We have used Viator before (in other countries even) and this tour was by far the worst. The tour description says "Savor artisan meats and cheeses at Boston’s oldest Italian salumeria". We each got a small chunk of provolone and a slice of prosciutto, and sat by the street outside of Paul Revere's house. Our tour guide gave no information about the store or the food; He did provide some info about Paul Revere but none of it had to do with food. We did have a slice of brick-oven pizza, but it was standing on the street outside Regina's again with little to no information about the establishment. We did NOT "Indulge in a classic Italian pastry paired with a refreshing beverage nor "discover a hidden bakery and taste freshly baked bread straight from the oven" We also did not "..step inside the historic Old North Church (entry included)" our tour guide pointed at the top of the church steeple from two blocks away and said "..there you've seen it". We did have some good clam chowder in Quincy Market and a good donut in Boston Public Market but those are not "hidden gems" of the North End. We consider ourselves foodies and our son was a history major in college. We received almost nothing interesting about food or history. We spent $225 for 3 people which was a huge waste of time and money.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us, Betty. It’s clear that you came in with well-founded expectations, especially having joined tours in other destinations, and we take that perspective seriously.
Our tours are carefully designed to highlight the character of the local food scene, combining well-known staples with neighborhood spots that reflect the area’s culinary identity. At times, adjustments may be made to the planned tastings or stops due to availability, timing, or operational considerations on the day of the tour. These decisions are made with the intention of keeping the experience running smoothly while still offering a well-rounded introduction to the neighborhood.
That said, your feedback regarding the overall balance of food, storytelling, and engagement is important. Many of our guests share that they enjoy both the variety of tastings and the context provided along the way, so hearing that this did not come through during your tour is something we will take into account as we continue refining the experience and guiding our teams.
We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, as it helps us ensure we remain consistent in delivering the experience guests expect. If you’re open to it, we would welcome the chance to have you join us again in the future so we can provide a visit that better reflects the standard we aim to deliver.

A delightful mix of Boston history, culture and cuisine! There was much to gain from the tour, whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned Boston traveler. Sean kept the attention of the casual listeners while also maintaining the interest of this old History teacher!

Greg_M, Nov 2025
Had half a lobster roll, half a tiramisu dessert, no popover, no slushy. Not a lot of food for the cost. Was ok, but have been on much better tours
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Thank you for taking the time to leave your thoughts about our North End tour, Greg. Your feedback helps us understand how the experience came across, especially since this route usually receives strong comments about the variety of tastings and the quality of the stops.
You mentioned that the portions felt limited. Our Local Manager looked into this, and she was able to note that the tour ran through all scheduled vendors, and our guide shared that guests said they were full at the end. Even with that, not everyone connects with a route in the same way, and we take this kind of feedback positively when looking at how to keep the experience consistent for every group.
That said, thank you again for sharing this feedback. It gives us insight that we can actively use, and we appreciate you taking the time to let us know how the tour felt from your perspective. If your travels bring you back to Boston or to any of the cities where we host tours, we would be glad to have you join us again and experience another neighborhood with us.
Anonymous, Nov 2025
Evan did his best to show us a good time. I have been on numerous food tours and, for the price, this tour was not worth the cost.
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. Evan is indeed dedicated to guiding guests through the North End, and it is encouraging to hear that he worked hard to make the experience enjoyable.
Our Boston route includes several tastings that guests often tell us they look forward to. These stops are selected because they reflect the area’s long-standing food traditions and the small local spots that define the neighborhood. Feedback from many guests highlights how much they value the mix of tastings and stories shared throughout the walk.
Still ,your comments are helpful as we continue reviewing how each part of the tour contributes to the overall experience. We want every guest to feel that the stops, the food, and the pacing come together well. If you ever decide to join us again in Boston or in any of our other cities, we would enjoy the chance to show you more of what guests often highlight as the strengths of our tours, from the neighborhood stories to the variety of tastings.
Marc_R, Nov 2025
Great experience overall. Excellent food tastings, local knowledge and fun stories from our guide. The description of food tastings was not totally accurate which was a bit misleading but still a great time.
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Thanks for your feedback, Marc. We’re really glad to hear you enjoyed the food, the local stories, and the energy your guide brought to the tour. We appreciate your note about the tasting descriptions and will use it to make our tour details clearer for future guests. It’s great to know that overall you had a fun experience, and we hope to see you on another tour soon!
Julie_H, Nov 2025

Katherine_C, Nov 2025
This was a fantastic tour! I loved learning more about Boston’s history, while also enjoying incredible food. We were really happy that we got to sample both seafood classics and some incredible Italian food. Our tour guide, Evan, was very knowledgeable both about the city’s history and why each stop on the tour was special and delicious. He was positive and energetic, which was really great since the day we chose for our tour ended up being a bit chilly and windy. This is one of the best ways to truly get to know a city, and we plan on doing more food tours when we travel in the future.
Response from Host, Nov 2025
We appreciate your thoughtful feedback! It’s always great hearing that guests enjoyed learning about the local food scene while tasting their way through the city. We’d love to have you join another Secret Food Tour across our 100+ locations worldwide.
Jeffery_Y, Nov 2025
We have participated in many food walking tours in our many travels. Some were great and others not so great. This was one of the worst. While our tour guide was adequate, we simply did not get what we paid for. The serving portions were insufficient and the tour was advertised as approximately 3.5 hours but barely lasted 2 hours. I expressed our discontent with Viator and asked for a partial refund for the reasons stated above and was told the tour operator declined the partial refund request. Will not use this tour operator in the future.
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Hi Jeffery, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We appreciate that you’ve experienced food tours in many destinations, and we’re disappointed to hear this one didn’t meet your expectations. Our North End Food Tour is designed to showcase Boston’s food scene through a series of tastings that highlight the neighborhood’s local favorites.
The portions are thoughtfully curated to allow guests to enjoy more stops comfortably while exploring the history and stories of the North End. Many guests share that they finish the tour pleasantly full and enjoy the mix of food and culture. The experience typically runs between 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on group pace and local conditions, which sometimes means a slightly shorter or longer experience.
Still, we’re saddened this didn’t align with what you expected, but we hope you’ll reconsider joining us again in the future, perhaps in one of our other cities, so you can see why so many of our guests continue to recommend our tours.
