Coffee at Ovation Station made the trip!

Jennifer_K, Jul 2026
The gondola ride was nice, however, it's not really a tourist attraction, as it is a commuter tram. Both up and down rides were full of people going to work. I think throwing in the "tourist attraction" was an after thought for sure. The coffee at Ovation Station was DELICIOUS and the highlight of the trip. Donuts were very heavy and oily- not a fan-we heard a lot of history from the tourist guide though.

Response from Host, Jul 2026

Hi Jennifer! I'm so glad you like the coffee! The tram is indeed a commuter line as we say in our tour information -- we just offer a curated ride on it and make sure you can find all the great views once you get to the top! It sounds like you liked the way the guide gave you history. I'm sorry the doughnuts weren't your style; they win best doughnuts in Portland regularly, but everyone's tastes are different.

Beautiful view

It was a fun ride to the top and beautiful views from the hospital. Nice to enjoy the view with coffee and donuts.

Nice way to start the day.

Tour guide was really knowledgeable about the neighborhood and Portland in general. She’d grown up there in the 50s. Beautiful view. Fun to learn something new about the city.

Nancy was our tour guide and now I need her to do every tour that I ever go on for the rest of my life.

Tour name is misleading, not a “sunrise” tour

Trish_K, Jun 2026
Our tour guide was wonderful, however, we booked a “sunrise” tram ride with coffee and donuts. Sunrise was at 5 we found out and it was explained that tours don’t start that early. You should really change the tour name to remove “sunrise” as it’s very misleading. We also had to buy our own coffee which we thought was part of the ticket price. We were just very confused by it all. Having said all of this, we were very pleased with the tour guide and what we learned. We realize she has nothing to do with how the tour is marketed. I would recommend the tour as it’s beautiful views, but just let people know they’re not going to see the sun come up.

Response from Host, Jun 2026

Hi Trish! We used to do the tour only in the winter but had a lot of demand for it in the summer. The aerial tram does not open early enough for a sunrise ride due to the tilt of the earth and the latitude, and the coffee and doughnut places do not open until 6 and 6:30. It would be a sad sunrise tour with nothing to do but watch the sunrise from outside closed businesses and conveyances. Because we note that in the tour description, changing the title for the three months when sunrise is so early seems silly, and unfortunately we cannot change any of the other factors. I’ll be reaching out to people booked at the 6:30 time in the future to let them know they have to see the sunrise on their own. Coffee is not part of the ticket price. The tram fare and doughnut is. It is clearly stated in the exclusions. I’m sorry you missed that in your booking. It sounds like you had a great time and I would ask you in the future to consider that three star reviews over small details do impact the small businesses you are booking with.

Loved it! Highly recommend!

Our tour guide often...

Bonnie_S, May 2026
Our tour guide often walked at the front of the group talking forward, not often audible. It appeared she read off the hospital timeline wall about the history, something we could have done. She was very nice . We really wanted the sunrise experience, which isn’t available this time of year. Maybe we could have done it ourselves . Disappointing.

Response from Host, May 2026

Hi Bonnie, I’m sorry but not surprised you had a disappointing experience, as when you messaged to ask about the sunrise, I informed you that the sunrise is too early to see on the aerial tram in May, June and July due to the opening times of the tram and the coffee shop and offered you a refund. The day was cloudy and you wouldn’t have seen a sunrise even if we could have ridden the tram before it opens at 5:30. If you had accepted my offer you would have avoided disappointment and read off the history wall yourself. It may be that you are just as disappointed with your decision; or the weather; in either case I am sorry about that. When we are walking from doughnut shop to tram, we have a policy of only chatting and not delivering narrative, because everyone may not be able to hear, which is why we wait to deliver history until the group is assembled. The wall seems like a good place to do it, and when people are engaged, they usually get a lot more out of it than you did.

Great little tour! Our guide was so knowledgeable about the tram, the hospital system, and Portland in general. The views were pretty, too. Would definitely recommend!

A cool experience

Karthik_R, Apr 2026
Sarah was a great guide and enjoyed the experience and got to try some of the best Portland coffee and donuts and to learn a bit about the history of the city

Beautiful sunrise, amazing views.

Pickup location changed but Sarah was amazing picking us up. She was very helpful, providing us with historical data.

Great start!

If your new to Portland this is a perfect way start your exploring and plan out and ask questions to the guide about what else you are planning.

Great quick trip, awesome donuts from Blue Star included and definitely try the morrocan spiced coffee at Ovation before the trip starts.

Why not?

Oriana_C, Mar 2026
We dont like to wake up super early but the pics made it look nice. Not everyday you're in a different city. Teens enjoyed it. It was a one time type of thing. So why not! Donuts were yummy

Response from Host, Mar 2026

Hi Oriana! You have all nice things to say so I’m not sure why you rated us this war. Maybe that was a knock against the early morning! We also have 9 am departures on some days.

Absolutely loved it.......

Tram - Aerial view Portland

Jennifer_B, Feb 2026
Such a cool way to see the city from that perspective. The views of downtown, the river and Mount Hood on a clear day were absolutely stunning. My guide Sarah made the experience even better. She was incredibly informative, sharing facts about the city’s history and the surrounding landmarks. You can tell she truly knows her stuff and enjoys what she does. She was thoughtful and made the experience engaging and personal. Her friendly energy and knowledge elevated the whole tour.

Best tour and view!

A lovely low-key experience with a knowledgable guide. Don't like the 10 character minimum on this question.

Overpriced for what you get

Kathryn_W, May 2025
Our guide was nice, but the excursion was very simple and something we could have done much cheaper on our own. The experience was supposed to include the cost of the donuts, but we had to pay for them separately. We didn’t receive enough value for the price.

Response from Host, May 2025

I'm glad you loved your guide! When customers choose to order extra items and offer to pay, our guides don't argue! With all the recommendations and history we offered, I hope the rest of your trip here was excellent :)

It was lovely- we are local to PDX but decided to go on a whim. My 12 year old son loved it and has informed me he would like to do it again ❤️

I would love to have your great kid along with us again! We're so happy you found us <3
