This is the best way to make sure you get a ticket to the Ghibli Museum! Our tour gave us so much time in the museum and to spend too much at the gift shop! Don't miss our on the Architectural Museum portion at the beginning. I'm a fan of history and loved seeing how houses and buildings in certain era looked. The whole experience made for an incredible day!

Such a magical experience inside. You're not allowed to take photos inside the building. Only on the outside. There is also a really cute 15 min film included with the admission. Will definitely go again.

This was a fun day. Our tour guide gave information to the planes we visited & he was funny. The lunch was good. We really enjoyed the open air museum and Ghibli. The only suggestion I would give is to spend more time at the Open Air Museum. Thanks for a great day.

Great tour with perfect balance

Prathmesh_S, Oct 2025
The tour was wonderful- fro mother Buffet at this beautiful property, to the Open Air Musuem to finally Studio Ghibli musuem. 100% worth it since it takes away the stress from getting these elusive tickets.

The tour is very interesting, good food, nice Architectural museum, and Ghibli museum is incredible.

Amazing experience

Kulsum_Y, Sep 2025
The whole appreciation tour provided a context on Hayao Miyazaki’s thinking and imagination. I loved it as I got to understand how the amazing Studio Ghibli movies were conceptualised and made. A fantastic experience. Marie was very helpful, kind and funny. The luxurious Gajoen hotel where we stopped for lunch was another experience by itself. This tour was fantastic.

A rather long day

The Ghibli museum is magical and deserves to be a tour in its own right. The outdoor architectural museum was interesting but I would rather visit it separately. Buffet lunch was fine, lots of variety. Put together it was a very long day and should start earlier.

Wonderful experience!

All stops on the itinerary were wonderful, wish we had just a little more time at the architecture museum, but obviously the Ghibli Museum is the star of the show. Lunch was also great in a beautiful hotel. Our guide Joy was great and very informative.

Museum good ,guide not

Very informative and enjoyable tour. Noriko was a fantastic guide - very personable and engaging. The museum is whimsical and charming.

Full day tour including Studio Ghibli

Irene_C, Aug 2025
It’s a good tour well worth it. The buffet lunch was lovely and the setting was exceptional. We would have liked more time at the Edo Museum as it was great. The Studio Ghibli museum was also good however we thought our guide stole some of its magic by telling us so much about it before we arrived.

A really great, longish day - the teacups are adorable, the lunch delicious, the architectural tour excellent and Gibli — Magic. Our guide, Shi is fantastic and radiates great dad energy for a busload of Totoro & Spirited Away fans.

We had a wonderful time with our guide Shin! He provided us clear timelines and information about the various activities. Shin was knowledgeable and made this experience memorable for our family. Many thanks!

Loved the Ghibli Tour!

Laura_C, Aug 2025
This tour is fantastic. Of course, we really only wanted to go to the Ghibli Museum, but the other stops were really good too. The lunch was at a very fancy hotel. It was buffet and it was delicious. So many great choices. The stop at the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Museum was really interesting. I'd like to visit it again when we have more time and it's not so hot out. And, obviously, the Ghibli Museum was amazing! The tour guide gave us information and tips that we would not have known (like the Ghibli-blee!). You walk around the museum on your own and it is very whimsical. I highly recommend this tour! You do have to get to get back to your hotel on your own, but you are dropped off at Shinjuku Station and can get to most places from there. Our tour guide was Michico. She was very knowledgeable and interesting.

Tour of the lost time

Franco_P, Aug 2025
The tour lasts from 10am to 7pm to visit basically only two location, Edo architectural museum and the Ghibli museum,. Unfortunately, after 30 from the departure, you are brought to a Hotel for lunch and you lose two hiours. Edo architectural museum with its rebuilt local house is an old and sad place. The only highlight is Ghibli. We do not recommend this tour, too long with two much time lost. Buy straight the tickets for Ghibli.

Response from Host, Aug 2025

Beautiful museum, disorganized tour

Todd_K, Jul 2025
The text I received the day before my tour gave me the wrong meeting point which caused us a lot of stress and we had to join the tour late.

Convenient & Fun Tour

Kaitlin_L, Jul 2025
This tour was great! The guide was a very enthusiastic Ghibli fan and kept us entertained during the bus rides. The buffet lunch was delicious, and the architecture museum was interesting, but the highlight was the Ghibli Museum of course. It was so nice to get tickets this way and not have to worry about transportation there and back. Recommended for all Ghibli fans (especially since there is an exclusive tea cup!).

Great Tour

Christine_B, Jun 2025
This was a great tour! They took care of everything so the only thing I had to do was enjoy it. The hotel where we had lunch was beautiful and had lots of food options. The bus was comfortable and our tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. The ceramic cups they gave us are beautiful. The Ghibli museum was amazing. We had almost 2.5 hours which was plenty of time to see it all. I highly recommend this tour especially since getting tickets to this museum on your own is very difficult.

I loved it and I don’t even like tours

deanna_K, Jun 2025
I usually don’t like tours but this was unexpectedly great. Our guide, Michiko, was so friendly and had lots of interesting information to share about Miyazaki, the museum, and Japan in general. We loved the architectural tour which included buildings from the edo period and a yellow train car that inspired animation in Spirited Away. The lunch was also in a surprisingly swanky hotel and the food was really good. Overall perfect day.

Check in was smooth, English level of all staffs are great. Plenty of food choices in the buffet in the hotel with free iced tea, hot tea and coffee. Unfortunately I felt there were far many people joined the tour midway.

Ghibli Tour

Danny_D, May 2025
We were interested in visiting the Studio Ghibli and hence booked this tour to guarantee access as public tickets are difficult to purchase. We were pleasantly surprised with the first visit to Hotel Gajoen for lunch which is a landmark in Tokyo. Lunch was fantastic. The visit to the Architectual park was great as well. Very peaceful and awesome to see old Japanese houses and buildings. Studio Ghibli was as expected. Must see for Ghibli fans. The small film you get to see in the theatre is great. Note, no English on signs or anywhere. Cannot use phone for google translate as can be interpreted as taking photos. Movie was also in Japanese with no subtitles. Nevertheless great and many people.

Absolutely Incredible!

Joseph_S, Apr 2025
Our guide was awesome, we basically got off our flight and did this trip and it was great. Super informative and lovely. Will remember it for a long time

Take the worry out of getting there on your own - for a true Ghibli fan

Verge, Apr 2025
Highly recommend for any Studio Ghibli fan. The lunch and architecture museum prior was really good and certainly added to the experience and understanding of what influenced Ghibli.

Great quality tour. We had a wonderful time. The staff were great, helpful and friendly. The buffet was wonderful, too.

A must for Studio Ghibli fans

Madina_S, Mar 2025
Getting tickets to the museum can be challenging so I booked this and am very glad I did. It includes lunch (huge, delicious selection at a buffet in a gorgeous event venue/hotel. Food is western style, deserts are delicious also). Then, in includes a visit to an open air architecture museum that preserves historical architecture, that Miyazaki often visited and got inspiration for some of the beautiful, detailed scenery in his films, especially “Spirited Away”, one of my favorites. Then a visit to the Ghibli Museum. Photography is not allowed inside, understandably. But I wish I could have taken pictures to show my Ghibli fan friends back home, how incredible this museum is! You will feel like you are seeing the creative process of Ghibli Studios and Miyazaki himself. It’s also so inspiring for any artists, with even displays showing painstaking research they did into exact colors (of specific flowers, for example) paint, animation (the historical way it was produced), historical events depicted, etc. This is a look into the entire creative process and it’s so incredible for a Ghibli fan to see. The short Ghibli Studios film (only available to see at the museum) was so sweet! We also had a wonderful, friendly, informative, English-speaking tour guide, Aki. This tour is very well organized and SO FUN and I highly recommend it. There were many solo people (all fellow fans to chat with) so if your travel partners aren’t into Ghibli, go by yourself.

A must for every Ghibli fan

Gavin_D, Mar 2025
Firstly, the meeting place information on Viator is very misleading. It just says 'Keio Plaza Hotel', but it's actually the JTB office in the 3rd floor lobby of the hotel. This lack of information meant I missed the departure and I joined the tour an hour late after getting a JR train to the first meeting place. The tour itself is wonderful and a must for every Ghibli fan. The museum itself is great and takes around 90 minutes to walk around. I could have done with a bit more time at the Open Air Architectural Museum, but that's a minor complaint. The guide was excellent and the lunch at the first stop is very good too, so this was one of my favourite things I did in Japan.

Well organised and professional. I was travelling with my 12yr old daughter and this tour was part of a holiday that was a family gift, she thoroughly enjoyed the whole day including the other tours included in the whole day.

The outdoor architect...

Patrick_H, Feb 2025
The outdoor architect museum was better than I anticipated. I thought it would be ok, but it turned out to be really neat.

Beautiful and safe experience

Angharad_H, Feb 2025
Beautiful and safe experience with Take and JAL. Really enjoyed our lunch, the architecture and ghibli museums. Tip: the meeting point is upstairs in Keio hotel (this confused us on the day). Thank you.
