The Kaneohe Sandbar is one of the best places around Oahu for swimming and snorkeling. But, without your own boat, it's tricky to get there. This boat trip does all the hard work for you so that you can relax on board as you cruise to the sandbar then spend your time as you please, whether by jumping into the water, spotting turtles or just soaking up the sun and scenery.

Itinerary
Your afternoon of snorkeling at the Kaneohe Sandbar begins when you make your own way to the Heʻeia Kea Boat Harbor, where you’ll meet your crew around noon. Sail to the sandbar, which takes about 15 minutes and isn’t easily accessible if you don’t have a boat.
Don your snorkeling gear and spend about two hours at the sandbar, looking out for turtles in particular, which live at one end of the sandbar and can often be seen. You’ll also have the chance to swim, relax on the boat, or go stand-up paddle boarding. Bring your own snacks and drinks if you want to refuel throughout the afternoon.
You’ll head back to the harbor in the mid-afternoon, so you’ll still have plenty of time in the day for other adventures.

Captain Krystal and First Mate Hannah were the absolute best! They found so many turtles and made our day the best day ever! It was insanely beautiful and peaceful to play in the bay with an amazing view of the mountains, snorkel with sea turtles, and simply enjoy life. One of the top 10 days of my life. Would definitely come back to this bay and this tour if I return to Oahu.

Very fun day with the Captain Bruce crew out on the Kaneohe sandbar! Great crew, lovely snorkeling and scenery, and tasty snacks! A great trip for all ages - easy to get on and off the boat, different water sports activities available, or just beautiful scenery out on the water if you didn't feel like doing much. All of us really enjoyed this activity and the day. It was definitely a highlight of our trip to Oahu!

Jamie and Karen and the Captain and crew were all friendly and helpful and we saw all kinds of cool ocean life. Great drinks and snacks and equipment. Highly recommend especially if you’re not the most confident swimmer as you can stand in the water if you don’t want to go to the deep water.

Our family of five had an incredible time on this snorkeling adventure! It was truly one of the highlights of our trip. We had a wide range of ages with us — my 21-year-old son who is stationed in Hawaii, my 13-year-old son, and my almost 70-year-old mom — and every one of us loved the experience. That alone says a lot about how well this excursion is run.
Captain Casey and his crew were fantastic. They were fun, knowledgeable, and made safety a clear priority while still keeping the experience relaxed and enjoyable. We saw beautiful sea turtles, so many colorful fish, and had a great time snorkeling and paddle boarding.
The weather was actually cooler and overcast that day, but it didn’t take away from the experience at all. If anything, it made the adventure feel even more memorable. We left the boat on such a high from everything we experienced.
My son who lives in Hawaii has already recommended this excursion to his friends, which says a lot. I would absolutely recommend this trip to anyone visiting!

The outcome if this trip is very dependent on weather conditions. Our trip today happened in less than ideal weather. The waves were very rough and the winds were strong. Which meant any attempts at SUP or other activities in the sandbar were frustrating. The snorkeling part of the trip was slightly better because we saw many kinds of fish but we had to work hard against the waves to swim back to the boat. The number of people snorkeling was large which mean being kicked in your face or having your snorkel mouthpiece being yanked out--as well as being crowded out when the guide was pointing out interesting marine creatures. A semi-private boat is recommended if you don't want to be fighting a crowd. The crew were very nice, pleasant and very helpful and did their best--no reflection on them, just the weather was awful for water activities today plus too many folks.

Awesome staff, fun activities (paddle boarding and more), followed by snorkelling. I saw tons of unique fish, sea turtles and more. I felt safe the whole time. Stunning views of the clear waters. Would definitely go again.

We had a great time on this tour. The crew was exceptionally good as they love to work together and it shows. The sandbar is really magical and the snorkeling was very good. It was the place I saw the most turtles and fish while on Oahu.
Do keep in mind you are at the mercy of the weather. We went out in windy / rainy conditions and we made the best out of it. They have a big barge out on the sandbar with lots of toys - paddleboards, tubes, floating coaches, etc. They weren't super useful in windy / rainy conditions but we did ok. It was still fun to walk around a sandbar in the middle of the ocean. You do that for a little while, then you move onto snorkeling. You only snorkel on one little reef on the backside of the sandbar, but it is a pretty decent reef. Lots of fish and turtles. The visibility wasn't great on the day I went, but it was still pretty good. On a clear, calm day I bet the whole experience is magical. I hope to get back someday (during dry season!) and try it again.

It was fantastic. We took a taxi it was about 45 min from Waikiki but there's also a bus. We went out, saw some sea turtles then headed to sandbar. Excellent place to swim, snorkeling and water sports available like kayak, floaty and paddle board. Mountains in the background it does not get prettier. Great crew.

What fun for everyone! We were the oldest on the boat, but it didn't matter. The staff was there to make the best experience for everyone. Swimming in the warm water and playing with the water toys was just the warm-up. Snorkeling with the fish and sea turtles was the climax! And there were great snacks and drinks. So glad we chose to take the trip!

I have been to Hawaii numerous times and I cannot believe I have never done this. The staff were amazing and so friendly. They provide snacks and all the fun ocean items you need! The views are breathtaking and the trip was a 10/10

Great experience. Crew was extremely knowledgable and helpful. We were able to observe sea turtles in the open sea and in the reef. Ample opportunity to snorkel and staff helps to guide you and show you a lot of cool species. The sandbar is very relaxing but you might run into some dead coral/rock so watch where you step. When done with snorkeling you can tube, paddle board, and hang out on the boat with snacks and refreshments. Staff is very friendly and make good conversation. It was our first excursion and a great way to get acclimated to the ocean.

Had an amazing time! So nice to be in the middle of the ocean and be able to stand. Was our first time snorkeling and the Captain made sure we were comfortable before heading out to deeper waters. Wonderful crew and a perk is drinks and snacks are provided.

So much fun on the sand bar with my family. Very kid friendly with children ages ranging from 3-16. Lots of water toys and fun snorkeling! They had plenty of drinks and snacks on board for us.

I have been on a tour to the sandbar 5 times but this was the first time with Captain Bruce. I regret that each time I didn’t book with Captain Bruce! They were absolutely amazing and friendly. This is the only trip that actually takes you snorkeling to the reef in deep waters not like the other ones where it’s just by the boat. Also, it wasn’t a big group so everyone had so much space to swim freely and enjoy the paddle boards. They had really good snacks and drinks for everyone to enjoy. The captain and his crew educated everyone really well on what to do and if you didn’t know how to snorkel the captain himself went out with you and helped you out. I didn’t have kids with me but the people who did were literally having so much fun because the crew was playing with the kids and making sure they were safe.

I was a little concerned about the cost but was very pleasantly surprised, the staff was awesome and incredibly helpful with our kids during the snorkel and play on the sandbar. I wish I could remember everyone’s names but we were with the group that went on Friday at 12:15 with Ryan and I think the captains name was zen. In any case Ryan was awesome playing with the kids and there was one crew member that was helping with the snorkel tour that helped both of our bigger kids when they started to struggle just a bit in the water. The little spam sushi’s were better than anticipated and the kids left happy and tired as advertised. Highly recommend and we’ll probably use again if and when we come

We had a wonderful time on the sandbar/snorkeling experience. We were able to see lots of fish and a turtle during the snorkeling portion. It was our first time snorkeling and the team was very helpful and assisted us when needed. The sandbar portion was also fun. There were a lot of water toys and floats for us to enjoy and we even tried paddle boarding. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a fun afternoon activity with friends and family!

Saw lots of fish and a few turtles. Plenty of equipment and activities to do on the sandbar. Weather wasn’t great, but we still had a good time, thanks to the crew!
