Big Al should be everyone's intro to Boston and the Sons of Liberty

Terri_B, Apr 2026
I am now a history nerd! It came to life today as a group of six strangers from differnt cities all joined Big Al for the day- a 3-hr walk-about became 6 All fueled by amazing pace and chat about Paul Revere and the Sons of Liberty became a real life dive into what it might have been to live the real seeds of revolution. The taverns chosen were purposeful. And fun! The walk was great- a clear coverage of Boston proper! But that no one left promptly at the last stop, spoke volumes. We will always remember this day when a 3-hr tour became a day full of everything Boston!

History, drinks and laughs with Al

Louisa_F, Apr 2026
A friend and I (her from US, me from UK) decided to do this as a great way to discover some of Boston during our girls trip and we had a blast! We were joined by 3 others so we were a perfect size group. Our guide, Al - a true Bostonian - kept us entertained for the entire tour with history and anecdotes, including two excellent stops at pubs for drinks and appetisers. Even the rain didn't dampen our spirits! We were all getting on so well we stayed at our last stop for an additional two hours after the tour finished, Al included! Highly recommend if want an overview of some of Bostons most famous history with the added bonus of drinks too.

Big Al bomb diggity!

Excellent tour and our tour guide "Big Al" gets 5 stars on this one!

Kent_P, Nov 2025
I was in Boston on business and had an afternoon of free time so I chose to take The Boston Historic Taverns Tour with Tastings and Ferry. And what an excellent choice that was. "Big Al" is one of the best tour guides I've ever seen (I took the Boston Pizza Lovers tour with him earlier this year and he seems incredibly passionate about his work). He's incredibly friendly, funny and very knowledgeable about the history and the city of Boston in general. He told detailed, informative stories and answered multiple questions. Unfortunately we were unable to access the USS Constitution Museum due to the government shutdown; however, the Warren and Bell in Hand Taverns as well as the other sites that we were able to access were extremely interesting and well worth taking the tour.

History with comic relief.

Shannon_H, Nov 2025
This tour was very fun, informative, and filled with great stories (not all based in truth). There was beautiful walks through the streets of Charlestown and the north End. The guide was engaging and knowledgeable.

Bouncing around Boston with someone who's as crazy fun as we are!

If you get Big Al as your guy, you're in for a real treat. He certainly has a passion for history and is full of all kinds of facts. He had answers for all our questions, knew all the neat local places to go and shared a lot of information.

Big Al was a great tour guide. Funny and knowledgeable about the history of Boston. We had some beer and appetizers at 2 bars and Al got some oysters that we all took a toast with and sucked down. If you like a good beer or wine and love to meet new people and want to learn a little more about Boston, than I would say book this tour.

A fun way to experience some history

Cindy_B, Sep 2025
It’s a great walk (around 10,000 steps) and worth each step. Time spent on Freedom Trail! Raising a glass in a pub where Washington and other historic characters did the same. And the cannoli- oh my goodness. I save the best for last - Big Al - our guide. He is full of energy and great stories. Made sure the group moved at a comfortable pace. Loved it!

Fantastic experience with Big Al. Learned so much and laughed so much. Perfect blend of seeing a lot but relaxing with the stops at the Taverns

Big Al is great!

Tabitha_C, Jul 2025
This tour was exceptional!!! Big Al was entertaining and ensured everyone had a great time! We started off at the modern Pastry and took a ferry over to Charlestown and visited a bar there then walked back to the ferry, history along the way…stopped for a bathroom break then headed to the hand in bell tavern. The only thing I would have done differently with somehow take out some of the walking from Charlestown back to Little Italy, but perhaps we would’ve missed out on that hidden gem in Charlestown… everyone was super!

The perfect Boston afternoon!

Louise_T, Jul 2025
