We visited the Central Park Zoo yesterday and were pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable the experience was. The weather was beautiful, which made it easy to take in both the indoor exhibits and the outdoor areas at a relaxed pace. Because the zoo is on the smaller side, it never felt overwhelming or crowded, and we appreciated being able to move through the exhibits without rushing or waiting in long lines.
The layout is divided into distinct zones, each with something memorable to offer. In the Tropic Zone, the titi monkeys were a delight to watch, full of energy and personality. The Temperate Zone stood out with its red panda and snow leopard, both of which drew plenty of attention from visitors. My favorite was the Polar Circle, where several penguin species, including king penguins, could be seen up close, creating a space that felt both lively and calming at the same time.
The visit also included admission to the 4-D theater, which is located just outside the main zoo area. I chose to go after finishing the exhibits, and while the movie was clearly geared toward children, it was still a lighthearted way to round out the day.
Altogether, the Central Park Zoo felt like a refreshing pause in the middle of the city—a manageable, well-kept space that balances variety with simplicity. It’s not an all-day destination, but it’s a lovely stop if you’re looking to slow down and enjoy a different side of Central Park.

The relatively small, beautiful Central Park Zoo was a colorful & engaging experience for an hour & a half or two. Most of the animals we encountered (between 3 pm & 5 pm on a Friday) were very active. We learned a lot as well from the signage and staff. We didn't save time for the Children's Zoo nor the 4D Movie.
It was good not having to stand in a ticket line, having purchased admission on Viator.

This zoo was so much fun! It had just enough animals and animals you don't necessarily get to see in the zoos where we live. I had read reviews before we went and some talked about it being small so I was concerned but those turned out to be unwarranted. It was great. My 8 and 9 year old as well as my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit. It was a highlight of our stay in NYC.

Really good value for money booking through Viator good experience definitely worth it, it takes about a good two hours to see everything and the 4D experience was really good, download the map on your phone before hand so you can guide yourself around as there are no paper maps

We booked this visit after a walking tour of Central Park and we were in the area. It is a relatively small zoo, but there's enough to entertain for a few hours. The sea lions were particularly entertaining. The warmth in the Tropic Zone was welcome on a cold February day. Unfortunately we didn't see the bears, and the Red Panda was tucked away keeping warm. We did see the Snow Monkeys and the Snow Leopards who were also entertaining as they were play fighting. We missed the Penguin feeding time, but saw them in their area. The water splashes on the windows made them hard to see, but they were quite enjoyable to watch waddling around. Inside the Tropic Zone were birds and parrots given free range to fly around. There were snakes, bats and reptiles kept within cages.
Overall, probably not the best time of year for a visit, but it was well worthwhile.

There was patchy ice throughout the zoo that was very slippery. We made our way through all the areas and were ready for the 4d show. On arrival we witnessed a worker talking to a family with young children waiting for the next show. The employee was short with the visitors and borderline rude. We waited for more than 15 minutes in the freezing cold and no
Show was happening. We were told by the family that there were no shows happening and no one would be opening the door to let us in. They also shared that there were no refunds for the prepaid tickets. That is not a way to treat a tourist. Too many other sites to see that aren’t rude or just not happening.

Penguins, puffins AND grisly bears
plus a cool tropical aviary made this zoo unique. Small but mighty is what I call it. Take your below 12-year old kids and grandkids here for a fun afternoon experience! The staff is super friendly too.

Zero access to the vendor, sent 5 messages none replied, couldn't get inside the Zoo, so money lost and the experience also. Bad app, not very user friendly and couldn't access my tickets, or have them resend either

Seals were exciting! My granddaughter loved the experience. I have nothing else to say, but the food and proxies at the first store way way to expensive.
