1st Public Museum in History with ancient iconic European works!!

So interesting that this is the 1st public museum in history , when Pope Sixtus IV in 1471 donated a collection of important ancient bronzes to the Roman people. Prepare your visit to see iconic works such as the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius, the Capitoline She-wolf, and the Capitoline Venus up close It’s a great experience!!

The Museum itself is great however getting tickets through this particular booking was confusing and ultimately unsuccessful for us. Would recommend buying tickets directly if you have the time.

Excellent experience with booking, picking up my ticket, and the video you watch before crossing the street to the Capitoline Museum. The ticket office for this booking is not inside the Capitoline Museum. It is diagonally across the street from the stairway leading from the street to the Museum at TOURISTATION ARACOELI office at Piazza Aracoeli, 16. I already knew a lot about the history of Rome, but the video was enjoyable and good visual preparation for what you are about to see in the Museum.

The Capitoline Museums are absolutely stunning, and they are definitely worth a visit. As the oldest museum in the world, the historical value is unparalleled. A bonus point is the amazing service we received at the Touristation meeting point. The staff was incredibly helpful, explaining everything clearly and even helping us download a city audio guide onto our phones. This guide gave us detailed information about all the monuments we encountered as we walked around. Additionally, in the cinema room, we watched a beautiful multimedia introductory video that was both informative and engaging. The entire experience was seamless and insightful, and I highly recommend visiting!

The video you can watch at their office is surprisingly good. Just remember to get your ticket before you climb that hill. It was self guided, no frills and as expected.

We booked this activity through Viator but it was hosted by Touristation. They provided a great video before we went to the museums. Lots of great exhibits and make sure you pay to get a ticket to the top of the church. The views are outstanding.

Capitoline Museum

The Capitoline Museum is a must see. But the ticket voucher/ printout was not accepted at the museum. The redemption location was not clear. I had to climb several long flights of stairs up to the piazzo, back down again. 20 minutes searching for redemption ticket exchange which was on the other side of a busy traffic circle and back up the steps again. That should not have to happen with clear instructions and a map. I’d rate the museum 5-stars and getting there 1-star.

Viator has let us down this whole trip. After walking up a giant hill in the heat, the attendant at the museum was super rude and told us that this was not a real ticket. After speaking with the ticket office, we were told to go to the the tourist office to get our paper tickets. After doing that we were still unable to get in. The attendant said we had to go buy another ticket. This is a scam. I paid $78 for fake tickets. The admission tickets were only 14 euros and there was no line. Don’t bother with this.

Easy entry. Museum staff was very helpful with directions. The art collection is fabulous. The cafeteria had tasty panini and the staff moved quickly. Don’t forget to see the view from the restaurant terrace. It was a great day!!

Amazing Museum

Good activity! The vouchers were easy to exchange for tickets since the Touristation is basically just across the street from the museum. We didn’t have to wait too long to redeem the vouchers, although it was November. It might be a bit of a wait in the summer. The Capitoline Museum is a must see. There is so much there it is hard to take it all in. Just being able to actually see the She Wolf sculpture was beyond amazing. Seeing Constantine’s enormous head, hand, foot was worth it! If your time allows, you should visit this museum.

The particular tour I purchased required you to go to a ticket office to exchange the voucher for the actual ticket. This is lame beyond words because....I skipped the iine to get in however I waited in a super long line at the ticket office to exchange the voucher. So I swapped one line for another. Additionally We didnt get the hosted entry, it only goes off every so often so we had to take in the museum on our own. The museum is great but dont do this tour.

We were not instructed or informed of how to get the multimedia video. We did enjoy our time there, but one should be told you should plan a half a day in Capitoline Museum. There is so much to see.

Museum great; ticket pickup a hassle

The Museum is excellent and not to be missed. However, we could have skipped buying our tickets through Viator as the museum sells them directly and for much less. Regardless of the price, the biggest inconvenience is that you need to get your PRINTED tickets elsewhere in a hard to find (and busy) tourist office and then you need to walk back and up some long stairs to the museum. Why can’t Viator just send the electronic tickets once one pays and thus avoid this extra step??
