Cartopia Food Carts: 1207 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland OR, 97214. There are two entrances, please use entrance on 12th St near the white bike racks. Your guide will be at a table there, or if wet/rainy will be under covered area, and will have a yellow sign and yellow bag on table.

- This is a walking tour, total walking distance will be approximately 1 miles. Please be prepared to walk in any type of weather. Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately including footwear and umbrella/rain gear.

Herb was an excellent tour guide. He shared a wealth of knowledge about the Portland food scene. The food was also amazing!. We had an excellent poutine, pelmeni, a Burmese noodle salad, a Belgian waffle dessert, street tacos, and more. I highly recommend this tour.

Highly recommend! Michelle was our tour guide and she was a wealth of knowledge about the city of Portland. The food was amazing……so amazing I forgot to take pictures 🤣 and so much food! We do food tours on all of our travels and this has been the best one to date! Those tacos 🥳

Herb was a great tour guide! Really appreciated his enthusiasm and love for Portland food and the people who create the food. He gave important information about the tour logistics, Portland cultural background, stories and people of the food we were eating, and had fun little games to make things engaging. The food was very diverse and got to try things on my wish list. I enjoyed walking around and Herb sharing local updates and news with the city as well.

We are local but wanted to join our friends who visited us from out of state. The tour was a great way to learn about Portland and its food scene.. We are a little biased since we’ve tried one of the food carts in the past.. (We weren’t given a detailed list of carts beforehand but it was exciting to try new things). Herb was knowledgeable, funny, and exemplified Portland. I definitely want to check out their donut tour!

While I personally had a good time, and there was plenty of food, there was also a LOT of trouble matching the dietary needs of the rest of the group, and I'd like to acknowledge that. A vegetarian wound up being fed some meat before they realized, and another person had to frequently exchange some food or hand it off to someone else because of toppings. Thankfully for most of us it wasn't anything so critical as allergies, but if it had been, we'd have been in deep trouble.
It was a 90-degree day so maybe we can chalk it up to that, but a lot more attention needs to be paid to who needs what! A second trip to the cart to make sure any altered food is correct would be a lot better than bringing everything at once and getting confused over who needs what or if something was made correctly.

This was a rare moment where we truly missed the mark, and we take full responsibility. In fact, it was the first time in over 15 years of guiding tours where our guide made an error handling dietary requests. We know how frustrating that must have been for the group, and while we’re glad you still had a good time, we sincerely apologize for how this impacted the experience for others.
To give a bit of context for future guests reading this: we work closely with our vendors to place orders ahead of time, and we require all dietary needs to be submitted at the time of booking so we can accommodate them properly. Unfortunately, a few requests for this tour were not disclosed until the tour started, so were not passed on to our guide or partners in time. The guide did their best to adjust on the fly, but one vendor misunderstood and served the wrong item, and the guide didn’t catch it, which is on us. This is not typical for us, and your feedback has already led to internal updates to help prevent it from happening again. Thank you again for your honesty, we’ll use it to do better, and we’d love the chance to welcome you back next time you’re in Portland. Take care!

Herb made us count. This was my 8th food tour. This one stands out for a couple of reasons. Michelle, the owner of the company, worked individually with me to make the tour work for me. Herb took us to multiple places. The food he presented was varied, unexpected and always tasty. We had about 10 things to eat/drink. I had had three of them previously. Herb was also full of bits of information that ranged from the people cooking our food to the streets we were walking down. I left with a lot of knowledge and a very full stomach.

This was the best food walking tour I have ever been on. Herb, our guide, was exceptional. His knowledge of Portland and of its food cart/pod scene was above and beyond other guides. He made this a great experience for our group. The food was amazing, the stops were fabulous and the discussions were very robust. Come hungry!

We had a great time and tried food we wouldn’t have tried on our own. The portions were a great size and we were stuffed by the end. Herb was an excellent tour guide and did a great job of telling us about the food and the area. Would totally recommend anyone to do this tour.

The walking was the reasonable …if you are concerned, my food allergies were considered. Herb was very knowledgeable on the historical beginnings of the food cart industry and the city of Portland overall. By the end you will be full and would have connected with the group. Do it!!!!!!
