The day runs as two back-to-back guided tours, each with prebooked entry, covering Rome's most visited sites. Both the Colosseum and the Vatican Museums require advance reservations to guarantee access—this package handles both, along with all entrance fees and audio headsets for clear commentary throughout.
The morning starts at the Colosseum—explore inside the arena with a guide covering the structure's history and use. From there, your group walks through the Roman Forum—the heart of ancient civic and political life—before heading up to Palatine Hill, which sits above the Forum and offers broad views across the site.
Between the two tours, relax and take a break with free time to have lunch (own expense) and make your own way to the Vatican in time for the afternoon session.
The Vatican portion begins in the museums, and moves through the galleries—including the Gallery of Maps and the Raphael Rooms—before reaching the Sistine Chapel, where your guide covers Michelangelo's ceiling fresco in detail before you enter. The tour finishes inside St. Peter's Basilica, checking off the architecture of the interior, plus key works such as Michelangelo's "Pietà."

Really good guide company, would recommend them in future. This is a long day, just understand that. It would be better to split this us into 2 days if you can, getting the first tour for either the Vatican or Colosseum, it's just very crowded, hard to keep up with the group in those crowds during the day, not the fault of the tour company.

The best way to see the most of Rome in a single day. Both of our guides at each location were very knowledgeable and taught us a lot and answered all our questions. Our group had a wonderful time on the tour!

All tour guides were awesome so much knowledge and very kind. Much more walking then we anticipated but was definitely worth it. Check in folks were not super friendly or welcoming but guides made up for it.

Great guide who was incredibly knowledgeable about the site. We were lucky enough to have her for both our morning and afternoon tours! Thanks Flavia!

Great guides! I can't recall their names but both guides were extremely educational, knowledgeable, entertaining, and just a great experience overall. It was a bit challenging getting from one tour to the next, and trying to eat lunch as well, but we made it, with 10 minutes to spare.

Kind, concerned, knowledgeable, patient, complete tour guides. Helping us beat the lines. English speaking was a plus. The audio ear plugs were very helpful even when it was noisy.

Great information. Guides are friendly, funny & very knowledgeable! Lots of people & walking - really great tour!
Jean_M, Sep 2025
Both tours were excellent. Guides were knowledgeable, friendly and patient. They knew how to position us to see from the best vantage points, amid large crowds. And gave us a wealth of info in step by step logical flow.

Great info
Maria was extremely knowledgeable and helpful
Especially worked through the weather challenges

Very informative and the guides are incredible. It was a treat to have Olga as our guide for the Vatican portion of the tour. This tour is full of incredible facts and gives you plenty of time in between to grab lunch and make it to the next tour. I went in June, so be aware of the heat because it is a lot of walking and can be very hot.

We had Maria Luisa for the Colleseum, Roman Forum tour and she was fantastic
She had to deal with a terrible situation that was not at all her fault with 3 people that couldn’t get their act together. She was professional at all times. I highly recommend her.

Started our day visiting the Colosseum with Silvia as our guide who was fantastic & had lots of passion showing us around the site. In the afternoon we visiting the Vatican & had Nicko as our guide who also was great at his job & shared his knowledge of the Vatican.
A must tour when visiting Rome

Colosseum is a place best visited with a guide. The tour was a good one and we enjoyed every bit of it.
Abhas_B, Apr 2025
Fantastic tour with very knowledgeable guides who know their stuff! Just make sure you find and reach thr meeting point a few mins before the scheduled time, since it can be a bit long to find and walk to, particularly for the Vatican part.

Amanda_D, Oct 2024
This tour was fantastic. I can’t recall our tour guides name but she was extremely knowledgeable. The Basicila, Sistine Chapel were amazing. I would highly recommend this tour company as we did an afternoon tour of the Colleseum which was equally as good.
Kassandra_R, Jun 2024
Patrick was knowledgeable and let us take photos often. Great Colosseum tour. Vatican tour canceled 2 days prior, but refunded. Not listed anywhere - Have passports or ID with you, We are lucky Colosseum was not checking the day we attended.
Debbie_P, Apr 2024
The Colosseum. Sylvia was an exceptional guide. She gave so much information and interesting facts. Very friendly and made everyone a part of the tour. The Vatican was also very good but I would not do both in the same day again. It makes for a very long and tiring day but I still recommend doing both just different days
Mario_M, Apr 2024
Our tour guide for the Coloseum was excellent. Our tour started late due to some people being late which delayed the end of our tour for almost 55 minutes, which did not give us enough time to make it to the afternoon Vatican tour.
We missed our tour at the Vatican due to poor directions on how to get . We were 10 minutes late and they did not extend us the same considerations like they did in our morning tour!
Max_C, Apr 2024
Both Tours guides Maria and Roxanne were amazing! Very knowledgable, friendly, professional, and knew all the questions that were asked
Nancy_M, Apr 2024
A great combined tour. Our guide were fantastic. Barbara at the colosseum and Cosmo at the Vatican. Both were very informative, were willing to answer any questions. Would highly recommend. The only downside was after the colosseum we had to find our own way to the Vatican. We took a cab. Thank you Cith Wonders
Willie_W, Apr 2024
These tours were wonderful. The guides were easy to understand and very thorough. The group was small enough to be join and enjoy. Keep in mind, there is a lot of walking so comfortable shoes are a must . I would take the tour again.
Holly_W, Mar 2024
Both guides were very knowledgeable. We walked away with a new appreciation and perspective of Rome's history.
Kent_D, Mar 2024
Guides were very knowledgeable and provided lots of history, however, the headset system was very poor quality which made it hard to understand at times. This is a walking tour which required much walking up/down stairs and over cobblestone and uneven pavement. We were surprised that we had to find our own transportation from the coliseum to the Vatican, even though this is advertised as a combo tour.
Ian_K, Mar 2024
good tour, very informative. we didn’t spend any time in lines, which was great. there wasn’t much time between the colosseum and sistine chapel, though. i wound up missing the second part of the tour.
Carey_D, Mar 2024
The Vatican was our favorite! So clean compared to rest of Rome. So much knowledge from our tour guide: Fabio for 2nd half of day. Also he was extremely nice but good humor too! We were exhausted the last hour but it was worth it to see as much as we did!
Clara_M, Mar 2024
I appreciated the tour guide explanation of the history and Information of the colosseum and Vatican. I think the pacing and amount of time allowed for viewing and pictures during the tour was perfect and plenty it did not feel rushed. Guides were knowledgeable and professional. I think the check in process was organized, efficient, and smooth. The radios were helpful for listening.
Christopher_R, Mar 2024
Oscar (Vatican City) and Maria (Colosseo) were great tour guides! They were very knowledgeable and gave us many fun facts about the areas, as well as details that weren’t necessarily related to the attractions but enhanced our experience. Oscar, especially, was hilarious and cracked jokes throughout the whole tour. I would highly recommend both tour guides!
