Kazuko was an amazing guide with a deep first hand connection to the Hiroshima bombing. Obviously, that portion of the experience was moving and somber, but it was also somewhat uplifting with a spirit of peace. The Iwajima portion of the tour was phenomenally beautiful and our guide really enriched it greatly. Overall, fantastic experience.

Our guide was "Happy", she communicated very well with us and met us at the Hiroshima Station. We told her "No Castles" and that we wanted to focus on the Atomic Bomb Memorial area. It was another very hot day In Japan 90+ degrees, so we slowed down the pace of our tour. We toured the museum and bomb site. Very sobering and emotional. Happy got us back to the Hiroshima Station and we got on the railroad car back to the Cruise Terminal. Overall another successful tour

I had a most memorable tour of Hiroshima with Kazuko. She was from the region and was such a treasure trove of information. I was transported and understood really well the history of the city and its development through Kazuko's eyes. Kazuko was so personable and friendly and was a great friend to me. I will forever remember her and her the wonderful experience that i had with her.

This turned out to be a real highlight of our time in Japan, and made for a very memorable experience.
Our tour guide for the day was Gajender, a wonderful Indian chap with the most incredible command of English and Japanese.
He was there early to meet us at Hiroshima train station, and tailored the day perfectly to fit with the time we had available.
Thankfully we are relatively fit and we were able to keep up with the fast pace and Gajender's high energy, to ensure we had the best experience and saw everything possible.
It was cram packed with great information and we was so lucky to have a guide with so much local, historical and research knowledge.
Miyajima was wonderful and Hiroshima was very emotional.
Make sure to take umbrellas. The heavy rain we had, seemed fitting.
This tour comes highly recommended, and as it is private, accommodations can be made where possible.
At the day's end, it felt like we had made a really good friend.

What a surreal experience this was. Our guide was outstanding and truly went above and beyond to make it a memorable day for us. Visiting Hiroshima was a genuine bucket-list experience. Being there in person makes you realize the true scale of the events that took place. What we read in history books as children or watch in documentaries can never compare to standing at the Peace Memorial and experiencing it firsthand.
The city carries a deep and painful history, and there is certainly much that world leaders can learn from its past. At the same time, Hiroshima is a remarkable example of resilience—rising from the ashes to become the vibrant and thriving city it is today.
Miyajima was equally beautiful, with the deer freely roaming around and the stunning scenery all around. Our guide’s knowledge, insights, and understanding of the area made the experience even more special.
We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Japan. It was an unforgettable experience from start to finish.

After our cruise stops were changed due to a typhoon, we found ourselves needing to plan what to do in Hiroshima. This tour was PERFECT! It hits the highlights of the city and still shows you so much more than I even realized was there. If you happen to get so lucky to have Minori be your tour guide, YOU ARE IN FOR A TREAT!! She is the kindest and most thorough tour guide who spent the entire day being flexible and understanding when we had some of our group go back to the boat unexpectedly. She handled all the conversations in Japanese and even asked for permissions for us to skip lines and have extra room. She took us to the most AMAZING lunch place which was a local spot with DELICIOUS food!! The entire group agreed this was the best meal then entire 2 week trip. Minori was an excellent tour guide; but even more than that, she made us feel like her own family. Our day in Hiroshima was exceptional because of her. HIGHLY recommend!! And if you can request her, you are in for a REMARKABLE day. Hands down!!

Kazuko Mensing was a very informative and attentive guide. She answered all the questions and even shared her personal family insights on the area. Hiroshima is a very complicated place for an American to tour and she and the tour made it less so. Would definitely recommend visiting just for the history. The island was also cool.

Great tour, spent over 2 hours at the Atomic Bomb Museum and park, Harry took us to a great Ramen lunch and then another 3 hours at Miyajima Island to experience Itsukushima Shrine, both tour were amazing and so was our guide Harry

Took a day trip to Hiroshima and was relatively short on time, but John did a great job filling the time i had with great insight and information. He is a true historical, if you’re looking for a way to to see things with no real context, or you find the historical talk to be boring, this isn’t a tour for you.My day started in a local coffee shop with john giving me the background on the events surrounding and leading up to the bomb. He’s brilliant, incredible recall and details of even the smallest intricacies. John’s wife and mother in law were both survivors of the bombing, so do do this tour, with a historical woven into the history itself was s a once in a lifetime treat. Highly recommend if you’re interested in my context than just sight seeing

She helped to buy souvenirs in very nice stores and not the usual ones.
She explained about the island history.

Our guide, Senae, was informative, as well as personable, and seemed more like a friend than a guide. We spent a half day with her at Miyajima Island, which allowed plenty of time to enjoy the beautiful views of the torii gate "floating" on the water. We also explored the Itsukushima Shrine and Daisho-in Temple, plus sampled some traditional snacks. Senae met us at our hotel, which was convenient and hassle free, and accompanied us on the subway and ferry . Senae shared interesting information about Miyajima iIsland, and she answered our questions about Japanese culture. Senae also took some wonderful photos of us throughout our tour. She provided tips on the food and shops and even showed me how to fold a paper crane (origami). Senae exceeded our expectations and made this day special for us.

"Lucky" was the nickname of our guide because her Japanese name means "lucky child." Lucky took care of us, escorting us on a train, onto a ferry, and later on a tram ride. It was nice traveling with regular Japanese people just living their daily lives. Lucky showed us there was so much more to Miyajima and the glorious vermillion Torii gate than we would have expected or would have experienced without her guidance. She also successfully directed us to the places of importance around the Hiroshima Peace Park and Museum. She helped us order our lunch in a tiny authentic Japanese eatery where we might have been the only Westerners there. Lucky has been a guide for about a year and is continuing to work on her English. She is kind and courteous and will endeavor to make your trip as enjoyable as possible.

The most important thing about this tour is to have Akie as your tour guide. She is the perfect person to lead you through the beauty of Miyajima and the tragic past turned hopeful future surrounding the city's past with the bomb.
She is incredibly knowledgeable, fun, funny, and honest. Akie's English is excellent as she helps you to learn more about the Japanese language and culture. She took us to a local Okonomiyaki spot, educating us about the dish and the differences from region to region.
The dedication to peace and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons is an important theme for the tourand goal for the city.

An amazing day that started at the beautiful Shukkeien gardens. Our guide met us at the Airbnb and we walked there. From there we went to the Miyajima island to view the o-torri Monument. Then we did a walking tour around the A-dome ending at the museum. Our guide Kazuko was incredible. She gave us a lot of information about all the monuments and special places and what each one meant. Walking around alone, we would have missed 80%. It was great using all public transit and walking. Just make sure to get your bags stored for the day before the tour. My 80 year old parents and my 13 and 15 year old kids loved the day as well!

We had a truly amazing tour of Miyajima and Hiroshima. Kozuko met us at the Hiroshima Train Station, and we hit the ground running. I had pictured Miyajima as a "quick stop" to snap a photo of the infamous floating tori gate, but there was so much more to the island. Beautiful temples, amazing food stands/restaurants, tame and friendly deer, and opportunities to hike for gorgeous views. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We then went to Hiroshima, which was a sobering and emotional experience...one that I would highly recommend. We saw the Peace Park, Ground Zero, the Victims Memorial and the Museum. Kozuko's mother was a victim of the A-Bomb, which brought a sobering and personal feel to the experience. Kozuko was an amazing guide, and truly passionate about her work.

My fiance and I spent a full day exploring Hiroshima with our guide, Reika, and it was truly exceptional! The experience felt intimate and personal, shaped by her deep roots in the region and the stories she shared along the way. Her perspective really brought a level of meaning that went far beyond what a typical tour would offer.
We started at Itsukushima Shrine (at high tide!) on Miyajima Island, a perfect choice that helped us stay ahead of the weather and crowds. By the afternoon, we had taken in some of the most beautiful sights and returned to the city for lunch (okonomiyaki at one of Reika’s recommended restaurants), which was delicious! The day was then shifted to a more reflective tone as we explored the history and impact of the atomic bombing through various historical sites.
What stood out most was how Reika wove her own family history into the experience. It added a very human element to the tour, making everything feel more memorable. We realized at the end of the day that we had taken almost 20,000 steps, but it honestly didn’t feel like it, as we were so enamored by all the sights!

Where to begin?! This was the best day ever and our guide made it happen. Kazuko is a retired school teacher who made learning fun. We used every transportation known (boat, bus, car and train) and were always on time. She made sure we had great pics and took many of us for memories. She had a great sense of humor. It was clear she loves her country and sharing it. We would request her for all our excursions if possible!!
