We were dying to see Pompeii and Herculaneum. As a first timer to Italy, they made it easy to get from Rome to Pompeii. Our guide was amazing! Mariana was wonderfully knowledgeable. We went in October and weather was perfect! Crowd wasn’t bad at all either.
Everything was exactly as planned. Well organized and extremely knowledgeable guides along the way. Paula was our main guide throughout and we were extremely impressed by her communication abilities, and and knowledge.
We had a level of expectations and it exceeded it. We would highly recommend this tour. Spending a little bit extra for a small group as well worth it.!!
If you are going to do Pompeii and Herculaneum in a day this is the way to do it. We had a group of 8 including 4 kids and it was super smooth from the transportation to the tour to the food and everything in between. Amazing experience and super straightforward which allowed us to just enjoy the sites.
A very interesting tour full of historical details and unknown to the many facts. Herculaneum was a surprise. Paola, the tour guide, was excellent, knowledgeable, calm, kind and very thoughtful of the group's needs. It really is a very easy-going tour easily accessible even from Rome.
Tour was very well organized. Met at train station both ends. No issues. Frederica, I believe, I was excellent guide for day. Knowledgeable and engaging. She kept everyone together and accommodated those with special needs as best as one could at an archaeological site. Lunch provided. We really got everything we had hoped for. Good value for the money.
It is a very long day with both archaeological cities and lunch included. It was a fabulous excursion but it is not friendly for those mobility challenged. Our guide maximized time, was sensitive to heat issues, and was very informative. The guides at train staions were very helpful navigating through to the train and cars.
Im being nice by giving it 2 stars really. The tour Guide was nice, on time, knowledgeable, intelligent and informative. Everywhere was easy to find. However, she didn’t take us to see the brothel, the museum At Pompeii or the bodies. She even said herself that those are the most Famous things that everyone wants to see but she wouldn’t let us see it. We asked twice to stop and get souvenirs but she said we didn’t have time. So I drove 12 hours to the airport, flew 11 hours, walked 45 minutes to train, rode train for hour and a half the s Bus for 30 min, then walked in the heat for 2 hours only to not see the bodies, brothel, and the museum And didn’t even have a sticker or t-shirt to bring home. It was so depressing and such a let down. But they took hundreds of dollars for our family of 4. I think I paid $1200. I could have cried. This company took advantage of us and didn’t take into consideration what I sacrificed to NOT see what I dreamed of seeing for 30 years. There were so many things we saw and had no explanation and tons of places she skipped. The meal Was TERRIBLE. I tried 4 different dishes. Service was excellent though. But we left hungry. Driver did a great job. I deserve a partial refund though.

However, our excursion includes a selection of the archaeological site's highlights, as it is simply not possible to cover the entire site within the time available on a day trip. The itinerary and duration of the visit are clearly outlined before booking so guests can make an informed decision.
As this is a group tour, the guide considers the interests and preferences of all participants while managing the scheduled itinerary. Guests looking for a fully personalized visit, with more flexibility to choose specific sites and activities, may find a private tour more suitable.
Regarding lunch, we would also like to clarify that the experience includes a light lunch, as specified in the tour inclusions.

Our guide was fantastic, as an archaeologist who has worked at the site and a native Pompeiian she is a the perfect person for this adventure. Her love of history and Pompeii were reflected in her information. She made sure to include our 9 and 11 year old grandsons in discussions which was made us appreciate her even more.
This was the best tour we went on during my 2 week Europe trip. The instructions were easy to follow and the tour guides were easy to find. Everything was taken care of and we just got to sit back and enjoy! Our tour guide was amazing and we learned so much. She showed us as much as possible in the time we had. Lunch was amazing and exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend this tour. Pompeii and Herculaneum were the most fascinating places we visited.
Wow!!! This tour is incredible!! We did day trip from Rome to Pompeii & Herculaneum by train. Pompeii was amazing, lunch was delicious and very filling, and Herculaneum is NOT TO BE MISSED…a true gem of preserved ancient history, even more so than Pompeii. Paula was a spectacular guide!!!
I didn’t realize how big Pompeii was, will definitely do again on our trip. Love how Italia Tours made sure we got on the right train in Rome and Naples. Great adventure!
Our tour guide Antonio was a Pompeii legend. He was friendly and shared many interesting facts about all things Pompeii and Herculaneum. The lunch included was also fantastic and a great way to separate the two sites.
Excellent communication and friendly guide. Guide was knowledgeable and lunch was above expectations. Sites were amazing. Lots of walking on uneven surfaces could be challenging for those with difficulty walking. I highly recommend this tour.
This was very through and entertaining. Due to the topography it is definitely not recommended for anyone who has any disabilities. The lunch was much more than just Pizza.
This was an amazing experience. To experience what life was like in Ancient times. Soo much history. Our guide Antonio is very knowledgeable. He was like an opened history book. I love having a guide who was explaining what we were looking at. It made the experience even better. We also enjoyed the the lunch break that was included. I love how everything was planned out and taken care of. Especially from having a guide to meet us at the train station, teaching us how to navigate the station and a guide bringing us back to the train station to get back to Rome. Thank you!!!
This experience was brilliant. Our guide, Felicia, was incredibly knowledgeable about both sites as she has studied and worked to restore parts of each. As a History Teacher I found this tour informative and Felicia was more than happy to share her knowledge with me.
This was an absolutely amazing experience. I originally booked for six people, but about a month before our trip we had an additional person join us. I wasn’t able to edit the booking through the app like I had done with another excursion, so I booked the extra ticket separately and messaged the company. They assured me we would all still be able to stay together for the whole day — and they delivered. They even made sure we were seated together on the train rides both ways.
Meeting the tour operator at the train station was very easy, and they walked us directly to our car. The directions for meeting our guide after arriving in Napoli were very clear — and that’s where we met the man who truly took the day above and beyond: Vincenzo!
Vincenzo is absolutely incredible at his job. The day of our tour was a little chilly and rainy, and considering how long the excursion is, it would’ve been easy for people to feel tired or bored. But not with Vincenzo. He speaks with such passion and energy. It’s not a tour where someone just rattles off facts; he tells stories. He brings everything to life. If I could have hired him for every tour during our entire stay in Rome, I absolutely would have.
Others in our group said the same thing — Vincenzo truly made this day a wonderful and unforgettable experience.
It’s a long day but worth the trip. The high speed train was easy and allowed for full day tour. Pompeii and Herculaneum are unique historical sites. Our guide, Ida, was extremely knowledgeable and made it a fun experience. It became the highlight of our trip to Italy.

Rome Termini Station is not the easiest to navigate. We arrived very early as we weren’t familiar with the station. Signage was not clear and station staff gave us the wrong information of where the meeting place was. We eventually found it. Our Rome meeting person arrived not long after that. Everything went great. The train trip to Naples was good. We found the guide for the other tour easily, our guide was at Pompeii. We then left the station for the bus but our bus was not there. Apparently there was an accident and they were stuck in traffic so the other guide arranged for another bus and driver which arrived about 10-15 minutes later. We arrived at Pompeii where our guide Ida was waiting and we started the tour. Ida was very polite and informative. Had a lot of knowledge of the archaeology and history. After the tour we went to lunch in the same area. The staff at the restaurant had no idea what I was talking about so they seated us at a table for two. Then the manager came out and said no you should be out the back, so we moved but he didn’t tell us what table. So we found another staff member who directed us to a group table. We just got settled at the second table when we were told that’s not your table and we were moved again to the correct table. It’s not just pizza as the title states. We had a three course meal with generous served, and you could choose anything from the menu which we were not told. The food was very good. Then we were off to Herculaneum. I didn’t do this part of the tour and stayed on the bus. I wish this was first on the itinerary as I had never been there and could have missed out on Pompeii as I have been there before. I didn’t do this part as I have bad knees and Pompeii took all my reserves. The train trip back was quick and we were back in Rome and in a taxi a short time later. While the tour was great I don’t recommend it to anyone with walking issues.
Food wasn’t that great…….but the tour itself is very well organised, informative, interesting…….tiring but so worth it! Guide was excellent and the high speed train an experience to remember
We, a family of four had a great day visiting Pompeii and Herculaneum. The instructions from the tour operator were clear and the train journeys were straightforward. Our tour guide was great, very informative and funny and we all learnt a lot whilst enjoying the experience.
This was a wonderful tour. Our guide Kiara was extremely knowledgeable and very nice! We had a small group which made it even more enjoyable. There is a fair amount of walking, so be prepared. The lunch included was very nice as well.

Having a guide who is an archaeologist with experience at these sites made the trip very special. This was my third trip to Pompeii, in particular, yet I learned so much new information and saw tremendous progress in the work and understanding since my last visit. Well worth it!
