Natalie was an amazing tour guide! She was super informative, kept everything moving, and the whole group engaged. The group size was good with only 8 people. Natalie also was great at accommodating any allergies or other concerns.

Mario showed us around the Shinsekai area & we tried fabulous food and drinks that we would not have experienced without him. He made it so much fun. Best trip to book whilst in Osaka.

We really enjoyed thus tour as a family of 5. Our guide, Mio, was absolutely amazing and made this tour a highlight of our 3-week stay in Japan. We had great food, drinks, and laughs with Mio. She really knows her stuff when it comes to food, and her passion for Osaka and its food scene really comes through! Our favourites were the fried egg, gyoza, and beef soup! Cross your fingers you get Mio for your tour :)

This tour is a great way to taste some amazing food and learn about the history as well. Brian, our guide, was very knowledgeable about both the food and drinks we sampled as well as general information on other topics we were interested in. The group size is perfect as not too big so we got to meet some other great Travellers.

Overall this is a great experience. The restaurants we visited were delicious and the people were friendly.

What an amazing night! Got to try so many types of food and they were all delicious!
I happened to be running late to the tour but the guide was so thoughtful and helped me make up the first food tasting I missed.
Overall great experience. Highly recommend!

Great food tour with Paul, we enjoyed trying all the dishes and went to some great places. It was a good size group and Paul was very informative and entertaining! Thank you!

Highly recommend!!
Our tour guide Mio was great. She kept everyone engaged and kept things fun all throughout the tour. My wife and I had an amazing time and Mio was the best tour guide we’ve had so far. She is very attentive, detailed, and so kind. Thank you for the fun tour!!

Our food tour with Taka was fantastic! The food and drinks were delicious and the whole tour was so well paced, making each stop an interesting and yummy adventure. Taka shared stories and information about himself and life in Japan, and we felt lucky to have him as a guide. We’ve done food tours in many cities around the world, and this one was the best!!

The tour was excellent! Mari did a great job explaining everything and had lots of knowledge about Japanese culture.
KYLE_S, May 2026
Great food tour. We travel a lot and do food tours in every city we visit and Paul our guide, was the best we ever had. Paul was knowledgeable about the food, the local area, was very engaging, had great side stories and made the tour very fun! Would highly recommend this tour.

James was amazing. His intimate knowledge of Japan and Japanese culture is first class. How he corralled our small group from restaurant to restaurant was terrific. He even changed course during the tour because he wanted us to sample something different. He paid for extra drinks and we settled up at the end. A wonderful evening in a part of Osaka we would not have got to. You must do this tour.

Great food tour with a knowledgeable local guide! Our family had a great time eating and drinking various things in a range of establishments, most of which we would never visit on our own. The first two places had Japanese only limited menus. We tried everything and found it hard to decide what we liked best as everything was a delicious delight. Our host/guide was friendly and informative and skillfully led us through every menu item we were served. It was the best part of our stay in Osaka. Don’t miss out!

Thoroughly enjoyed the small group experience sampling Osaka food and drinks in the Shinsekai market. Our group of 4 travelers from the USA joined a few others from Scotland, England and Italy to make a group of 10. Meeting arrangements were clear and interactive via WhatsApp. Our host Hikaru (I sure hope I spelled that right) managed gathering us from the meeting spot and herding us deftly through the market for a 3 hour food extravaganza. He clearly explained all of our food and drink choices as we progressed, providing history, background and entertainment. I tried Shochu, Sake, Beer and Whiskey. We sampled so many different things from noodles, ramen, octopus takoyaki, etc. It was overwhelming and delicious! By the end, we were all fast friends, talking in Scottish accents after having spent a fun night together.

Fun experience. Food is mediocre as you might expect from stalls in a busy market. We went back on our own and found better food. Guide was sweet, but has only lived in Japan a short time and wasn’t that knowledgable. They run these tours every 10 minutes all night long, so almost everyone in the market is on a tour. Overall it was a good experience, but just doesn’t feel authentic in any way.
Demi_M, May 2026
It was a good food tour. I just wish we had been told a bit more about the history of the areas. The food was alright.
Alicia_S, May 2026
Super fun. Food was really good and the tour guide explained everything we were eating and gave some history of the market we were in.

Our family had a great evening led by Sara. A great variety of delicious foods and drinks. It’s too bad some of the food choices can’t be modified for people with allergies and sensitivities. We ate at many places we would not have been comfortable going alone, so having a guide was amazing.
Aoife_A, May 2026
Taka was such a friendly and engaging guide, he really made the experience for us! We learnt lots about all the different dishes and the food was incredible, not one dish we didn't enjoy! Would highly recommend this tour while you're in Osaka.

An awesome experience, Nick was a great guide who shared so much local knowledge.
The variety of food was great, so much food with a few drinks thrown in

Bernie was a great host and introduced us to great spots and yummy food. It’s amazing sharing a table with people from all over the world and having good conversations, bites, laughs and drinks. Would highly recommend, kanpai!

This food tour covered the authentic restaurant and bar scene in Osaka. We went to places loved by locals and the menu selections were delicious! Knox was a wonderful guide and his passion for life in Osaka was infectious. This is a tour we will remember for a long time.
Anna_T, May 2026
The choice of places to eat was really good and Sara was a nice and energetic host, so we enjoyed the tour a lot (and went to the same places the next day just to try some of the things like gyoza again, it was a-ma-zing). There was a really fun Australian guy in our group that made the evening even better, cheers to you, mate, if you're reading it! With love, a couple of weird Russians.

The food tour is a great way to get an introduction to Osaka's food precinct. Guiding you through the Japanese food culture, and a bit of local history. Yuichy, is a great guide giving a laid back and fun vibe to the tour while keeping us on track for our food itinerary. It was a great laugh, awesome food and the group were a team quite quickly which made it a great experience of our holiday.
Eve_F, May 2026
A great insight into Japanese food. The guide was amazing and made the tour lots of fun. The group of fellow travellers also made the evening very enjoyable too.
Matej_B, May 2026
We booked this tour based on the excellent reviews, so our expectations were quite high. Unfortunately, our experience fell well below that.
The tour itself is decently structured and takes you to a few interesting spots, but the food was not particularly memorable or exceptional. We also ended the tour still somewhat hungry, which was surprising given how many reviews mention being very full.
The biggest issue, however, was the guide. From the beginning, the interaction felt off, but it became increasingly uncomfortable as the tour progressed. When we asked simple questions about the food or what was coming next, we often received dismissive responses like “trust me” or “you should chill,” rather than any meaningful explanation. At times, it felt like questions were not welcome at all.
This is especially disappointing on a food tour, where you expect to learn about the dishes and local culture. Instead, the lack of engagement and unfriendly attitude significantly impacted the overall experience.
Overall, while the concept of the tour has potential, our experience did not come close to matching the high ratings.

Nick is accommodating to the max, and for someone who grew up in the U.S., understands the needs of tourists’ is A MUST, and oh he speaks fluently and relates very well to the Japanese culture. Thank you Nick for a well deserved, and delivered knowledge of Osaka history from food, culture, common correct way of saying the language to the locals. The smart balls are a treat, it was entertaining to know “ what a fraction of skill “ is needed and what joy it brings! Okini and kudos for a job well done!
