Confusing tour, no mention of needing ear buds for audio tour as audio is provided by a download to your phone. Colosseum impressive.
Steven_B, Apr 2026
I booked this tour through the website. I got a receipt from both Viator and the tour company. I showed up on time and the tour company told me that they didn’t have any tickets for me and they should’ve never accepted my reservation because the tour was full. This was our last day in Rome and our number one destination. There was no alternative tour. They promised me compensation and a refund. The compensation was a 15% off coupon at a bad restaurant. And I they have not refunded my money.
Pam_P, Apr 2026
Was not posted correctly. Said it was worth a actually guide and then nothing .. very confusing with the two. Called and complained they did nothing

Be sure to go through the bookstore and historical displays before you leave. Very interesting and informative!
Having a guide gave us such a better perspective. There are not many plaques to read to explain what you are seeing, so having Max there to give background and historical context was so worthwhile.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
Thank you so much for your kind feedback.
We’re delighted to hear that you found the experience interesting and informative, and that having Max as your guide made such a positive difference. It’s great to know that his historical context and explanations helped bring everything to life and gave you a deeper perspective.
We also appreciate your helpful tip about visiting the bookstore and historical displays before leaving—it’s a great way to complete the experience.
We hope to welcome you again in the future for another memorable visit.

My ticket to the Collesuem was for 11:30 but this stupid conpany messaged me saying “the Colosseum ADMINISTRATION has updated the ticket timing to 9:30” so i showed up early.
I met one representative at the said meeting point just go explore on your own, no tour guide provided. I went to the entry the ticket checkers said the timing in valid for 11:30 only as on the ticket. I came back to the meeting point and the other stupid person said ‘no no you don’t understand the timing for updated do the entry of forum so go to the forum first then the Collesuem’. Which is a lie forum can be visited any time of the day.
They lied about Collesuem administration and no guide was provided. No audio guide as well. Horrible experience.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
We’re very sorry to hear about your experience and understand your frustration; the timing adjustment was communicated to us by the Colosseum administration and was unfortunately outside of our control, though we regret any confusion this caused on the day. This is not the standard of service we aim to provide, and we sincerely apologize for the lack of clear assistance at the meeting point.
Mark_K, Apr 2026
Horrible Experience with Viator - completely messed up our entire last day in Rome. We purchased a 9am coliseum tour - woke up at 7am for this and to our surprise when we got to the gate they denied us since our ticket showed 12:15 instead of 9am. We missed our guided tour. We also missed another tour that was booked for 2:30pm that day. I reached out to Viator via WhatsApp. No response. Horrible experience - just book direct on the official site. Skip Viator.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
We’re very sorry to hear about the confusion and how it affected your day in Rome. The timing change is always communicated in advance via email, WhatsApp, phone call, and SMS, but we understand how frustrating it must have been to miss the tour and other plans. Your feedback is important and will help us improve clarity and coordination for future guests.
Jamie_R, Mar 2026
Chaos! Told us to meet at a certain point, which we did. Then a ride tour operated said my tickets were no good. Gave me a
Number to call which was “busy”. . Absolutely no help whatsoever. People were missing their tours. Tons of people trying to find their group and 2 people there directing traffic . Finally got tickets which were for thr wrong time… I would or use them again.
Response from Host, Apr 2026
We’re very sorry for the confusion and frustration you experienced with check-in and ticketing. To help us investigate the matter and resolve it properly, please provide your booking reference so we can look into the issue and issue a refund if necessary. Your feedback will also help us improve organization and communication for future tours.
Monserrath_V, Mar 2026
When I arrived the group was already gone. We still had 5 minutes before the tour started. Tried to message to see where they were and got no response.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Thank you for your feedback.
Our guides and check-in team are instructed not to leave the meeting point before the scheduled tour time, so the group should remain until the official start, especially if there are people missing. However, please note that Colosseum tickets are strictly time-sensitive, and entry is only allowed within a very limited window. This means that even a delay of a few minutes can unfortunately make it impossible to join the tour, as the group must leave on time to reach the entrance.
We always try to wait for guests who may be running late as long as possible, but we cannot risk the entire group missing their entry slot. This is why we kindly ask all guests to arrive at the meeting point 15 minutes before the tour start time.
We truly care about our clients’ experience and would like to better understand your situation. Please contact us via email with your booking reference, and we will be happy to review what happened.

The tour was probably a half hour long than would have been ideal for us as a family of four — lots of walking and lots of history but the sights were interesting and the guide was informative. Recommend, especially for Roman and Italian history buffs who want to see everything in detail.
Response from Host, Dec 2025
Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad you found the sights interesting and the guide informative. We appreciate your note about the tour length and are happy to hear you’d recommend it to history enthusiasts.
Manuel_J, Oct 2025
Guide was very knowledgeable of each section of the tour. Would recommend him to anyone interested in this tour.
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Thank you so much for your feedback!
We’re thrilled to hear your guide’s knowledge made the tour enjoyable . Your recommendation means a lot — we’re glad you had such a great experience!
Barbara_B, Aug 2025
Although our guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the tour, she walked and spoke at a rapid rate. Combine this with a very heavy Italian accent, it was impossible to comprehend the historical details of the tour. The reason why we signed up for this tour was to gain historical knowledge and this did not occur. I would not recommend unless you knew for sure you can understand your guide. Very disappointed.
Response from Host, Sep 2025
Thank you for your honest feedback. We’re sorry to hear the pace and communication style made it difficult to follow the tour. We understand how important clear and accessible information is and will use your comments to improve our guide training and guest matching.
Kirsty_W, Aug 2025
A well paced tour, from the moment we met at the meeting point to the end of the tour at The Forum.
Everyone on the trip was accommodated, from adults to children. Our guide made an effort to interact with everyone; it was lovely that he made time to gather the children on the tour together, asking them questions and relating the history to our present day. My little boy thoroughly enjoyed it.
Great pace. Our guide was friendly, kind and full of fantastic knowledge.
Well worth the booking - thank you!
Response from Host, Aug 2025
Thank you for this wonderful feedback! We're thrilled to hear your family, especially your little boy, had such a positive experience. It's great to know the guide’s engaging approach and thoughtful pacing made the tour enjoyable for everyone.
Roland_B, Jul 2025
In July it is somewhat crowded and hot. The tour guide was professional, knowledgeable, and vey helpful.
Response from Host, Jul 2025
Your observation that July tours can be crowded and hot is common, and it’s encouraging that your guide remained professional, knowledgeable, and very helpful despite these conditions.
Doug_C, Jun 2025
Our guide Huni was really fantastic, her ability to connect with the audience and paint a picture of the past was great. Her personality and knowledge of the history really carried us back.
Kimberly_S, May 2025
Our guide was warm, interactive, knowledgeable, and well paced. We thoroughly enjoyed our time learning about the Palantine, Roman Forum and the Colosseum!
Valery_J, May 2025
Was difficult to find the starting point. But the tour itself was good. Lots of historical information.
Magpie, May 2025
Very thorough tour. Great tour guide. Very considerate of us as we were by far the oldest in the group.Always on the lookout for us.
Response from Host, May 2025
Thank you for your kind words! We're so pleased to hear that your guide was attentive and considerate throughout the tour. Making sure everyone feels comfortable and included is very important to us!
John_F, May 2025
Our guide was excellent, very informative. Having a skip the line ticket was wonderful as it was very crowded. She was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Mackenzie_R, Apr 2025
Our tour guide Maria was very knowledgeable about the Colosseum and Rome in general. While she did have many interesting facts to share, some were not relevant to the experience and bordered on taking away from the experience. The tour was advertised as being about 2.5 hours to cover the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hill. After 3 hours we had only made it through the Colosseum and ultimately had to leave the group early as to not miss other activities we had planned. The Colosseum itself was incredible and definitely worth a visit, but the tour did get to be a bit drawn out.
Dana_S, Apr 2025
We enjoyed our tour a lot. Our tour guide Humi (known of her yellow glove:) made it special. It definitely worth to get this tour to skip the lines and to hear all the history. Colosseum is definitely the highlight of our stay in Rome!
Lauren_R, Apr 2025
This experience was truly incredible! The check-in process was smooth and straightforward; we were quickly guided to the staff in red jackets who checked us in. After that, we easily found our tour group by spotting others with the same orange stickers we were given. Our guide, Lorenzo, was exceptional—knowledgeable, engaging, and made the tour feel just right in terms of pace—not too fast, not too slow. I highly recommend opting for the full experience as it offers a thorough and enriching exploration. The tour concluded at the Roman Forum, where we had the opportunity to continue exploring at our own pace, making for a truly memorable day.
Jenny_S, Mar 2025
What an amazing experience!! One of my favorite things I’ve ever done. My whole family loved it. Super interesting and beautiful. Our guide Max was fantastic. He is super funny, charming, knowledgeable and made the experience perfect! You definitely want him as your guide.
Response from Host, Mar 2025
This sounds like an absolute vibe! 😍🔥 One of your fav experiences ever? 🙌💯 Max seems like a legend! 😂✨ Funny, charming, AND knowledgeable? The perfect combo! 😎 Definitely gotta have him as a guide! 👏
Inne_D, Mar 2025
Very good and complete tour. The guide knew a lot and was very funny. He was very patient with the group.
Response from Host, Mar 2025
hanks for the great review! 🙌 We're so stoked you enjoyed the tour and that the guide kept it fun and informative! 😄 Patience is key, and it sounds like they nailed it! Appreciate you sharing your experience! ✨
Curtis_B, Feb 2025
This was our first time in Rome.Marcello took his time explaining all the details of Rome. He ensured that the group stayed together and if anyone couldn’t make it through the tour to let him know. We too frequent breaks and Marcello spend extra time with the group to answer questions. The before and after photos of the colosseum was amazing. Thanks Marcello for all your humor jokes, you kept the group attentive.
Karyn_D, Jan 2025
This was the first visit to Rome for 3 of my children, so of course, the Colosseum was high on their list to experience. Lorenzo was such a wonderful guide. He really brought the history to life and shared details from Ancient Rome through the time of Mussolini.
We did not feel rushed and had plenty of opportunity to bask in the magnificence of not only the Colosseum, but also Palatine Hill and the Forum.
Lorenzo was also so generous in responding to questions and engaged with everyone in such a pleasant manner.
Glen_D, Nov 2024
Colosseum was ok. The ruins were better. It was probably because of our tour guide. Didn’t like our tour guide. He said over and over and over everything was built for propaganda. Not very descriptive. He was always in a hurry.
Response from Host, Feb 2025
We appreciate you sharing your feedback. We're glad you enjoyed the Colosseum and the ruins. We understand your disappointment with the tour guide's focus on propaganda and the rushed pace. We strive for our guides to offer engaging and descriptive tours, and we will address your concerns with our team to improve the overall experience. Thank you for your insights.
Theresa_G, Oct 2024
Our tour guide Francesca was very knowledgeable and provided good resource books and illustrations that assisted our understanding of the original structures and history.
Josefina_D, Oct 2024
Our tour guy explain very well all the story very patient 😀 and the weather was excellent 👍 my friend and I enjoyed so much
Samantha_M, Sep 2024
We love this tour and appreciated Benjamin’s knowledge of the Colosseum and Roman forum history. My only critique would be the meeting logistics. It was a little chaotic as there were people for additional meeting and that location, I was told to go to a specific area. Luckily, my husband walked around and found our tour guide because I was directed to an incorrect location. It was only a few yards away from the actual meeting location no biggie but if we had not been proactive in looking for our tour guide, we would not have made the tour to clarify this was not Benjamin’s fault. There was someone else directing individuals to groups. Overall, I would recommend this tour just be diligent when checking in.
