The Vatican Museums or the Basilica may decide to close these sites on short notice due to official events or religious proceedings. In the event of any unexpected developments, we are unable to foresee or control these closures in advance. However, your ticket will still grant you access to the Vatican Museums.
Please note: Michelangelo’s “The Last Judgment” on the altar wall of the Sistine Chapel is scheduled for an extraordinary maintenance and conservation intervention starting in January 2026, with scaffolding covering the wall for several months. Although the chapel remains open to visitors, the scaffolding will partially obscure the fresco during this period.

Overwhelming but interesting and crowded.

Was a lot to see and a bit overwhelming with the crowds. Had a private tour which was expensive, but worth skipping the long lines to get in. The statutes, paintings, mosaics were massive. To think of how long it took Micheal DeAngelo to make the creations is mind blowing. Lots of history to research and learn.

Nice private tour with excellent guide

Very nice tour and I would recommend. Our guide was a former professor of architecture and very informative. In a 3 hour tour you obviously cannot stop to talk about everything. She did a good job of showing us the most significant ones and explaining others as we walked by. St Peters Basilica had some renovation work going on during our visit so some things we could not see. Nothing the tour guide can do about that.

Fred gave us a wonderful audio tour of the Vatican museum; explanation of the Sistine Chapel with time to view on our own; and then audio tour of St Peter's Basilica. We skipped the line as indicated and Eternal Rome Tours made it so easy. It was worth every euro. So happy I did this as we had teenagers of various ages and this walking tour was enough to do without waiting in line.
