Fantastic North End Food Tour

Kathy_D, Jun 2026
We had a late flight home from Boston on the last day of our vacation, so we decided to do a food tour. We met Chloe at the Boston Public Market, and got a little bit of a late start because we were missing two people. After multiple attempts to contact them, we struck out on the tour, and they caught up to us at our first stop. We made six stops, and had a wonderful variety of delicious local fare, including several delicious Italian treats. Chloe did a great job explaining the relevance of each food item (culturally) and sharing lots of interesting historical facts along the way. We really enjoyed it and would highly recommend this tour.

This is a very filling tour, however, there were a couple unexpected food changes than what was described in the overview Out guide, Jessica, was amazing, fun & very informative

Marginal tour - still a good time.

Aaron_P, May 2026
It was okay. We’ve done a dozen or so food tours around the world and this one was marginal at best. A 1/2 cup of mac and cheese, a slice of pizza, a slice of proschuitto with an ounce of provolone and 1/2 of a bobka. No drinks. No exciting places. 2 food halls. Ate in an alleyway. Didn’t feel like any places were unique or that I wouldn’t have found on my own. Guide was funny but not well versed in American history. Would definitely do a different tour next time - maybe even the one our guide recommended! Oh well. Still had a good time - just way overpriced for what it was.

Response from Host, May 2026

Thank you for joining us and for taking the time to share your thoughts. We appreciate hearing from guests who have experienced food tours around the world, as that perspective is always valuable. Our tours are thoughtfully curated to showcase the local food scene and introduce guests to places, flavors, and stories that help bring each neighborhood to life. We understand that every guest arrives with different expectations and preferences, especially those who have enjoyed many food tours in different destinations. While the experience may not have fully aligned with what you were hoping for, we're glad to hear you still had a good time and enjoyed your guide’s sense of humor along the way. We appreciate your feedback and will be sure it is shared with our team as we continually review the guest experience. We would love the opportunity to welcome you again on another tour in the future and hope you’ll join us for a different experience next time around.

Fun day

Karen_W, May 2026
We have taken food tours around, and this was among the best. Amparo mixed in history with the food and was accommodating. The food was terrific and plentiful; we didn’t need to eat the rest of the day! Disappointed that lobster rolls weren’t on the menu, but that probably would have pushed the cost up even higher - and this was the most expensive food tour we have done. Despite that, I still recommend.

Response from Host, May 2026

Reading this felt like hearing from someone after a really good day out. We’re pleased the experience became such a positive part of your time in the city. Thank you from Secret Food Tours!

Delicious and insightful!

Thomas_M, May 2026
An excellent walking food and history tour of the North End neighborhood of Boston, with enough food to make a satisfying lunch and plenty of walking to burn off the extra calories! Chloe, our tour guide, was friendly, knowledgeable, adaptable, and responsive to our questions and interests. She made us love Boston and its food even more!

Response from Host, May 2026

Your feedback is greatly appreciated! Knowing your experience left such a positive impression means a great deal to everyone involved. Secret Food Tours sends our appreciation.

Not what I expected

Cheri_R, May 2026
AK our guide was great. However, it was not as I expected. We signed up for a 3 hour and it only lasted 2. We only got to sit down in one restaurant. The others it was brought outside to us to eat. I'm glad I didn't buy the extra drink package because the only drink we got was a bottle of water. Not sure how you would even be able to drink an alcoholic drink on this tour. We had a cup of clam chowder, a mini donut, a mini cannoli, a slice of cheese pizza and an arancini. Not sure this was worth $248 for a couple. Somewhat disappointed.

Response from Host, May 2026

Thank you for joining us and for taking the time to share your thoughts, Cheri. Our tours are thoughtfully curated to showcase the local food scene and introduce guests to a variety of flavors, stories, and neighborhood highlights in a way that reflects the character of the area. The experience is designed around discovering local favorites while moving through the neighborhood, which naturally creates a different pace and format than a traditional sit down dining experience. Many guests appreciate the opportunity to experience several stops and the local insight shared throughout the tour, often mentioning that the combination of food, storytelling, and neighborhood exploration creates an experience that goes beyond the tastings themselves. We understand though that expectations can vary, especially when it comes to timing and overall value. Still, we appreciate your feedback and your perspective. Thank you again for joining us, and we hope to welcome you back on another tour in the future for a different experience with us.

Diane_S, May 2026
It was full of history, good food and laughter. We walked a lot, so be prepared. Sean was very knowledgeable and made the tour fun.

Not worth it

Caroline_C, May 2026
We took the 2 hrs express tour and we were done in 1 hour. Walk through tours of Quincy and Boston Market were not done and would have been nice to do to feel the local flavor of Boston. Instead we were left standing outside to receive our food. As compared to Chinatown food tour, this tour was substandard. A-K seemed to be in a hurry and disappeared almost immediately after the 1 hrs tour ended. Would not recommend.

Response from Host, May 2026

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, Caroline. Our tours are thoughtfully curated to highlight the local food scene while also giving guests the opportunity to experience the character and atmosphere of the neighborhood. Tour duration can sometimes vary slightly depending on group size, walking pace, and the flow of conversations throughout the experience, as every group dynamic is different. Guests have often shared positive feedback about enjoying both the food and the personal insights from our guides, so we are saddened to hear this experience did not meet your expectations, especially in comparison to another tour you joined. We also understand how important it is for guests to feel fully engaged from start to finish. We do appreciate you joining us in Boston and hope you may consider giving another of our tours a try in the future for a different experience.

Great time!

AK was a phenomenal tour...

Ashley_V, Apr 2026
AK was a phenomenal tour guide. She was extremely knowledgeable about the Boston area and the foods we were trying. She was friendly and made the tour informative and fun. As for the tour itself, I do not think the food that we got was worth the money we spent on the tour. $75 was a bit steep for the amount of food you actually get.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you for writing this for us. It means a lot to know the tour felt balanced and gave you a strong overall positive experience. We hope to welcome you again on another Secret Food Tours!

North Side Food and Historical Tour

Angie_B, Apr 2026
Great walk through North end downtown. Elizabeth is a great guide. We learn so much about the historic restaurants we toured. The food was exceptional. I would do it again tomorrow 😊

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Your kind words really mean a lot to our team. We love hearing when guests leave with both great memories and a deeper connection to the local food scene. We hope to welcome you again through Secret Food Tours!

Fun wander in Boston with Sean D

Joan_L, Apr 2026
We had a great day with Sean Delaney. He kept a good pace and energy level and connected with each tour participant. The bites were tasty, mixed with loads of local history and storytelling. We got lots of ideas and suggestions for the rest of our trip. I would highly recommend this tour and Sean for your visit to Boston.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Tour guide had a couple...

Pat_H, Apr 2026
Tour guide had a couple of interesting history points, but overall short on history. Food choices were not the best. We heard about the excellent bakeries in the North End and past one, but was given a mediocre donut at Public Market.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Pat. It’s great to hear that the shared insights stood out during your time with us. Our guides work to weave in context and stories that help bring each neighborhood to life, while keeping the experience balanced with the food journey itself. Our tours are carefully curated to highlight a range of local flavors and give guests a well-rounded taste of the area. Guests have often shared how much they enjoy the variety and the opportunity to discover places they might not have found on their own. That said, we understand that preferences can vary, and your feedback is valuable as we continue refining the experience to better meet expectations. We appreciate you taking the time to share this and hope you’ll consider joining us again in the future for another opportunity to explore a different side of our tours.

Waste of Time

Betty_N, Apr 2026
We have used Viator before (in other countries even) and this tour was by far the worst. The tour description says "Savor artisan meats and cheeses at Boston’s oldest Italian salumeria". We each got a small chunk of provolone and a slice of prosciutto, and sat by the street outside of Paul Revere's house. Our tour guide gave no information about the store or the food; He did provide some info about Paul Revere but none of it had to do with food. We did have a slice of brick-oven pizza, but it was standing on the street outside Regina's again with little to no information about the establishment. We did NOT "Indulge in a classic Italian pastry paired with a refreshing beverage nor "discover a hidden bakery and taste freshly baked bread straight from the oven" We also did not "..step inside the historic Old North Church (entry included)" our tour guide pointed at the top of the church steeple from two blocks away and said "..there you've seen it". We did have some good clam chowder in Quincy Market and a good donut in Boston Public Market but those are not "hidden gems" of the North End. We consider ourselves foodies and our son was a history major in college. We received almost nothing interesting about food or history. We spent $225 for 3 people which was a huge waste of time and money.

Response from Host, Apr 2026

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us, Betty. It’s clear that you came in with well-founded expectations, especially having joined tours in other destinations, and we take that perspective seriously. Our tours are carefully designed to highlight the character of the local food scene, combining well-known staples with neighborhood spots that reflect the area’s culinary identity. At times, adjustments may be made to the planned tastings or stops due to availability, timing, or operational considerations on the day of the tour. These decisions are made with the intention of keeping the experience running smoothly while still offering a well-rounded introduction to the neighborhood. That said, your feedback regarding the overall balance of food, storytelling, and engagement is important. Many of our guests share that they enjoy both the variety of tastings and the context provided along the way, so hearing that this did not come through during your tour is something we will take into account as we continue refining the experience and guiding our teams. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention, as it helps us ensure we remain consistent in delivering the experience guests expect. If you’re open to it, we would welcome the chance to have you join us again in the future so we can provide a visit that better reflects the standard we aim to deliver.
