Itinerary
Your day trip from Rome to Florence starts at Termini Station, where you’ll board the high-speed train for the 1.5-hour trip north to Florence, in the region of Tuscany. Admire the Italian countryside from the window of your standard-class carriage along the way.
Upon arrival, enjoy a walking tour of Florence to see big-name sights, beginning at the Duomo and continuing past the Ponte Vecchio, Via dei Cerretani, Piazza della Repubblica, and Piazza della Signoria, learning about the city's history as you go. You'll also enjoy timed entry to the Uffizi Gallery to see Renaissance masterpieces, including Leonardo da Vinci’s Annunciation.
Afterward, enjoy some free time to continue exploring Florence.
A few tips for your free time: check out the lovely views and landscapes in Piazzale Michelangelo and the Boboli Gardens, or if you’re into art, don't miss the Accademia Gallery, home to Michelangelo’s David sculpture. And a walk through the city center isn’t complete without a stop at the Florence Duomo (Cathedral of Santa Maria dei Fiori) to climb up Brunelleschi’s Dome.
When your time in the city ends, meet up with the group at Piazza del Duomo for the return train ride to Rome Termini Station, where your day trip concludes.

An ideal day excursion from Rome, beginning with a wonderfully scenic and comfortable train journey. The city tour was thoughtfully curated, and the visit to the Uffizi Gallery was an absolute highlight. Our guide’s exceptional knowledge brought every moment to life, making the highlights tour both enriching and unforgettable.

Tour schedules could be impacted by train delays. Overall a positive experience especially the local guide who walked us through the uffizi galleries, very I formation and explained what we were looking at very well.

The guides were incredible! This trip was stress free they made sure of taking care of all the details. Enough free time to explore but made sure to give plenty of time to meet up again.

A wonderful day in Florence. The trip includes transportation to Florence from Rome, a tour of the Uffizi Gallery -- our guide was incredible -- then most of the day is on your own so be prepared with ideas for how to fill the time. A really great day overall, particularly when you want to see more of Italy than just Rome.

Bullet Train was pretty cool, assigned seats, charging under the tables. There is plenty of time (3-4 hours) to do want you want after the Florence tour part. Our tour guide in Florence was great. Our guide that got us to/from train kept lighting up a cigarette right next to us while we’re waiting as a group which was a little annoying. Be aware if you decide to eat in Piazza (or anywhere in Italy) next to the Apple Store in Florence— After you get your food/drinks it may take 1-2 hours (no joking) to get your check. Wait stuff doesn’t get most of their pay from tips like in the US which means why would they want to clear your table and get more work? So just make sure you ask for your check right when they bring the food if you need to be somewhere within an hour.

The tour was too short only one museum. I didn't come here to shop but to see the Art in the museums and there should have been another ticket so I didn't have to wait online to biu one at the Gallerie Academy
Response from Host, May 2025
Dear customer - Thank you for your feedback, and we’re sorry to hear the tour didn’t fully meet your expectations.
We’d like to kindly clarify that this is a one-day tour designed to give travelers a chance to experience the highlights of Florence while traveling from Rome. While Florence is not far, it’s still a day trip that focuses on showcasing its charm within the available time.
The tour includes access to the Uffizi Gallery as stated in the description, but it does not cover tickets to other museums, such as the Galleria dell’Accademia. We understand your interest in exploring more art and recommend planning an extended visit in the future to enjoy Florence’s treasures at a slower pace.
Thank you again for sharing your thoughts, which help us improve and set clear expectations for our travelers.
Best wishes,
Gray Line Rome

I booked an English speaking tour for two.
It’s so happens my friend speaks English and Spanish. The entirety of the rest of the tour group were Spanish speakers. So this turned out to be really a Spanish speaking tour with a nod towards towards the one only English speaker. Mind you the tour leader was wonderful, and did the best under the circumstances. But she had to repeat everything twice in both languages, which was time consuming and meant we ALL received less information and attention, and our own language. It was very unfair to everyone, including the tour leader. This is truly a very negative experience.
Since I booked an English speaking tour, I am very upset. If the tour was billed as multi-language when I was booked, I would not have booked.
Response from Host, Apr 2025
Dear Susan - thank you for sharing your experience with us. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you experienced during the tour. In the off-season, when group sizes are smaller, we occasionally offer bilingual tours to ensure the viability of the tour, as this allows us to provide the experience with fewer participants without compromising the quality of service. We understand this can be frustrating, especially when it results in less attention in your preferred language. We truly appreciate your understanding and will consider your feedback to improve future tours.

This was a well organized tour with professional and friendly guides. There was plenty of free time as well. This was a great introduction to Florence.
JP_S, Nov 2024
The best part was our private guide.the detail she knew of Florence and art was fivevstar.
The frustration of the train delays almost ruined our day.
But it turned out okay.
Skip the line means you still stand in line. You just don't have to stand in the ticket line.
Gabriel_J, Oct 2024
The entire day was wonderful. Gabriele, our main guide for the tour did a great job. He was accommodating and had so much to point out. He made us feel like family. We also had an additional local guide for the museum who was incredibly knowledgeable.
We had plenty of alone time to explore the city.
Simply an amazing experience. Recommend.
Tieynce_K, Oct 2024
Trying to connect with the tour guide. Otherwise Florence was great besides there being a marathon in the city center.
William_M, Oct 2024
Very good tour guide in Florence.
Viator should have made it more clear that I didn't have an access ticket to the Duomo, I was under the impression I did have, so mainly my fault, but I was very disappointed.

Fantastic day! Very interesting and easy to walk everywhere. Our guides were very nice.
Highly recommend

We had a really good time on this day trip to Florence. It was a quick and pleasant ride on the train and then a short walk to meet the local guide. The guide was excellent in the Uffizi and we learned a lot. We then had the rest of the day to explore on our own. It was extremely hot, but that was to be expected for traveling in August. At the end of the day we had a meetup point and short walk back to the train station. It was a long day, but we had a great time and saw a lot!!

Our guide for the Uzzizi museum was so excellent! She was so extremely knowledgeable about the history of the museum and the treasures within. Her deep knowledge brought the masterpieces to life and we now have adeep appreciation for the experience!
James_E, Aug 2024
The trip was well organized and the guides were great. Despite the blazing heat, we were able to cover a lot of ground.
PREM_N, Jul 2024
Michela was grea.. She ensured we were well taken care of and guided us ably through the trip. Giovanni, the guide in Florence is a proud historian of Florence. He brought alive the importance of Florence in furthering rational thought during the Renaissance. Overall two people who made the trip easy and insightful.

Loved our guides. Loved Florence. My favorite part was the Ufizzi Museum. Enjoyed my first high speed train trip.
Jeanette_F, Jun 2024
Florence had the most interestingly colorfuly-decorated buildings!
Note that as this is a fast-paced tour, it us not recommended for thise 65 and older or mobility-impaired. As the train ran late, our group speed-walked to the meeting point with the Florence tour guide, whereas a phone call to that guide would have been better for someone like myself.
Response from Host, Jun 2024

Very good and informative tour. Florence is, as always, breathtaking. We had two guides: Marcelo took us from Rome to Florence (and back!), ensuring that everybody in the group is happy and safe. Elena was our guide in Florence, giving us a tour of the city center, and a brief tour of the incomparable Uffizzi gallery. We also had plenty of time to walk around the city and do sight-seeing/eating/shopping on our own.
Jasmira_F, May 2024
Loved the trip! Valentina was lovely! Loved the time spent with her. Giovanni made me feel at home. Such a gent! Loved the entire tour. I’d definitely recommend 11/10😎😘❤️Thanks for making my day as lovely as it could be!
Deanna_H, May 2024
Florence was beautiful. But I can’t rate this any higher than the three stars. The organization needs some drastic improvement. I did the option where there is pick up from the hotel and assumed that would be our tour guide for the duration of the trip. All that was was an overpriced taxi. We were then dropped off with no guidance on the corner. Guide was very nice when we initially met him and there were a lot of people. We soon realized that he was in charge of multiple tours at once. It was very confusing. He did not seem to wait for people and was difficult to find the crowd as he walked ahead very quickly. Compared to similar tours, he did not get up to check on people during the train ride, then once we Got off the train he walk very quickly. We got to Florence and he told us where we were to meet at the end of the day. He then showed us where our guide to the next part of the trip would meet us. It was about 35 to 40 minutes until then. There’s not much you can do That time. When we want to return to Rome, Guide very quickly crowd to the train station and then at one point left us without any guidance at the train station.

Was able to spend so much time learning about the history of Florence and just spending the day strolling there!
Yomara_G, Mar 2024
This day trip to Florence was great. Although it was a bit pricey and did not include a visit to see Michelangelo’s David, I’m glad I went.
Alisha_J, Feb 2024
This was a blast! We had a lot of fun and the group leader was a very sweet lady who made sure we were safe and taken care of. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and Florence was beautiful.
