The tour guide, Avery, inserts a fair amount of trivia into the narration instead of sticking to the highlights.
He also exaggerated some stories. For example, he claims that Navy Pier was used as a jail, and that it was inhumane because the winters were so cold. In reality, the Pier had a jail only for one summer. His recounting of H.H. Holmes murder spree was full of debunked exaggerations, emphasizing the yellow journalism of the late 19th century rather than the historical facts we know today. I read online that the Upper Midwest has a strong tradition of generating tall tales, so perhaps the guide's narration introduces tourists to that? If so, perhaps he should announce that in advance.
He also drove off without me at one of the stops, later claiming that he was asked to move. Still he could have texted me; instead I had to call him.
I also found the use of my phone number to text me a request for a tip w/ his Venmo info unusual.

This tour hit the major landmarks in Chicago, but was way overpriced for only 2 hours. It does workout if you don’t want to uber to your destinations, or have only a short period of time in Chicago

Avery, was our tour guide. I am in my eighties and have both traveled and lived abroad. On a scale of 10 I would give Avery a strong 13. His grasp of Chicago history was impeccable. His professionalism coupled with personal skills was remarkable. A LOST ART TODAY IN OUR CULTURE. Dr. HB and CB

The small bus was ideal. Rick the tour guide was great. We took it on a Sunday in a couple things were closed so he took us out of the way to show us a few extra sites.

Our tour guide Alan was wonderful l! We had a great overview of the the city without being rushed. Alan also recommended a place for pizza after the tour and dropped us off at the restaurant so we didn't need to walk. Would highly recommend this tour and hopefully you'll be lucky to have Alan as your guide.

The Chicago Mini Bus Tour was excellent and the driver/guide Rick was so funny and nice. Rick gave us a lot of great recommendations and tips on visiting the city, as well as interesting historic background and fun facts! I highly recommend this tour if you want to see the city highlights in a comfortable bus and take great photos at the popular locations!

Rick was knowledgeable and a safe driver. A great combination! Punny as well. It was much better than a big bus tour.
Muriel_P, Jul 2026
The stories and language were quite macarbre and colorful, although the guide, Avery, had a sense of humor.

Whether you are in Chicago for one day, or for a week or more, this is the trip to take. Our tour guide, who says his name is Trevor, although that could be an alias, lead a fun filled adventure. We saw many historical sites, including the Rookery, the “Bean“, Buckingham Fountain, Soldiers Field, among others, and Trevor had many informative stories about the Windy City, both the good side and the dark side! Incredibly interesting. Trevor also pointed us in the right direction, in regards to other sites and transportation methods we were able to use around the city. It was a very fun time.

Cassandra_S, Jul 2026

Avery was a good tour guide.. funny and informative. The tour starts out well with stops at the lake front and The Bean. The rest of the tour focuses on architecture. I thought there were several more iconic Chicago sites that the tour would have covered.
Eleanor_M, Jul 2026

This was a great tour! Highly recommended for when the weather is lousy or if someone in your group has mobility issues. Avery was awesome! He was entertaining and informative. Some tours are dry and boring, but not this one. We could have happily driven around listening to him talk about Chicago all day. Thank you Avery!

This was a comfortable tour, which took us to many important sites. Appreciated tour guide Alan's enthusiasm, patience and knowledge.

The bus ride was ok. The federal building was closed. Due to traffic we missed a stop at a fountain resulting in walking back to it on our own. It felt we did not have enough time at the bean. The driver was nice.
James_J, Jun 2026
