It pays to have skip the line tickets especially during the hot summers here. Waiting in line outside is no picnic! I’ve always had good luck with these tickets! The museum is expansive and a must see if you are in Rome!

Booked through Viator site. I was contacted by someone about a meeting spot different than on the website. I did get lost on my way there, was contacted again by someone who sent me to a ticket booth. When I arrived there (three minutes ahead of our scheduled tour), they said they didn't have my reservation. I showed them the WhatsApp message, and they said some people use their address, which I thought was weird. They gave me tickets and led us to a gate telling us we were late, we had to hurry. We got to the gate, they told us we were late but let us in. That is when I realized something was wrong. The tickets were for an entry time 30 minutes earlier than my tour, which explains why they told me I was late. I arrived inside the Vatican, but my "guide" was still at the waiting spot. He told me I was in the wrong spot. He said wait there, but he didn't come. We decided to walk through it on our own at that point. He called me again, I told him we started, he said he would meet us, but he again did not show. We finished the tour on our own.

You order the reservation, and head to the pick up store to get the actual ticket. The process is pretty smooth, the guy will show you how to get to the dedicated entrance for the skip the line entrance.

It's a fantastic experience, I would recommend getting the beat the que tickets, it saved us hours of standing around. Expect the tour to take 3 to 4 hrs. It's well worth it.

Poor experience with Vatican tickets

Bought some tickets for the Vatican as they had sold out. Paid over £200. You don’t get your tickets you are directed to tour company. At the tour company they also didn’t have my tickets and the fixer came in and offered to upgrade to an earlier visit. We took this and did get in when I looked at the price of the tour it was €20 per person. Also, there are a lot of tour operators right next to the Vatican which we could’ve got tickets easily on the day. They are also advertised to skip the queue, but you do join a queue. I would advise anybody to book early or to get a tour ticket while you get there. I would not recommend this service at all.

Dear customer, you have to wait in line for 3-4 hours for tickets,but we sell skip the line tickets. You will definitely have to pay something extra for the Skip the Line ticket. Our office staff has shown you how to enter.

A skip the line ticket for the Vatican is non-negotiable. There is really no other way. We were able to enter at our schedule time with no issues, with the general line benign hundreds of people long, in the hot sun. We were able to locate the meeting point, secure our tickets, and the man who issued our tickets walked us to the Vatican entrance and told us exactly how to enter and what to expect. It was very easy and I highly recommend this. The Vatican museum is vast and extensive. We did it in four hours and did not stop often. There is just so much to look at. It was extremely busy as this is the year of jubilee, the new pope, and tourist season. However, this is a must see and I highly recommend this ticket booking!
