Our tour guide Bob, was fantastic. He took a detour to the backcountry and showed us some beautiful sights not on the main tour. For the Italian couple in our group, he spoke a bit of Italian. The best part was when he paired up with another tour guide and performed some Navajo music for us.

Request Stephen Holliday. He was great. We could tell he was very proud of his people the Navajo. We were able to ask question about the reservation and history and he answered with passion for his people. He made sure we saw everything. Hew was awesome.

What an incredible experience with tour guide Steven. We were considering driving ourselves but sitting on top of a comfortable open top 4 x 4 vehicle and letting someone else take care of the driving whilst you focus on the views is the best way to see the valley without a doubt. We made several stops throughout the tour to take photos and take in the views but you also have great views from all seats on the vehicle whilst on the move. What really made the day special was our Navajo tour guide Steven who pointed out some of the interesting features of the rocks that we would never have noticed ourselves and gave us a fascinating mix of geological information and local legends. He shared some personal anecdotes with us about his own experiences growing up in the area which we loved to hear. He really made the experience special and we would like to thank him again for a fantastic afternoon adventure!

This tour is in a minivan, not an open car. It was good for us… it was rather chilly that day. But that was not obvious from the listing

Tim Holiday

Elisabeth_E, Feb 2026
Very personal! Tim Holiday didnt use a microphone and a speaker like we saw other guides do. It reminded me of a Universal Studios tour. Tim, instead, would stop the vehicle and come talk to us in an unassuming manner and answer our questions. So very appropriate and respectful of the environment. Ask for Tim! Also, even though I am a huge John Ford fan, I was impressed and gratified that the focus of the visitor center and the tour was on the Navajo culture and heritage and the relationship to the land, not the movies. Seeing the natural spectacle was everything. We went in placid cool February and understand that the route is bumper-to-bumper and 110 degrees in summer. So dodged a bullet there.

Steven did the tour for us. It was awesome. He is friendly and told us a lot of interesting facts. I would suggest doing 2 and half hours though as I feel we missed a few spots.

This was a great experience, came to know about the history and our guide Stephen was great, able to connect his personal life to the valley and explain in detail.

Great Tour

Brett_R, Nov 2025
Our guide was wonderful! She drove us all over Monument Valley while telling us stories about the history of her people and the land itself. I'm so glad we didn't attempt to tour this park on our own without a guide!

Best Guide Ever

The closed vehicle kept us warm and out of the flying dust. But it only had one exit door, so get out as often as possible and take lots of photos!

Our Navajo guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the valley and the various monuments we saw.

Great tour!

Really bumpy road so be prepared. You will be seared outside the vehicle behind the cab. The sights are really inbelievable. Bring a camera!

Spectacular site

It is a rough road, but glad we didn't take our own vehicle. John was very informative and made the experience fun.

Immersive, and immense

Edward_E, Sep 2025
Stephen was great and helped so much for us to Learn about Navajo culture, his narrating was top notch, like he was conversing with us and not reading a script.

Fun run around the monuments

The opportunity to go down on the valley floor and hear about the monuments is priceless. Our guide Steven, was so knowledgeable about the valley, the people who live there and the culture…it was truly enriching. I would tell people without hesitation…”Do It.”

Monument Valley Loop tour

Mark_E, Aug 2025
Unfortunately we couldn’t choose the time being here and it was very hot (40 deg Celsius). If you don’t like the heat definitely pick a time other than the height of summer. It’s also a bit dusty but that’s to be expected. Apart from the heat the tour was very interesting.

Monument Valley 1.5 hour tour

SUNILKUMAR_J, Jul 2025
Guide was great and even took our pictures with different settings. He explained the geography and pointed out and explained to us about every structure. We were confused about the timing as the address showed Arizona and they have different timezone from Utah and Colorado. Turns out they follow Navajo National time zone, which is same as Utah and Colorado. Besides that, it was very hot and we didn't want to stay too long in the sun.

Amazing! Highly recommend!

DiAnna_S, Jul 2025
Our guide was so knowledgeable! We had a great time learning about the monuments and the Navajo culture!

The tour guide was...

Juliane_J, Jun 2025
The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable, but the speaker on the vehicle was a little quiet. The guide was using a vehicle that he wasn't used to using, so it wasn't his fault. The ride was quite bumpy (though not uncomfortable), and that didn't prevent our 2YO from falling asleep. The scenery was beautiful, and many of the rock formations were recognizable from old western movies. Overall, we would recommend.

This is an absolute must-see location and the best tour to do it with!! We will be coming back to do the 3 hour tour and will be requesting Darren again. Thank you so much from Marie and Steve from Vancouver Island, BC Canada

Well worth it versus trying to drive the minimum maintenance road in my own vehicle. Saw a couple cars having trouble. Guide was very interesting and knowledgeable.

Short tour Monument Valley. Tour guide was Michael. Fabulous time! Great tour guide. Wonderful photography advice.

Loved seeing the sights however would have liked way more if our tour driver could have stopped more often than his schedule stops. Very difficult to take photos when the van bounces around.
