A great way to see Rome. Stefano did a great job making sure we saw all the main sights and also recommended a great cafe for lunch. A wonderful experience!
Peter was our Driver from the Cruise Port to all over Rome. Peter was super Professional Driver and Tour Guide. We got to see all the main Attractions and visited Vatican Square, I would recommend and Ask for Peter , he knows all roads around Rome. Yes very happy with Viator and our trip to Rome. ✅👍😁

Probably one of the best tours we have ever been on. Alex Paolini was our guide and he was phenomenal. He confirmed the night before, showed up early the day of and had a sign with our name which made it a breeze as we walked off the cruise ship. He was full of knowledge and accommodating throughout the entire trip. He took us to everywhere we wanted to go and also went out of his way to make sure we had tickets to the Trevi Fountain. Not only did he suggest a great place for lunch but he also made sure we had reservations. Stress free day in Rome (I cannot imagine doing it any other way), I would highly recommend this tour!

We had a very good day visiting Rome from the cruise port of Cividavecchia.The driver Paolo was waiting off the cruise gangway when we walked out, following our names on the sign he held. No need for shuttle bus. We started the day being chauffeured around in a large Mercedes minivan with all the expected comforts. The AC was in full blast to counter the early morning heat in late August weather. Paolo explained all interesting local and historical tidbits when we’re on the way to Rome. Small van tour is the best way to visit Rome in a day. We didn’t have to walk too far at all. Paolo literally dropped us off right in front of the places we wanted to visit, and we were on our own way. We summoned him back with a text and he’s ready at the rendezvous point to pick us up to the next destinations. I’ve heard horror stories from others that they had to walk 30-40 minutes to a destination when taking a trip on large full-size bus, as large bus has to use designated parking spaces far from any destinations, 30-40 minutes walk one-way, not to mention the heat of the summer. Paolo took us to 9 places around Rome, which obviously we cannot do it ourselves without the intimate local knowledge to get around. The cost of a private tour is more than a shared large tour, but it was so worth it considering all the walking one has to do in a large shared tour. For us, it was a very well-spent trip. We would not hesitate to do it again. Not sure if you can ask for a particular driver, but Paolo is the one to get if possible. At the end of the day, Paolo dropped us off a few steps from the gangway, and we’re back to the cruise ship before 4:30PM, in time to hit the buffet for some afternoon snacks.

Our family had the absolute pleasure of spending the day in Rome with our private driver and guide, Paolo, and it was truly one of the highlights of our entire European vacation.
From the moment he greeted us at the cruise port, Paolo made us feel genuinely welcome. He was warm, personable, and immediately put us at ease. Throughout the day, he shared fascinating stories about Rome’s history, architecture, and culture, turning every drive between destinations into an engaging learning experience. His knowledge is incredible, and his passion for his city is evident in everything he does.
What impressed us most was how much we were able to see in a single day without ever feeling rushed or overwhelmed. Paolo planned the day perfectly, allowing us time to explore each location while keeping everything running smoothly. We experienced so much more than we ever imagined possible.
By lunchtime, we had enjoyed his company so much that we invited him to join us, and we’re so glad we did. The conversation continued over lunch, and it felt less like spending the day with a tour guide and more like spending it with a friend who genuinely wanted us to experience the very best of Rome.
Our children absolutely adored him. In fact, when the day ended, they jokingly asked if we could bring Paolo back onto our cruise ship so he could join us at our next port! Even after returning home, they’re still talking about him and everything he taught us.
Paolo didn’t just show us Rome, he made us appreciate it in a way we’ll never forget. If you’re considering a private tour, we cannot recommend Paolo highly enough. His professionalism, warmth, knowledge, and ability to create such a memorable experience are truly exceptional. We had a fabulous time, however if can avoid Sunday and a Catholic holiday, you would have less crowds. So glad we had a driver take us around and tell us about the sights, instead of doing Rome on our own.

Wow! This was an amazing experience! Beatrice was beyond knowledgeable and gave us so much great information. She is such an awesome tour guide. Told us the best places for pictures, directions to see the best sites. She gave us ample amount of time at all the places we wanted to go. We saw almost everything on our “list” and then some. She started our day at a quaint bakery where we had pastries and coffee. We would not have been able to do this on a large group tour. We also were able to get places that the bus tours would not have been able to take you. She is so informative and answered any questions that we had. She is very passionate about her work and loves Rome so much. It showed in her excitement of sharing the city with us. I would highly recommend this excursion!

Our driver Paolo was excellent. He took us to several places in the city we were not aware of and provided a lot of great information all along the tour. He gave us a great tip to skip the line to get into St. Peter’s Square and Basílica which worked excellent.

We did several excursions on our 11 day cruise and this was by far the best!! Beatrice was our driver. she picked us up at the port, was very cognizant of the return to boat last call time throughout the dayas we toured the city. She was very knowledgeable about Rome’s history (archaeologist), best restaurants, and quickest routes to get to our requested locations. She had a list of the top attractions, but was very accommodating to fit in our personalized list. We told her what kind of food we were hungry for, and she picked out a great restaurant and set the reservations. If you’re looking for a private tour of Rome, you’ll be so glad you found this one. Make sure you ask for Beatrice. She is the best.!

Can not say enough good things about our experience with our Viator tour of Rome. We were picked up at the cruise port by Stefano Zanetti in a very nice Mercedes. During the tour, Stefano took us places where an NCL shore excursion bus could never go. Upon request, he briefly detoured off the main highway to show us the remanence of the Roman aqueduct. Stefano knew all the side streets, back alleys and places to park so our walk to the different attractions was always a short one versus having to walk blocks with 50+ people from a tour bus. He was VERY knowledgeable of Rome and its history, and we came away knowing much more than when we started. We late-booked tickets into the Colosseum, 2 days before arriving, Viator took care of it and Stefano had our tickets in hand. All we had to do was contact him and he would pick us up from each venue. The cost is a bit more than a shore excursion but for what you get, well worth the extra price. My wife and I will definitely use Viator on future adventures.

Wow! What a magnificent day! Beatrice, our tour guide, texted me the night before to provide me with her number so that meeting the next morning would be seamless, and it was. She was waiting right on time, right outside the cruise terminal. She showed us to her clean, comfortable Mercedes SUV, and we were off! From the second the tour started, Beatrice was taking the time to get to know us, learn what was important for us to see during our one day in Rome, made changes to her plan to make sure it happened, and even built in some extra stops. Let me tell you, I don’t think there is anyone in Rome who has a greater knowledge of its history, or who loves this city more! It was amazing to hear her speak of all the facts that she knew about ALL of the locations we went to. I am 100% certain that we saw things that others did not, including those who have been to Rome multiple times. Above and beyond all of that, Beatrice was just simply a joy to spend the day with. She is one of the kindest people I have ever met. We look forward to staying in touch with her and seeing her again when we return to Rome for a longer visit. I could not recommend this tour, this company, and especially Beatrice any more. If you are thinking about a reasonably priced private tour with the best guide in Rome…pick this one. I promise you won’t regret it.
