to do lunch.
