Great day trip experience! From the fifth station to the wonderful lunch and the beautiful scenery on the gondola and pirate ship. This was truly one of the best excursions I have been on and our guide Happy made the trip even better with all of her amazing knowledge and wonderful personal stories. Worth every penny!

Make your own way to the centrally located meeting point in Tokyo’s Shinjuku district. Settle into your comfortable coach and make use of the free Wi-Fi during the drive to Mt. Fuji's 5th Station—if the 5th Station is inaccessible due to road or weather conditions, you’ll visit the highest station possible.

Next, explore the Owaku-dani valley volcanic area on Mt. Hakone, which is characterized by sulfuric vapors and hot springs. Your guide willl fill you in on the details about this unique landscape before you board the Hakone Ropeway for an exciting ride from Owakudani to Togendai.

Finallly, round out your day with a relaxing cruise on Lake Ashi and (if it is a clear day) soak up the views of Mt. Fuji from the ship deck. You can either return to Tokyo by coach or opt to save time by taking the bullet train.

This tour will depart regardless of weather or traffic conditions, unless you are notified otherwise by the local operator. Viator and your local tour operator will not be responsible for itinerary changes due to unforeseen circumstances
As it is stipulated by the law of Japan, please wear your seat belt on the tour bus.
Please be noted that you cannot change the scheduled return location after the tour.
In case of traffic congestion or any other uncontrollable reasons, may lead to changes on tour schedule or time shorten in each sightseeing spots, please be noted in advance.
In case of bad weather, there is a chance that Mount Fuji cannot be seen. For this reason we will not cancel the tour or make any refund.
When there are only small group of participants, instead of departing with big bus, small-size van may be used. Please note that regardless of the method returning to Tokyo, all participants will be departing by same vehicle.
Due to bad weather or traffic congestion the road to Mt. Fuji 5th Station may not be able to pass through, the tour schedule will change to visit "Fujisan World Heritage Center" or sightseeing at Fuji 1st to 4th Station.
In case you miss your Bullet Train after disembarking at Odawara Station due to a delay, no refund will be made. Please ride on the next train in the Non-reserved section. If you plan to take Bullet Train after the tour, please make sure to choose Bullet Train departing from Odawara Station.
In case the pirate ship is being cancelled due to some circumstances, you will be redirected for sightseeing at Hakone Machi.
The tour guide will not board on the Bullet Train from Odawara to Tokyo due to operation reason. The tour guide will notify those who are returning by Bullet Train how to get back to hotel from Tokyo station before boarding on the train.
Please wear shoes that enable walking smoothly and easily during the tour.

In case the Hakone Ropeway and Hakone Pirate Ship is unable to operate due to some circumstances, the tour will be guided to one of the following alternative destinations. Hakone Komagatake Ropeway, Hakone Lake Ashi Boat Cruise, Lake Kawaguchi Cruise on Lake Kawaguchi, Mt. Fuji Panoramic Ropeway, Mishima Skywalk, Odawara Castle, Hakone Venetian Glass Museum, Hakone-en Aquarium, Narukawa Art Museum, Hakone Checkpoint, Hakone Shrine, etc. (The tour will not be canceled and refunds will not be issued for this reason.)
Depending on weather conditions (such as high humidity, heavy rain, fog), Mt. Fuji may not be visible.
Please note that no refunds will be issued for claims regarding the weather or the change of schedule applied to the tour by the tour guide or any of the staff.
You can decide to get off the bus at Hakone Yumoto Station or Odawara Station at the end of the tour, please let us know in advance. Also, this won't influence the cost of this product, which will remain identical to the main option "Return by motorcoach".
Children up to 5 years old may join free of charge, but will not be provided with bus seats or lunch. If bus seats or lunch is required, please make a booking under the child rate.
In case of severe weather or traffic congestion and the bus unable to pass through the road towards Mt. Fuji 5th Station, the tour will visit Oshino Hakkai, Fujisan World Heritage Center, Lake Kawaguchi Oishi Park or Lake Yamanakako Hana no Miyako Park. Please note that an alternative itinerary may also be omitted depending on road condition.
The tour will arrive back at Shinjuku around 19:30.Depending on the traffic condition,it may get later.
If you choose the option without lunch, we recommend that you prepare lunch before your departure as lunch places may not be available.
On the bullet train, non-reserved seat ticket is provided. From Odawara to Tokyo, there are 2 trains per hour in average.

Packed itinerary, well led by guide who ensured all information was provided and added a few bonus activities ( simple origami). We were lucky and it was a sunny day with blue skies so the shy Mount Fuji could be seen. Would recommend this trip and would definitely take bullet train to return back to Tokyo.

Save your Money! Not worth it

Avoid! This was a 12 hour day where we spent just 30minutes at station 5 on My Fuji and just saw clouds (I know they can’t control the weather, but you find out on the tour the mountain is only visible 80 days a year) we then spent longer at lunch which was 45minutes at a random hotel - no views or anything special. We had a 25minute doorway journey and a 25minutes pirate boat ride which was supposedly the “highlight” of the day. When I thought the highlight was supposed to be the mountain. We could have stopped in the morning and had photos of the part of the mountain as it was visible partially on the ride up but were given no opportunity to do this. Our highlight was the bullet train home!! A long and boring day with 10hours either sat on a bus or in a queue waiting for something. We were herded around like sheep, our guide even managed to lose half the group at one point and didn’t bother to go and find them. Save your money and book a private tour where you can control what you else’s and for how long. Boring boring boring!

Given all the variables like the weather and everything this went as well as it could. We went to Mount Fuji and went up it a bit and looked around but the clouds was in the way. On the way down to the lunch we actually saw the mountain which was nice. We went on a Gondola and a ship as well. I did the return on the bullet train which was nice

Excellent. For my particular version of this tour (stop at Odawara), Yuka (tour leader/manager) and Yoshi (tour driver/transportation expert) managed the tour with superior craft and ability. Both used verbal and/or visual cues to communicate clearly when and where you needed to be after each experience, as well as how long each experience would last to keep up with the busy schedule. Overall, this tour is packed with curated options, and particularly well suited for those who need an overview of Mount Fuji and Hakone.

The experiences were great and our tour guide was even better! We got to do everything on the itinerary even though hitting 3+ hours of traffic. Good way to get out of the city. However, even without traffic there is about 5 hours of driving for about 2 hours of activities.

Mt. Fuji with Yuji!

Wonderful tour today with the great HIS team of guide, Yuji, and bus driver, Kassa. The tour was given in English and the pace of activities was very good. (There are a great many stairs, but elevators are usually available, too. I do wish I’d thought to request a seat at the front of the bus as I get car-sick and the seats were assigned ahead. Be sure to communicate any needs!) We met up at the LOVE statue then headed to Mt. Fuji. Yuji-San had lots of information and excellent stories. He even sang the lyrics of a children’s folk song about Mt. Fuji that plays when the bus rolls over certain cuts in the roadway! The trip to the mountains was beautiful, and, even with the top covered in clouds, Mt. Fuji was breathtaking. We were so glad to have been able to see it in person. Of course there are gift shops at every stop, but no pressure to buy anything. We opted for the wonderful buffet lunch option. Definitely worth the price. There were traditional Japanese dishes as well as lots of options including vegetarian options, pizza, and a great many desserts. We next set off for Hanoke, an interesting town in the caldera of a volcano. We took a cable car up the mountains and saw sulfur mining. There was a small geological museum, too, that charged a separate, minimal entry fee if you wished to walk through. We then took another “rope bridge” down to a beautiful lake where a ferry converted to look like a pirate ship took us across. (Really needs crew/pirates for photo ops and fun! But that’s an issue for that operator.) It was a very relaxing ride across the lake. Afterwards, we opted for the bullet train back to Tokyo. This tour gave us the chance to see so many things that we may not have been able to fit in otherwise. The countryside is beautiful. Our driver, Kassa, was very skilled and so friendly! Yuji-San made sure we all knew what we were doing, where we were going, and kept the schedule running smoothly. He was open to going off script and answering questions, too. We felt it was a great value for a full-day of sight-seeing. Highly recommended!

Great sight seeing tour to Mt Fuji.

Tour guide, Ai and bus driver made a great duo. Ai spoke English and was funny and easy to understand. I really enjoyed the Geo Cable Car portion of the tour. Mt. Fuji is very cloudy during our July trip.

We went on an incredibly foggy day and had little time to explore each area. I would not go on this tour again.

A waste of a day

A complete waste of a day. We left the starting point 15 minutes late and it went down from there. The guide, Yuki was fine, although she had to count the number of travelers 4 times before she got it right. After a 2 hour 15 minute drive to Mt. Fuji we spent exactly 15 minutes on the mountain. Then another hour and a half to Hakone, where we spent 20 minutes on the mountain. We took the ropeway to the boat and waited 35 minutes to get on a 25 minute boat ride. Our giude gave us no information about Hakone and very little about the Lake. The boat ride was lovely but a small consolation in an overall waste of time.

They don’t have refunds in case of bad weather. We couldn't see Fudziyama because rainy and overcast weather brought heavy clouds and high humidity, which completely obscure the mountain. However tour operator still carried a tour and brought us to the sightseeing (even they knew we would not see anything).

Very long day, spent mostly on a bus, very underwhelming best bit was the cable car. Not enough time spent on mt fuji. Left to own devices how to get back after the tour via bullet train. I would say some older client's may find it difficult to navigate their way back.

Exceptionally disappointing

The whole tour should have been cancelled as the weather said there would be a typhoon. However it wasn’t cancelled and nothing that was advertised as the tour took place. I understand not being able to see Mt Fuji, however we wasted hours stopping at 2 boring stops and walking through torrential rain. Our guides and bus driver were lovely and did their best. But it was an extreme waste of a day and money. I have used Viator many times before and they have been great. This however was not!

My day trip to Mt. Fuji and Hakone was an unforgettable experience and one of the highlights of my time in Japan. From start to finish, the tour was exceptionally well organized, allowing us to fully enjoy the beauty and uniqueness of each destination without ever feeling rushed. The views throughout the day were absolutely breathtaking. Seeing Mt. Fuji in person was truly remarkable, and every stop provided incredible photo opportunities and stunning scenery. Fantastic weather and Guide. Learned a bit of history on the past and present Emperors and History of Tokyo, whilst on the coach to Mt. Fuji. Because of an accident the tour was a bit rushed and we missed the Cable Ride, but I appreciated the Guides making us aware of this in advance and their efforts to get us around as quickly as possible.
