Itinerary

Bring an appetite, and make your way to a centrally-located meeting point in the heart of historic Rome, where you’ll meet a local guide for a specially-designed tour of Rome’s best sweets. Learn how dolci, or sweets, have been a part of Roman life since ancient times, and stop at a series of pastry shops and bakeries along the way.

Meet and talk with the artisans who craft Roman sweets each day, and sample a series of rich treats. In Rome, the sweets change with the season and with availability, but some favorite samples include cannoli, tiramisu, and sfogliatelle. Lesser-known to foreign visitors are layered, cream-filled diplomatici, babà, cassata, zabaglione, sfogliatelle, zuppa Inglese, and brutti ma buoni, cookies that are “ugly but good.” .

As you walk, you’ll also see some of Rome’s many landmarks, and your guide will share stories about the city’s history and culture. This 2.5-hour tour of Rome’s sweets concludes at the original departure point.

Great experience. Greta...

Jason_W, Sep 2025
Great experience. Greta was amazing. She did a phenomenal job in not only providing information on the deserts but also the history of them and the area. We were able to try things we wouldn’t have normally tried and experience exceptional food/drink. Would highly recommend.

Amazing tour!

Emily_C, Aug 2025
Greta was a fantastic guide! Very knowledgeable and personable. We loved all of the desserts & learning more about them while also learning about Rome. This is the first tour we’re doing of the trip and will be tough to top - can’t recommend it enough!

The dessert tour was great in that it was not only about having desserts but also a walking tour of some of the main attractions in Rome. Our tour guide Fabrizia was so good. She explained very clearly and was accomodating to any extra time needed at some spots.Highly recommended

Thank you so much for your kind words! We're thrilled to hear you enjoyed the experience. It means a lot to us!

Brilliant, unusual tour

LauraAndGen, Nov 2019
Our guide, Alessia, met us a few minutes early (always nice) at our meeting point. We were the only people on the tour (2 of us), so it felt like a private tour (and we were glad it wasn’t cancelled). We visited several cake and dessert shops and cafes, and were told a little about the owners backgrounds, where they came from etc. On the way, we saw some beautiful churches, and “off the beaten track” sights that we would never have seen, if we hadn’t done the tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly, and even walked some of the way back from the last stop with us, which was kind as it was dark by then, and we were afraid of getting lost! We would recommend this tour to anyone with a sweet tooth, who wants to see a different and interesting side to Rome. Thank you Alessia!

Desserts and History...Woohoo!

Was a great opportunity to learn about the desserts from the different regions of Italy and taste your way through Rome. Also got to explore different parts of the city. History and Desserts...woohoo!

I would recommend this guided wholeheartedly. Not usually interested in mass organised tours following an umbrella wielding guide, this tour could be no further from what we experienced. The group was small and informal, The meeting place was a gem Sant Iganzio church unassuming from the outside a wonder inside Our guide was knowledgeable interested eloquent and enthusiastic not just in the desserts but all things Rome. We gleaned small nuggets of information not just on traditional street food that would have just passed us by, The Madonnas protecting citizens, the marble plaques commemorating the height of the flooding of Rome to fantastic restaurants to eat. The tour was well paced giving us time to taste the wide variety of desserts. From small pastries through tiramisu best you'll ever taste to ice cream with a couple of limoncellos thrown in for good measure.Talking to our guide we have decided to spend our summer break in Sicily so yes truly converted to all things Italian Would I go again yes but the same guide would help. Would I recommend it to a friend Yes. Because all those extra calories consumed are easily burnt off

This tour operated in the afternoon and was a wonderful walk through Rome discovering its sweet pleasures. The meeting point was at a lesser known church and that was such a delight! If it wasn't for this tour I would not have known it even existed. While exploring the streets of Rome we enjoyed dolce such as gelato, tiramisu, cannoli and so much more. You will be on a sugar high after this tour :

Jessica L, Jan 2018
This tour was awesome and it didn't just involve food. We were able to go inside a couple of churches as well as learn about the history of several important places. All of the desserts we had were delicious and I had a great time.

OH YUMMY! This was so deliciously fun! I was the only per son on the tour. Walking with my guide Virginia was like have a friend show you around. Her knowledge of the area's history was fantastic and she was so gracious and answered all my questions in wonderful detail. AND THE SWEETS - well, they were out of this world. A great variety of taste treats, each one divine!

We were confirmed for this tour for...

Linda Z, Jun 2017
We were confirmed for this tour for 4 pm, but the tour leader was not at the assigned meeting place until after 4:30. We would have left and missed the tour except that 2 other people were there waiting for a 4:30 starting time. We were never informed of change of time. The publicity for the tour indicates information about the desserts, but we were given only the ingredients and asked to make choices of tastings. Background information was lacking.

Jutta I, Mar 2017
I spent an awesome afternoon with Rosaria beyond my expectations. So much information about history and culture, all connected to food! I discovered new flavours and a range of high quality cakes and desserts. And I "met" Tosca. Highly recommended!
