The tour guide never showed up. And I got a email from them telling me that they were not going to show up, the day of. I had no Wi-Fi signal at the Colosseum so I was unable to open my email and retrieve any messages and download the tickets to the Colosseum. So therefore, we did not, and could not go into the Colosseum because we did not have any tickets because I could not download them because I had no Wi-Fi signal. Unbelievable

Got to the meeting point on time, however no sign of any guide even after ringing. After a long and hot day we decided to just go in ourselves without the tour and were underwhelmed- perhaps if the guide had contacted us it would have been better.

No Show Tour Guide

Nobody showed up. I contacted Viator and they want more information. I sent a picture of me standing in the appropriate place. We were there for 4 start times and not 1 tour showed for “Roots of Rome”. I am trying to get a refund. Viator has not contacted me after I reached out to them. Also, when I was on chat with them they offered me a 1 time $5 refundable charge to speak to a specialist. I assumed this was a phone fee transfer from the states and that I would be getting help from a Viator team member. I agreed to it. I got a $51 charge from a “Just Answer”. Viator knowingly offered this. It is a $46 monthly fee subscription “helpline” that I did not sign up for. Finally, via phone, a Viator agent told me to get in line. They will accept my ticket. After standing in line at the Colosseum for 45 minutes I was told they could not accept my tickets, it was for a group. For a 1 pm tour we finally left at 5 pm with never seeing what we came for. It will take a lot to convince me I wasn't scammed.

If the customer had called our assistance service, we could have helped and directed her to the correct meeting point. In addition, we are sorry for the customer's bad experience with customer care but it is certainly not the fault of our company that does not offer and does not charge for any type of assistance that is always included in all the prices of our offers. Thank you

We booked the tour , and the day before received a message indicating that we needed to change the date/ time. We were e mailed tickets but were not met by anyone and had to figure out where to go. We were on our own to get into the Colosseum and other sites. So, if you are considering on buying this tour, avoid and purchase the ticket on the official website in advance of your visit. Be advised that there is alot of walking involved, but seeing the Colosseum and the Palatine Hill is well worth it Take the Metro to the Colosseum stop which is across the street. Also bring earbuds and have cell phone access to hear the online tour guide.

Reasonably priced tour but cannot recommend

Reasonable price but horrendously difficult to find ‘host’. No response from Viator but local rep from another helped us by phoning. Advised to download Coliseum app. which was pretty useless and no guidance for forum tour.

A last minute update when I had no service was not helpful. We arrived 20 minutes early to our reservation and walked around for a half hour until we realized that the guide had lost certainly left without us. I’m not sure as to why the guide waited until right before our reservation where there is no internet to contact me but it made us miss it. Very disappointing, we didn’t have access to our tickets either so we had to buy more. Would not recommend unless you have impeccable data.

Good morning, We are sorry that the customer was unable to arrive on time at the meeting point to participate in his activity. However, our staff always waits 15 minutes after the departure time of each ticket in order to give each customer the opportunity to participate even if late in the activity. In addition, in this specific scenario the customer in question was without internet coverage or credit to contact us, so that we could help him finalize his visit. Our staff as usual contacts all late customers trying to help them with the difficulties that can be encountered in a foreign city, in addition chaotic as Rome. Since the customer in question did not have data or credit on his phone we were unable to contact him and therefore he missed his activity. Once again we regret that the customer was unable to participate in his activity, despite all the efforts made by our staff. Best Regards

Complete scam. Don't buy it. Buy directly with Colosseum

I bought this tour because they were offering some special deals, such as exclusive entrance ticket and "Be guided to the Colosseum and benefit from your exclusive entry". Actually it's a total scam. First of all, there's no kind of special, exclusive entrance, it's just a regular entrance for tickets pre-purchased. This tour company bought my ticket on-line in a third-party website, on a time-frame difference than the originally scheduled and handed me and let me on my own. That's the reason why they state it may differ the time of the event. They don't have any kind of PRIORITY ACCESS, it's just a skip the line in a very poor way made, since even the time is a different surprise. Also, when I went to the host to pick the ticket she didn't find it, it took a while. Plus, nobody provided me the part of "Be guided to the Colosseum and benefit from your exclusive entry". I was on my own to get to the Colosseum. So, if you are considering on buying this tour, avoid and purchase only the ticket on the official website. You'll avoid stress and save many euros. Your experience will be the exact same.
