This was not the ideal way to see the Colloseum. The tour started out with 1 hour of our time standing in the first hallway of the Colloseum and we didn't even get to see any of the interesting parts. After an hour of a speech from the guide, we finally got to go upstairs to see the interesting stuff and we only got to spend 10 minutes up there. Then when the tour was scheduled to be 2-2.5 hours long. After 2:45 the guide was still walking us around in the Roman forum when that was supposed to be our free time to explore. The tour was way too boring and way too long winded.

it was terrible. The tour guide was late and then a total jerk once he arrived. All we got was entrance to the Colosseum no audio and no other instructions for the other two parts of the Tour.

Don’t do it. This was a rip off. The app didn’t work inside the Colosseum. Nobody met us at the gate. Not sure how they can call this a tour- this is a ticket reseller and that’s it.

Our host waits at the designated meeting point near the Arch of Constantine—not at the Colosseum gate—and the host’s number, our WhatsApp support and Viator messaging are provided for assistance. The audio guide is the official Colosseum Authority app, so its technical performance is outside our control. The Viator price also includes platform commission, booking operations, customer support and host assistance—not only the ticket’s face value.

We chose audio guide as it was going to be hot and we could move fast through the area but we also didn’t learn much. Couldn’t download the audio guide for the longest time as it’s a crowded place and internet speed was pitiful.

Our guide met us in a very central location to give us our tickets and talk to us about the 3 sites to tour. He was very helpful and available throughout our tour if needed. We did the audio tour guide which we downloaded to our phones and listed to with our own AirPods.
Fantastic experience!!!!
(It should be noted, for this particular tour agency, they really prefer to communicate through WhatsApp.)

Porto (Peter) was a wonderful guide! He was a driver AND guide as he taught us a lot about what we were seeing and experiencing. Definitely recommend this tour if you only have a short time in Rome. We enjoyed the air conditioned car on a hot summer day too!

The colluseum is magnificent, however You'd be as well just booking ordinary tickets, the app is free to download anyway, you can download it before you go. Save the added expense for gelato.

Great experience overall. It’s self guided so you can move at your own pace. I strongly recommend wearing comfortable shoes, bring water, and a hair clip to put your hair up if needed. We just went in July so it was extremely hot.

The collesium is fantastic and a must visit for anyone visiting Rome. Unfortunately the audio did not work when we booked this tour. I woukd recommend booking a tour guide to avoid this same problem .

For all 4 of us the audio didn’t work at all inside! We try to text the host day before for information but he only replied 10 minutes before our time to Colosseum.

6 of us booked a transport from cruise port to Rome 90 min drive where we were to meet another Viator guide for Colosseum tour. Driver/guide Unaware of road closures in Rome and dropped us too far away from colosseum - we were told we could find our own way or join the rest of the walking tour for an additional 40 euros a person. We ended up taking the subway in Rome on our own but arrived too late for our other Viator self guided tour - lost $320. Request for refund rejected. Had to buy new entry tickets for all 6 of us which was an additional 108 euros. Kind of a tough luck situation and attitude. Very nerve racking being in a foreign country and being dumped off to find our own way.
We did take the bus back to the cruise port. Fortunately no issue on way home.
We’ve had great luck on other tours. This was very surprising to us. Disappointing.

The self guided app was fine, the order was alittle confusing and the motion activated part wasn’t great given the service in the coliseum, our guide never showed up to help us get into the right line for security but we didn’t need him and figured it out on our own fine

Worst tour experience we have had. Text telling us to download some app came right before the tour, after we had left the wi-fi connection at our hotel. We had no cell connection and could not download it. We didn’t even get a map from the tour company. DO NOT BOTHER USING THIS COMPANIES TOUR. Waste of money. They gave us nothing but basic entry tickets.

So bad and very disappointing experience
on this application and this travel agency provides, The travel agency provides a dishonesty travel products description to attract travelers to buy their product. they are putted the wrong description to make up their product and notified customer last minute as a host self tour guide, When I faced the online audio service issue the travel agency wasn’t tried to fix the problem, he was using bad attitude yell me and cut my call , no looking help me to fix the problem . I will never use this application and this travel agency , please everyone avoid it

The hour long audio tour was the perfect amount of time at the Colosseum on a hot summer day for our family. We downloaded the audio tour app before arriving at the Colosseum. However, the process to receive our tickets was not great. Information was delivered both through Viator app and on What’s App so keeping it all straight was difficult. Once we found the “meeting point” the tour host was impossible to find amongst the thousands of people also at the meeting point. He had no sign or identifying clothing. Finding the tour host took way too long and created undue stress. It would have been a perfect experience had we received our tickets the day before along with the instructions for the audio app.

We're sorry that collecting your tickets caused unnecessary stress. We typically send tickets through Viator 3–7 days before the tour date whenever they are available. For last-minute bookings, however, tickets are generated closer to the visit time, and we send them as soon as they become available. It's possible there was some misunderstanding regarding when your tickets would be delivered.
We also appreciate your comments about the meeting point. Our host is there to assist travelers who need help before entry, but we understand that the area can become extremely crowded, making it more difficult to locate them. Limited bathrooms and once you go by them, you cant go back. Everything is one way and there are no bathrooms outside the colesseum. Plan accordingly.

This was a self guided audio tour, the app was terrible, did not locate us correctly, we spent the entire time wondering around on our own not listening. Our previous booking was cancelled at the last minute by Viatour for no reason, when we finally heard from the tour operator they said there contract had expired forcing us to scramble to find an alternative. Explain to me why they accepted the booking if there contract was expired!! Not acceptable!!

Receiving tickets before hand was fine. The self guided tour app is not good. The speaker is drab and boring and hard to follow.
If you choose this, I recommend downloading Rick Steves European Tours app and listen to his self guided tour once inside
