What are people saying about Maui

100% Worth It!!!
The Calypso is a beautiful ship with friendly, helpful, and knowledgable crew. We thoroughly enjoyed our snorkel experience. There was even a little "snorkel class" that the captain offered to guests if you wanted more information, which was definitely helpful. One of the crew members, Eddie, even gave us wonderful recommendations for our stay in beautiful Maui (Lava Fields and La Perouse Bay). We were also able to have a whale-watching tour, in which the crew gave interesting facts to provide some insight. Advice: get there EXTRA early! There are a lot of boats at that dock and parking can get a little stressful. Regardless, this experience was 10/10.

Such a fun and memorable experience🐋🤙
We went out on the Lahaina tour and had an awesome time with Joel and Reece—they were knowledgeable, entertaining, and clearly love what they do. We definitely saw whales (multiple times!) and even got to hear them through the onboard hydrophone, which was such a cool, unforgettable moment. It was the perfect mix of fun and learning, and we’d absolutely give this five stars and do it again. One small tip for future guests: they recommend arriving 20 minutes before boarding, but if you want the best seats and to keep your group together, I’d suggest getting there closer to an hour early. Boarding numbers are given out first-come, first-served at check-in, and the boat does fill up. We arrived when they suggested and ended up toward the back of the boarding order, which meant our group got split up and a couple of us didn’t have the most comfortable seating for the two-hour tour. Not a dealbreaker at all—still an amazing experience—but definitely something to know so you can make the most of it! Overall, an incredible way to see (and hear!) whales in Maui. Highly recommend!

Perfect for Family and Friends
We had a fantastic time. We arrived late season and the captain and crew knew exactly what to do and where to go to get us up close and personal with a momma wale and a baby. We have been on three tours before this in various “HOT SPOTS” around the world and we never saw a thing. This trip we saw several wales breaching in the background while a momma and baby entertained us for a full two hours.

Each year, from November through May, thousands of migrating humpback whales journey from chilly Alaska to the warm waters of Maui to breed and give birth. Visitors can get a close-up view of the majestic marine mammals by booking a Maui whale watching boat tour. As you watch whales play, breach, and interact in their natural environment, your tour guide provides insights into their behavior and biology. Some tours use an underwater hydrophone to amplify whale song. Whale watching in Maui puts you closer to these enigmatic animals, whether you take a tour by catamaran or by raft.
