Great tour with great Mt. Fuji Views
Tsubasa is an exceptional guide and we had a wonderful time enjoying Mt. Fuji in the bus on the way to and then in the gardens surrounding our lunch restaurant—which Tsubasa scheduled early so we could enjoy this beautiful place without the crowds. But be aware that afternoon wait lines at the Hakone ropeway (gondola) are excruciating, both for the up-and down rides. After waiting in line for more than 40 minutes we had to give up on the ride because we would not have made it back in time.

The worst tour guide ever! Horrible don’t ever take this tour
Our experience with this tour—and especially with our guide, Maz—was extremely disappointing and frustrating from start to finish. From the very first interaction, Maz was rude and unprofessional. Despite our tour being clearly booked for 8:30 AM, which is exactly when we met him, he immediately insisted that we would need to pay extra because traffic would delay our return. This was never mentioned beforehand and felt completely inappropriate and unjustified. He also repeatedly pressured us to meet at 5:30 AM instead, clearly for his own convenience, without any regard for our schedule or preferences. What made matters worse was his complete lack of engagement and knowledge throughout the tour. He provided little to no explanation about the destinations, offered no meaningful insights, and showed no effort to enhance the experience in any way. We felt like we were simply being driven around without any guidance or value. Ultimately, the situation became so uncomfortable that we chose to cut the tour short just to be done with it. That alone speaks volumes about how poor the experience was. This was, without question, the worst tour guide experience we have ever had. Rude, unprofessional, and lacking even basic knowledge or courtesy. We strongly urge Viator to take this feedback seriously and address it—no customer should have to endure such a disappointing experience.

Excellent Day Tour and Guide
Had a great time!!! Mai, our tour guide was awesome. Her English was excellent and she did a great job of explaining the sites and meeting locations. The shrines and temples were very interesting and lunch was very good. The highlights for me were the Sky Tree Tower and cruise.

Must-do sumo experience in Tokyo!
Super fun sumo experience in Tokyo!! It’s basically impossible to see a real sumo tournament unless you go during the season (and even then, it can be difficult) but no matter— because this experience was fun, educational, and entertaining. (Be forewarned, your group will be screaming YOISHO, GANBARE, and DAME the rest of the trip- lol). We loved getting to see our friend volunteer to fight one of the wrestlers and the beer/snack ordering system was easy and made for a reallly fun afternoon in Tokyo.

Equal parts traditional and futuristic, Japan is relatively small in size but big on experiences. Beyond the ever-popular, sprawling cities—like Tokyo, where Mt. Fuji may be seen looming behind the skyscrapers, and Kyoto, a culture-rich city of wooden buildings, geisha, and temples—Japan offers forest-covered mountains, hot springs, world-class art, and more. Guides can lead you through winding urban backstreets to sample local food and drink, shepherd you along ancient pilgrim trails between villages and shrines, or cater to other interests. Japan welcomes all with a peppy irasshaimase and a courteous bow.
